Abstract

The translation of the uniqueness of the Holy Quran into English can be addressed and discussed from various linguistic and stylistic lexical, syntactic, and cultural views and standpoints. The Quranic  Arabic words/terms are vivid and magnificent with several nuances of meaning; a case which makes it difficult to be rendered accurately. This study made an effort to analyze syntactic and cultural problems faced by translators in translating the Quranic Arabic hope words l-amalu لَمَألْا in Surahs Al-Hijr and Al-Kahf into English. The findings of the study showed that the translators of the Holy Quran into English faced cultural problems because Quranic Arabic culture-specific terms have no counterpart in the English culture. Also, part of the difficulties and quandaries in rendering such terms exists in the fact that these words need an awareness of the Arabic-Islamic culture with all its religious values and mores. The findings of the study also brought to light that the Quranic Arabic hope words l-amalu لَمَألْا are culture-specific par excellent. They denote a type of translation inequivalent because they cannot be adequately rendered by offering their denotative meanings.

Abstract

This paper reviews the interpretation of one of the figures of modern interpretation, in which the interpretation is expected to be a solution to the problems of human life as the Qur'an was revealed as a mercy to the universe. Among the problems is leadership. Among the mufassir figures in Indonesia who have sat in government is Buya Hamka, who not interprets verses indices by getting involved in government. This study aims to find out how Buya Hamka interprets leadership in the Qur'an. The method used is a descriptive analysis where the primary source used is the book of al-Azhar interpretation. The author also explains asbab nuzul verses related to leaders in the Qur'an. Buya Hamka explained the meaning of a leader by using society's social context and conditions at that time and in a global context. Buya Hamka explained that fair leadership is omniscient and submissive to what God commands by providing benefit to the community without any elements to lead them astray.

Abstract

Ulumul Qur'an is one of the basic knowledge of Islam which has many branches. It discusses issues that are ushuli and furu'i, among the science of ushuli are makki-madani, asbabun nuzul, nasikh-mansukh, muhkam-mutasyabih and the others. The furu'i examples include adab or ethics and fadha'ilul Qur'an. This furu'i discussion is useful because there is a term for the science of perfection (kamalat) in Islam. A Qur'anic scholar from Wonosobo, KH. Muntaha Al-Hafidz has special attention in this knowledge of kamalat or perfection. He wrote a book "abharul Qur'an" or the Qur'anic ocean which discusses two major themes, namely the primacy of the Qur'an and ethics with the Qur'an. This book is studied and investigated in this thesis. So that it is known the position of the abharul Qur'an among similar books from the ulama' who first composed it, as well as the role or contribution of KH. Muntaha in that sector.

Abstract

This paper discusses the contextualization of QS. al-Maidah: 3 regarding pig heart transplants in humans. This practice has become an interesting and viral issue on social media because a few months ago in the United States there was a medical finding about a pig heart transplant in humans which was successfully tested on the world's first patient. In responding to this there are differences of opinion, some allow and do not allow, of course it is very much influenced by the understanding of the text. Therefore, it is very important to review the interpretation of the text using Abdullah Saeed's contextual approach. The results of this study: 1) From a linguistic analysis point of view, the word khinzir means pig. Judging from the micro-macro asbab an-nuzul, pigs are not found in the midst of the Arab nation's historical life. 2) the interpretation of scholars from generation to generation towards the word lahmun khinzir has two main points. First, it is forbidden to eat pork. Second, the use of pig heart valves as a substitute for diseased human heart valves can be justified in an emergency. 3) contextualization. The use of pig heart in human heart transplantation is prohibited as long as there are other efforts that can be cured medically. However, if it is an emergency in order to protect one's life, then it is permissible on the condition that the recovery can only be done by means of a transplant and only done by a trusted specialist doctor.

Abstract

Basiuni Imran is a 20th-century Sambas scholar who once studied with M Rasyid Ridha, so Rasyid Ridha's Islamic reforms ideas were also internalized by M. Basiuni Imran in some of the educational institutions in Sambas. However, in the interpretation, especially the Tafsir of Q.S Al-Fatihah M. Basiuni Imran does not accommodate the value of Islamic reform but interprets it with a Sufistic pattern. On the other hand, no solid information has been found about his Tarekat affiliations or Tarekat tendencies, thus strengthening the indication of his Sufism. Therefore, this research needs to be conducted. This study is library research with a descriptive-analytic model and uses the theory of genealogy and actor networks as an analytical framework. The conclusion of this article explains that the pattern of Sufism narrated by M. Basiuni Imran in interpreting Q.S. Al-Fatihah is by correlating Q.S. Al-Fatihah with Prayers. According to him, prayer is not only done with physical actions but also needs to focus the heart and soul on Allah SWT. He illustrated with the Qibla physically the direction of the Ka’bah is the Qibla during prayer. But in essence, the Qiblah faces the heart to Allah SWT. The factors that influence M. Basiuni Imran's Sufism thought are 1) the relationship of M. Basiuni Imran with some of his Sufism teachers, 2) the socio-religious conditions when writing the interpretation, and 3) the relationship between the book of Sufism and the book of interpretation by M. Basiuni Imran.
