Abstract

Living in harmony and peace between religious communities is something that everyone really desires. But in reality, certain areas still show disharmony which leads to conflict between religious communities. It seems different from this in Lembang Rumandan, Rano District, Tana Toraja. Life between religious communities is very harmonious and peaceful. This fact is measured by the behavior of the people who care about others even though they have different religions, as shown in the ma'pa'tondokan tradition, namely a tradition of mutual cooperation when a death ceremony (Rambu Solo') or a wedding party (Rambu Tuka') is held and other events. The whole community, regardless of religious differences, helps families who are holding an event. This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive model and field research by interviewing several figures who are considered to have broad insight into this tradition. This research shows that ma'pa'tondokkan can be a bridge for dialogue between Muslims and Christians in Lembang Rumandan. This is because the values contained in this tradition such as caring, solidarity, kinship can enable these two religious communities to know each other better.

Abstract

This study examines the Abrahamic covenant in the Book of Genesis, with a focus on its missional dimension. The covenant בְּרִית (berith) with Abraham concerns not only the blessings for Abraham's descendants but also the calling to bring restoration to all of humanity and God's creation. Through a qualitative method and content analysis of biblical texts and related literature, this research explores the implications of the Abrahamic covenant within the context of God's global mission, which encompasses spiritual, social, economic, and ecological restoration. This study affirms that Jesus Christ, as the Messiah, fulfils the covenant, expanding the church's mission, which is not limited to spiritual aspects but also includes social and ecological transformation. The findings of this study offer a new understanding of the application of the Abrahamic covenant in the church's mission and the restoration of a more just and sustainable world.

Abstract

This article examines the mission strategy of the Prophet Jeremiah in the context of the significant challenges faced by the nation of Israel. Known as the "witness to the kingdom of God," Jeremiah was called by God to deliver messages that contained both judgment and hope amidst a national crisis. Utilizing the term "strategy," derived from the Greek word "strategos," this article explains how Jeremiah, as a spiritual leader, devised his plan to achieve divine objectives despite facing rejection and threats to his life. Through a qualitative approach, this analysis highlights Jeremiah's courage in taking risks, boldly addressing the moral decay of society, and his resilience in carrying out his mission, even when deemed politically unsuccessful. With extraordinary obedience, Jeremiah demonstrates that while outcomes may not always meet expectations, faith and perseverance in fulfilling God's call hold profound significance. Jeremiah's mission strategy offers valuable lessons about faithfulness and hope for future generations in facing life's challenges.

Abstract

The postmodern era presents challenges as well as opportunities for the church in carrying out relevant missions, especially for women. This article aims to explore how the church can become an agent of social transformation that is inclusive and responsive to women's needs amidst the dynamics of postmodern culture. This research uses qualitative methods with a theological approach and social analysis, including literature study. The main results of the research show that churches that implement a holistic approach, such as empowering theological education, community-based service programs, and social justice advocacy, are able to increase gender awareness and women's participation in church life and wider society. The main conclusion confirms that a church with a mission for women not only fulfills the call of faith, but also becomes a witness to God's love and justice in an ever-changing world. The Church needs to continue to adapt its mission strategy to remain relevant and impactful in facing the challenges of the postmodern era
