Abstract

Maternal pattern and the role of peers in high school youth dating behavior in JambiPurposeThe purpose of this paper was to determine the relationship between parental parenting and the role of peers with youth dating behavior in Jambi. MethodA cross-sectional study was conducted involving 281 students of SMAN 4 and SMAN 11 in Jambi who were or have been dating. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate with chi square tests, and multivariate with logistic regression tests.Results281 respondents, 113 (72.44%) of the majority of male adolescents behaved in risky courtship. Bivariable analysis found that there was a significant correlation between the role of peers and teenage dating behavior, while the relationship of mother pattern with teenage dating behavior was found to be insignificant. Multivariable analysis, obtained the result that the role of peers is the dominant variable associated with youth dating behavior with OR 2.74 times (95%, CI = 1.61-4.67). ConclusionThis study contributes to the knowledge that a poor peer role for adolescents has a risk to behave in risky dating and mother's parenting does not have a meaningful relationship with youth courtship behavior.

Abstract

Risk factors for loss to follow up of antiretroviral therapy in HIV patientsPurposeThis study aimed to determine risk factors for loss to follow-up of antiretroviral therapy among HIV-infected patients in Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta, 2011-2014.MethodsA retrospective cohort study was conducted involving 499 HIV patients. Observations were conducted for four years using medical records. Data analysis was performed using Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional hazards regression tests.ResultsThere were 190 loss to follow-up patients. Risk factors for loss to follow-up of ARV therapy were: a student (AHR = 2.42; 95% CI = 1.20-4.89), the distance ≥ 10 km (AHR = 1.58; 95% CI = 1:09 to 2:31), using health insurance (AHR = 1.67; 95% CI = 1:11 to 2:51) and homosexual as a protective factor of loss to follow-up of antiretroviral therapy (HR = 0:49; 95% CI = 0.30-0.80).ConclusionBeing a college student, the distance between home and ARV service ≥10 km and using health insurance were the risk factors for loss to follow-up of ARV treatment. Adherence counseling for students, cooperation with the drug taking supervisor and decentralization ARV service, as well as effective and efficient services for patients who use health insurance need to be strengthened.

Warning of illustrated cigarette packaging and smoking cessation intention in SlemanPurposeThis study aimed to identify the relationship of pictorial warnings to cigarette packaging with the intention to stop smoking or not to start smoking in Sleman regency.MethodsThe study used secondary data from the study "The effectiveness of warning images on cigarette packs on smoking behavior in Sleman, Yogyakarta" from 2015 and used a cross- sectional design with 155 respondents. Data were analyzed using chi square tests with significance level 95% (p <0.05) and multiple logistic regression test.ResultsThere was a correlation between pictorial warning, social environment and perceptions of the dangers of cigarettes with the intention of quitting smoking or the intention of not starting to smoke.ConclusionPictorial warning on cigarette packs, good social environment and perception of cigarette hazard may support the intention to stop smoking on smokers and intention not to smoke on non-smokers. Therefore, pictorial warnings that show the danger of smoking should be produced more as an intervention to reduce the intention of smoker to smoke and prevent non-smoker intention from starting smoking.
