Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the relationship between tourism accessibility and tourist satisfaction, and the influence of tourism accessibility on tourist satisfaction at Toga Hill Sumedang. Method: A quantitative approach with descriptive and verification analysis was employed. Data were collected from April to May 2026 through onsite and online questionnaire distributed to visitors of Toga Hill Sumedang. A total of 400 usable respondent questionnaire were obtained using an accidental sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, the coefficient of determination, and t-tests using IBM SPSS Statistics. Because accidental sampling is a non-probability sampling technique, the findings should be interpreted within the characteristics of the surveyed respondents and should not be generalized to the entire visitor population. Result: The mean accessibility score was 12.53 (possible score range: 5–20), while the mean tourist satisfaction score was 12.59 (possible score range: 5–20). Simple linear regression analysis indicated a statistically significant positive association between perceived tourism accessibility and tourist satisfaction (t = 9.543, p < .001). The coefficient of determination (R² = .186) indicates that accessibility accounted for 18.6% of the variance explained by the present model. Contribution: This study provides empirical evidence regarding the relationship between tourism accessibility and tourist satisfaction at a hill-based nature tourism destination. The findings offer practical insights for destination managers and local governments to improve road accessibility, transportation convenience, route information, and travel comfort to enhance visitors’ overall travel experience.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to develop an integrated tourism website for Telukawur Marine Tourism Village, Jepara Regency, Indonesia, by identifying its tourism potential based on the 5A tourism framework. The website is designed to serve as a platform for information dissemination, tourism promotion, and digital branding. Method: This study adopted a mixed methods approach using the User-Centered Design (UCD) framework. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two key stakeholders, namely the village secretary and the chairperson of the Village Owned Enterprise (BUMDes). Quantitative data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 61 tourists and potential tourists aged 18–40 years who were familiar with internet use and had experience or interest in marine ecotourism. The questionnaires were used to evaluate the website using a website evaluation questionnaire and the System Usability Scale (SUS). Result: The findings identified tourism potential across the five dimensions of the 5A tourism framework, namely attractions, accessibility, amenities, accommodation, and ancillary services. The research instrument was confirmed to be valid (r > 0.361) and reliable (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.917). The website evaluation achieved an overall score of 90.91%, which was categorized as Very Good, while the SUS evaluation produced an average score of 82.21, indicating an Excellent level of usability with an Acceptable level of acceptability. Contribution: This study proposes a validated model for developing an integrated tourism website that combines information dissemination, tourism promotion, and digital branding within a single digital platform. The proposed model addresses the limited research on digital tourism development in small-scale coastal tourism villages and provides a practical reference for other marine tourism villages participating in the Dewi Bahari Program of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the level of interest, needs, and urgency of lecturers towards digital-free tourism and to map the potential for developing tourist areas in line with the concept of digital detox tourism. Method: This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach to explore lecturers’ experiences of digital fatigue and their perceptions of digital detox tourism as a recovery strategy. Primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews with lecturers selected using purposive sampling, while observations and documentation were used to support data triangulation. Secondary data from relevant literature were also reviewed to strengthen the analysis and provide a broader understanding of digital detox tourism within the context of academic work environments. Result: The findings reveal that lecturers generally perceive digital-free tourism as an important means of achieving psychological recovery. Informants highlighted the need for digital detox tourism activities, particularly those involving nature-based tourism and retreat programs. Family vacations and flexible leisure activities were also considered potential alternatives for reducing digital fatigue. These findings suggest that academic environments require more structured spaces and opportunities that support psychological recovery and well-being. Contribution: Conceptually, digital detox tourism not only serves as a means of recreation but also as an institutional strategy to support the well-being and productivity of academic staff. Universities are expected to integrate digital detox programs through academic retreats, mindfulness training, and clear digital working hours. Local governments can also develop digital-free tourism zones as part of sustainable tourism policies, while lecturers are expected to adopt a digital balance lifestyle independently. This study confirms that digital detox tourism has the potential to become a strategic instrument in building a healthy, adaptive, and resilient academic work ecosystem against digital pressures in the post-pandemic era.

Abstract

Purpose : This study aims to analyze the influence of environmental awareness and employee work discipline on the effectiveness of waste management in the hospitality industry. Method : This quantitative study was conducted at Anaya Azana Boutique Hotel Tawangmangu, targeting a population of all staff members involved in waste management. Primary data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires using a 1–5 Likert scale to 30 respondents selected via a saturation sampling technique (census). Secondary data were utilized as contextual support to reinforce the background of the study and provide an overview of the research object. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software, encompassing instrument testing, classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing. Result: This study shows that both variables have a positive and significant effect on waste management effectiveness. Work discipline demonstrated a stronger relative effect (β= 0.749, B = 0.702, t = 8.859, p < 0.001), indicating that higher employee compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) substantially enhances waste management practices. Environmental awareness also exerted a statistically significant positive effect (β = 0.254, B = 0.257, t = 3.002, p = 0.006), confirming that greater environmental concern improves waste management quality. Simultaneously, both variables were proven to be statistically significant (F = 200.709, p < 0.001), with the research model explaining 93.2% of the variance in waste management effectiveness (Adjusted R2 = 0.932) Contribution: This study provides empirical evidence that both environmental awareness and employee work discipline particularly in adhering to SOP play a crucial role in supporting successful and sustainable waste management within the hospitality industry.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to identify the physical and non-physical potential of the Rantepao Town Square area, analyze its existing conditions based on the 4A tourism components, and formulate development directions for the area as an integrated cultural tourism destination in North Toraja. Method: A qualitative case study approach was used, collecting data through direct field observations, documentation, and in-depth interviews with site managers, the Tourism Office, visitors, local communities, artists, and traders. Data were analyzed using the interactive model with source and method triangulation. Result: Empirical evidence confirms strong cultural appeal anchored by the Pongtiku Monument, Tongkonan inspired museum housing traditional mummies, and authentic Alang, positioning the square as North Toraja’s central urban cultural gateway. However, development as an integrated destination is constrained by multi-dimensional gaps: spatial-functional parking conflicts, unmaintained basic amenities, physical damage to the Art Center, lack of cultural interpretation trails, and fragmented governance without formal MSME inclusion. To bridge these gaps, a phased development roadmap with defined implementation stages, responsible stakeholders, and measurable indicators was formulated, prioritizing short-term functional fixes (0–1 year), medium-term informational/economic integration (1–3 years), and long-term Art Center revitalization (3–5 years). Contribution: This study contributes to destination management literature by examining the integration of cultural heritage and urban open spaces. Practically, it offers strategic recommendations for sustainable heritage preservation and local economic enhancement.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to develop a stakeholder collaboration framework for optimizing the contribution of cultural events to hotel occupancy, using the 2025 edition of Solo International Performing Arts (SIPA) — a cultural event consistently held in Surakarta City and part of the Karisma Event Nusantara programme — as the case. Method: A qualitative case study approach was applied through in-depth interviews with five stakeholder groups, namely the SIPA Foundation, Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel, Hotel FIM by Zigna Yosodipuro, a travel agent, and the Surakarta City Culture and Tourism Office; data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Result: All stakeholders regard SIPA as a strategically important cultural event, yet its contribution to hotel occupancy could not be directly substantiated because of the absence of integrated daily occupancy-monitoring data and the lack of formal regional budget regulation for independently funded events. Contribution: This study extends Stakeholder Theory by proposing a stakeholder collaboration framework that integrates tourism package development, event-experience innovation, and real-time hotel occupancy monitoring. The framework offers a practical governance model for reducing data asymmetry, strengthening cross-sector collaboration, and translating the potential of cultural events into measurable improvements in hotel occupancy and destination competitiveness.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to map the research landscape on Sustainable Tourism and Destination Competitiveness in Indonesia, analyze the development of publications, relationships between keywords, the evolution of research themes, and identify themes that still have opportunities for development. Method: The study used a bibliometric approach with Google Scholar data sources extracted through Publish or Perish version 8. Metadata was cleaned using OpenRefine and analyzed using VOSviewer through Network Visualization, Overlay Visualization, and Density Visualization. Of the 1,000 initial publications obtained, 616 journal articles met the criteria and were used as the research dataset. Result: The research findings indicate that the study of sustainable tourism and destination competitiveness in Indonesia has developed into a multidimensional field with strong links between destination management, innovation, technology, service quality, destination image, and tourist satisfaction. The analysis also indicates a shift in research focus toward sustainability, digital transformation, and destination governance. Meanwhile, themes such as sustainable tourism policy, community empowerment, local wisdom, and rural tourism still have relatively low research intensity, offering opportunities for future research. Contribution: This research contributes to the development of scientific knowledge by presenting a comprehensive bibliometric mapping of the conceptual structure, thematic developments, and research gaps in studies on Sustainable Tourism and Destination Competitiveness in Indonesia. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for researchers in identifying future research directions and support policymakers and destination managers in formulating evidence-based strategies for sustainable and competitive tourism development.

Abstract

Purpose: This study seeks to investigate how electronic word of mouth and influencer personal branding shape consumers' decisions to purchase Umrah packages, with consumer trust positioned as the variable mediating this relationship, using PT FAS in Palembang as the research setting. Method: A quantitative survey design was applied in this research to examine the relationships proposed in the conceptual framework. Information was obtained from 237 respondents through a structured questionnaire, which involved individuals who had previously undertaken umrah in purchasing umrah services from an umrah travel agency in Palembang. Data analysis relies on the PLS-SEM framework. The evaluation process included testing the measurement model to determine whether each construct met the required criteria of validity and reliability, followed by structural model analysis to assess the link among the examined variables. The study also applied hypothesis testing and mediation assessment to identify the direct pathways and indirect relationships within the research model. Result: The results denote that electronic word of mouth and influencer personal branding are unable to directly explain variations in purchase decisions at a statistically significant level. Nevertheless, both factors contribute positively to the formation of consumer trust. The analysis further indicates that consumer trust becomes an important factor influencing purchase decisions and acts as an intermediary pathway through which E-WoM and Influencer Personal Branding affect the decision-making process for Umrah package purchases. Contribution: This research extends existing knowledge in tourism and digital marketing by highlighting the pivotal mediating role that consumer trust plays in connecting electronic word of mouth and influencer personal branding with purchase decisions in the Umrah travel industry. The results also have practical implications for Umrah travel agencies seeking to develop effective digital marketing strategies that foster consumer trust and drive stronger purchasing decisions.
