Abstract

Stunting is a condition of growth failure in toddlers due to chronic malnutrition, resulting in children being shorter than their age. Malnutrition occurs while the baby is in the womb and in early life after birth, but appears in children aged 2 years or the first 1000 days of life (HPK). 1000 HPK is a phase of life that begins from the formation of the fetus in the womb (270 days) until the child is 2 years old (730 days) (Hidayah, et al., 2021). Research Objective: To determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding in toddlers and the incidence of stunting at the Rawang Panca Arga Community Health Center in 2024. The observational counseling method with a retrospective cohort study counseling design is analytical. The retrospective cohort study follows subjects/patients who first entered the Community Health Center until they recover or not. This counseling uses patient medical records for one year at the Rawang Panca Arga Community Health Center. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate with the chi-square test. Results: The results of the Chi-Square test analysis showed a p value of 0.026 (p < α 0.05).which means that there is a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting at the Rawang Panca Arga Community Health Center in 2024. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between giving Exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting in toddlers at the Rawang Panca Arga Community Health Center in 2024, with a p value = 0.026 (p<0.05).

Abstract

Preeclampsia plays a role in intrauterine death and perinatal mortality. Preeclampsia is a risk factor for slow fetal growth, low birth weight (LBW), fetal dysmaturity and prematurity, and even intrauterine fetal death (IUFD). Mothers with preeclampsia will experience placental vascular dysfunction, which can disrupt blood flow to the placenta, thus preventing the fetus from optimally meeting its nutritional and oxygen needs. This condition results in delayed fetal growth (Prawirohardjo, 2016). In North Sumatra, 3,560 cases of preeclampsia were reported from 251,449 pregnancies in 2010, while at Dr. Pirngadi Medan reported that the maternal mortality rate for preeclampsia was 3.45% in 2007-2008, 2.1% in 2008-2009, and 4.65% in 2009-2010 (North Sumatra Health Office, 2011). A counseling session conducted at Setio Husodo Kisaran Regional Hospital in 2018 over a four-month period (April-June) found 34 mothers experiencing preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is hypertension that occurs after 20 weeks of gestation accompanied by proteinuria. Preeclampsia is followed by the onset of hypertension, proteinuria, and fever associated with pregnancy after 20 weeks of gestation or immediately after delivery (Walyani, 2016). The counseling results showed that pregnant women experiencing preeclampsia were categorized based on maternal age, with the majority aged <20 years (13 cases) and 38.4%. The majority of pregnant women with preeclampsia were primiparous (17 cases) and pregnant women with preeclampsia were primiparous (50%), and the majority of pregnant women with preeclampsia were in the third trimester (22 cases) (64.7%). Suggestions for managing preeclampsia in pregnant women include encouraging them to have regular prenatal checkups.

Abstract

This counseling aims to determine the relationship between adolescents' knowledge level and their compliance with iron supplementation tablets at SMAN 1 Buntu Pane in 2025. Anemia, especially in adolescent girls, is a significant health problem, and iron supplementation tablets are one way to prevent it. However, compliance with iron supplementation tablets is often low, which may be influenced by adolescents' level of knowledge about the importance of iron supplementation. This counseling consisted of 35 randomly selected students. Data were collected through a questionnaire that measured their level of knowledge and compliance with iron supplementation tablets. Data analysis was carried out using the Pearson correlation statistical technique to determine the extent of the relationship between the two variables. The results of this counseling are expected to provide insight into the importance of increasing adolescents' knowledge about the benefits of iron supplementation tablets, as well as strategies to increase their compliance in taking them. This counseling is expected to contribute to designing more effective health programs in schools to address the problem of anemia in adolescents.

Abstract

Nutritional issues in adolescents are a crucial issue because during this period, physical growth and psychological development accelerate, requiring optimal nutritional intake. However, low nutritional knowledge among adolescents is often the primary cause of undernutrition or overnutrition. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of nutritional health education on improving early adolescents' knowledge about meeting nutritional needs at Gubahan Islam Junior High School, Tanjung Balai, in 2025. The method used in this study was a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects were 40 seventh-grade students of Gubahan Islam Junior High School, Tanjung Balai, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires before and after the education. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test to determine differences in knowledge levels before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in student knowledge after the nutrition education, with the average post-test score being higher than the pre-test (p < 0.05). This demonstrates that nutrition education is effective in improving adolescents' understanding of the importance of a balanced diet. In conclusion, nutritional health counseling is an effective educational method for increasing early adolescents' knowledge of nutritional needs. Such educational activities should be conducted regularly and sustainably to encourage healthy lifestyles from school age.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide education and empowerment in the production of instant dry herbal medicine (jamu) made from turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.) and Javanese ginger (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) as appetite stimulants. Family medicinal plants (TOGA) such as turmeric and Javanese ginger have significant potential as phytopharmaceutical raw materials, particularly for naturally enhancing appetite, yet they are rarely utilized optimally by the community. This activity was implemented through lectures, outreach, and hands-on practice involving local community partners. The material provided included an introduction to the active ingredients and benefits of both plants, as well as training in making instant herbal medicine in the form of a water-soluble powder. The activity results showed a 75% increase in participants' knowledge based on pre- and post-test evaluations. Furthermore, participants were able to independently produce instant herbal medicine using simple techniques and expressed interest in developing this product as a home business. This activity demonstrates that education combined with practical application can increase the use of local medicinal plants and encourage community independence in managing family health and herbal-based economics.

Abstract

Health education with a spiritual approach is a strategic effort to provide holistic support to pregnant women, especially in the lead-up to childbirth. This education activity aims to increase pregnant women's understanding of the importance of mental and spiritual preparedness through the use of Qur'anic mosaics, which are fragments of Qur'anic verses relevant to the birthing process. The education material includes verses containing messages of calm, strength, and trust, such as Surah Maryam, Surah Al-Insyirah, and Surah Al-Baqarah. The methods used include lectures, interactive discussions, and relaxation simulations with the recitation of Qur'anic verses. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of a spiritual approach in facing childbirth, as well as the emergence of a sense of calm and confidence. This education is expected to become part of maternal health promotion based on Islamic values and become a routine program in health care facilities. Labor pain is one of the most intense forms of physiological pain experienced by women and often causes tension and anxiety in mothers during labor. Pain management can be achieved using non-pharmacological methods such as classical music therapy and Quranic recitation. This counseling program aims to compare the effectiveness of Mozart's classical music therapy and Quranic recitation in reducing labor pain intensity during the active phase of labor at the Syahruddin Clinic in 2025. This counseling uses a method. A total of 30 respondents were sampled, divided into two groups of 15 respondents each, namely the Mozart classical music therapy group and the Al-Qur'an music group. The results showed a significant decrease in pain intensity after the therapy given to each group. This counseling is that Al-Qur'an imurotal therapy is proven to be more effective in reducing labor pain in the active phase of stage 1, so this therapy can be considered as an alternative to pharmacological intervention in obstetric services.
