Abstract

Keberhasilan proses belajar mengajar bergantung pada teknik belajar dan penggunaan model pembelajaran. Kemampuan siswa SMK III Lhokseumawe dalam memahami konten bacaan tidak optimal sehingga diperlukan metode pembelajaran alternatif yang secara kreatif dapat memberdayakan potensi membaca siswa. Artikel ini akan memaparkan pengaruh penggunaan SQ3R terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca siswa dalam memahami isi bacaan. Penelitian dilakukan  menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan subjek 40 siswa kelas X SMKN Lhokseumawe. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas data, uji homogenitas data, dan uji beda rata-rata menggunakan SPSS for window VS 17.0. Berdasarkan penelitian diketahui bahwa hasil analisis uji perbedaan rata-rata n-gain menunjukkan taraf signifikan pada kelas eksperimen yaitu: sig. 0,001< 0,005. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan memahami isi bacaan pada siswa pembelajarannya dengan metode SQ3R dibandingkan dengan yang tidak menggunakan SQ3R.Kata kunci: kemampuan, membaca, SQ3RThe success of the teaching and learning process depends on learning techniques and the use of learning models. The ability of Lhokseumawe Vocational School students in understanding reading content is not optimal so that alternative learning methods are needed that can creatively empower students' reading potential. This article will explain the effect of using SQ3R on improving students' reading skills in reading comprehension. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach with the subject of 40 class X students of Lhokseumawe Vocational School. Data analysis techniques using data normality test, data homogeneity test, and average difference test using SPSS for window VS 17.0. Based on the research, it is known that the results of the n-gain average difference test analysis indicate a significant level in the experimental class, namely: sig. 0,001 <0,005. So it can be concluded that an increase in the ability to understand the content of reading in students learning by the SQ3R method compared with those who did not use SQ3R.Keywords: ability, read, SQ3R

Abstract

Bahasa merupakan produk budaya yang keberadaanya tidak dapat diingkari oleh siapapun. Salah satu produk kebudayaan Jawa yaitu bahasa Jawa Krama yang nyatanya keberadaannya mulai diabaikan oleh penuturnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripskan bagaimana pemertahanan bahasa Jawa Krama di Desa Jagir Kecamatan Sine Kabupaten Ngawi serta faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian etnografi dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiolinguistik. Adapun analisis penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dengan sumber data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bahasa Jawa Krama pada ranah pemerintahan dan sekolah masih bertahan, namun pada ranah keluarga sudah mulai bergeser. Usia, pekerjaan, dan pendidikan responden berpengaruh terhadap pemertahanan bahasa Jawa Krama. Dunia pendidikan memiliki peran penting dalam mempertahankan bahasa Jawa Krama, sebab sekolah harus membentuk karaktek peserta didik yang mencintai budayanya dan peserta didik diharapakan mampu menjadi pelopor pemertahanan bahasa Jawa Krama.Katakunci: bahasa; Jawa; pemertahanan; sosiolinguistik Abstract:Language is a cultural product whose existence is inevitable. One of the products of Javanese culture is the Jawa Krama language, which its existence is starting to be ignored by its speakers. This study aims to describe the preservation of the Jawa Krama language in Jagir Village, Sine District, Ngawi Regency, and the factors that influence it. This research was ethnographic research using a sociolinguistic approach. The analysis of this research used descriptive analysis with quantitative and qualitative data sources. The results show that in the government and school domain, the Jawa Krama language still survives, but among the family, it has begun to shift. Age, occupation, and education of respondents affect the maintenance of the Jawa Krama language. Education has an important role in maintaining the Jawa Krama language because schools have to shape students’ character who love their culture and they are expected to be pioneers in maintaining the Jawa Krama language.Keywords: Java; language;  maintenance; sociolinguistics

Abstract

Effectiveness of learning, interest in literary appreciation and the student's ability to analyze the elements of nationalism, theme and mandate of poetry on the ground remains low. Based on that writing is restricted to three things, increase the effectiveness of learning, improve the ability of students to apply learning model of problem based learning to learning to analyze the elements of nationalism, theme and mandate poetry class X SMK Al-Ibrohimiyah Cianjur. The method used in this study, classroom action research cycle test techniques, observation sheets and questionnaires. Research conducted three cycles. The results of the study managed to increase; (1) The effectiveness of learning increases, the first cycle is still rowdy class, then the second cycle has begun not rowdy, and the third cycle has been conducive; (2) The interest of students to appreciate literature increased, in the first cycle students are active for only a small sebagin, on the second cycle by almost half and the third cycle to a great extent; (3) The ability of students to analyze the elements of nationalism, theme and mandate of poetry increased, in the first cycle students' average score of 66.19 in cycle II reached 75.95 and the third cycle reached 91.66. It was concluded that the application of the teaching model of problem based learning to learning to analyze the theme and mandate puiisi class X SMK Al-Ibrohimiyah Cianjur can improve the effectiveness, student interest and student learning outcomes. Abstract

This article describes the aspects of toponymy and cultural values of village names in Bojong. The research method used descriptive, with observation, interview, and content analysis techniques. The research was carried out in Bojong, Karangtengah district, with the research objects of Ciburial, Ciroyom, and Kaum villages. The first result is, the three names of villages found in Bojong are categorized into three aspects of toponymy, namely the physical, social and cultural aspects. Secondly, there are cultural values in the stories of the three village names based on beliefs, social or individual interactions in groups and cultural values that relate to people's occupation from the past to the present. Therefore, the Village Head of Bojong can utilize local culture as a village asset.Keywords: Toponymy aspects, cultural values.

Abstract

Artikel ini akan memaparkan nilai-nilai dalam sebuah karya sastra. Sumber data dalam penelitian adalah novel “Tentang Kamu” karya Tere Liye. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu metode diskriptif. Penelitian menggunakan pandangan teori M.H. Abrams yaitu pendekatan pragmatik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai moral yang terkandung dalam novel adalah hidup itu perlu dilakoni dengan gigih. Hal seperti itu, tentu sangat bermanfaat untuk para pembaca. Gambaran yang terangkai dalam untaian setiap cerita memfokuskan pada kehidupan moral.  Katakunci: nilai; novel; moral; pragmatikAbstract:This article will describe the values in a literary work. The data source in this research was the novel “Tentang Kamu” by Tere Liye. The method utilized in this research was descriptive. This study used the theoretical view of M.H. Abrams as a pragmatic approach. The results of the study indicate that the moral values contained in the novel is that life needs to be lived persistently. Abstract

This article reveals the effectiveness of using inductive learning models to find religious values in the short story. The method used in the study is PTK. The experiment was conducted in three cycles, each cycle consists of two meetings. The study was conducted in grade XI MAN Cianjur. The results showed that inductive models can enhance the learning process, especially the attention of students in learning and students cooperation in group discussions. In the first cycle, in terms of students attention, from 44 students there are 29 students (65.90%) paid attention, and in terms of cooperation of the students in group discussions, there were 27 students (61.36%) are cooperative. In the second cycle, from 44 students there were 33 students (75%) who paid attention, and regarding the cooperation of the group, there are 30 students (68.18%) who are cooperative. In the third cycle, from 44 students there are 38 students (86.36%) who paid attention, and regarding group cooperation there are 39 students (88.64%)who are cooperative. The student’ results in the first cycle obtained an average value of 68.64, in the second cycle the average value was 77.16, and in the third cycle the average value was 91.82. Therefore, it is concluded that the implementation of inductive learning model on learning of finding religious values on the short story in class XI MAN Cianjur can enhance the learning process and student learning outcomes.Keywords: religious value, inductive models, processes and outcomes

Abstract

This research was conducted to find rhetorical strategies related to the types of questions and choice of words (diction) used in the “Hotman Paris Show” and their use as teaching materials for discussion texts. This study used a qualitative research design and a descriptive type of research. The data in this study are speech events indicated by using rhetorical strategies related to the types of questions and choice of words (diction). Data were collected by using documentation, listening, and recording techniques. The analysis technique uses data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the most common types of questions found were informative questions. There are six dictions used, namely denotative, connotative, general, special, scientific, and popular diction with dominant use. Popular diction is used because it is easier for the audience to understand what the presenter is saying and these dictions are familiar to the public.Keywords: rhetoric; word choice; discussion textAbstrak: Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menemukan strategi retorika berkaitan dengan jenis pertanyaan dan pilihan kata (diksi) yang digunakan pada acara Hotman Paris Show serta pemanfaatannya sebagai materi ajar teks diskusi. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian kualitatif dan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa peristiwa tutur yang diindikasikan menggunakan strategi retorika  yang berkaitan dengan jenis pertanyaan dan pilihan kata (diksi). Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik dokumentasi, simak dan catat. Teknik analisis menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jenis pertanyaan yang paling banyak ditemukan yaitu jenis pertanyaan informatif. Ada enam diksi yang digunakan yaitu denotatif, konotatif, umum, khusus, ilmiah, dan diksi populer penggunaannya dominan. Diksi populer digunakan karena para penonton lebih mudah memahami apa yang disampaikan oleh pembawa acara dan diksi-diksi tersebut tidak asing lagi di kalangan masyarakat.Katakunci: retorika; pilihan kata; teks diskusi

Abstract

This article will describe the process of developing negotiation text material based on Alight Motion video media in class X IPS at SMA Negeri 7 Medan. The research was conducted using the Research & Development (R&D) approach with the method developed by Borg and Garl which was modified by Sugiyono. In the research, several stages were carried out, namely: a) potential and problems, b) data collection, c) product design, d) product validation, and e) product revision. The results showed that based on material expert validation, an average percentage of 88% was obtained and media experts obtained an average percentage of 90% and were included in the very good category. Therefore, overall it can be said that the feasibility of the product is in the very good category. The product of developing negotiation text material based on Alight Motion video media is in the form of a video with a duration of 10 minutes and 13 seconds which presents the main points of the material being taught as well as additional material for students related to negotiation texts such as understanding negotiation texts, negotiating text structures, linguistic rules of negotiation texts, how to identify persuasive sentences in the negotiating text, and write the negotiation text.Keywords: Alight Motion; media; negotiation textAbstrakArtikel ini akan mendeskripsikan  proses pengembangan materi teks negosiasi berbasis media video Alight Motion di kelas X IPS SMA Negeri 7 Medan. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan Research & Development (R&D) dengan metode yang dikembangkan oleh Borg dan Garl yang dimodifikasi oleh Sugiyono. Dalam penelitian, dilakukan beberapa tahap, yakni: a) potensi dan masalah, b) pengumpulan data, c) desain produk, d) validasi produk, e) revisi produk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan validasi ahli materi diperoleh rata-rata persentase 88% dan ahli media diperoleh rata-rata persentase 90% dan masuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Oleh karena itu, secara keseluruhan dapat dikatakan secara kelayakan produk berada dalam kategori sangat baik. Produk pengembangan materi teks negosiasi berbasis media video Alight Motion berupa video berdurasi 10 menit 13 detik yang menyajikan pokok-pokok materi yang tengah diajarkan serta sebagai materi tambahan siswa terkait teks negosiasi seperti: pengertian teks negosiasi, struktur teks negosiasi, kaidah kebahasaan teks negosiasi, cara mengindentifikasi kalimat persuasif dalam teks negosiasi, dan menuliskan teks negosiasi. Abstract

Languages that are in one proto are thought to still have language kinship. This study will describe how the kinship of the Pakpak and Alas languages and find out the time of separation and the age of the Pakpak and Alas languages. The methods used are qualitative and quantitative methods. From the results of the study, it was found that the Pakpak and Alas languages have a kinship relationship in the family class because they are in the range of 44%. This indicates that the Pakpak and Alas languages are in the same proto and have family relationships. Pakpak and Alas languages are considered to be the same language around 1891 thousands of years ago. In addition, the Pakpak and Alas languages are thought to have started to separate from a single proto-language around the year 131 ADKeywords: Alas language; kinship; Pakpak language; comparativeAbstrakBahasa yang berada pada satu proto diduga masih memiliki kekerabatan Bahasa.  Penelitian ini akan menggambarkan bagaimanakah hubungan kekerabatan bahasa Pakpak dan Alas serta mengetahui waktu pisah dan usia  bahasa Pakpak dan Alas. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Dari hasil penelitian didapati bahwa bahasa Pakpak dan bahasa Alas memiliki hubungan kekerabatan pada kelas family karena berada pada kisaran 44% Ini menunjukkan bahwa bahasa Pakpak dan Alas berada pada satu proto yang sama dan memiliki hubungan family(keluarga). Bahasa Pakpak dan Alas diperhitungkan merupakan satu bahasa yang sama sekitar 1891 ribuan tahun yang lalu. Abstract

This study is aimed to explore the implementation of photovoice as project-based learning to develop students’ skills of viewing and exposition writing. It also investigates their viewing and writing development as well as their responses toward the photovoice as PBL. In conducting this study, a qualitative case study was used. The subjects of this research were a teacher and fifteen students from one of the Islamic senior high schools in Cianjur, West Java. The data were collected from observation, interviews, text analysis, and open-ended questionnaires. The findings revealed that photovoice was implemented as project-based learning through several stages. Initially, the students were stimulated with photos to show them that the photos could voice an issue. In terms of exposition writing skills, the students have developed their schematic structure, coherence, and language use. Furthermore, they gave positive responses to photovoice as PBL activities by showing enthusiasm and active involvement in class. Besides, they admitted that photovoice as PBL facilitated them to be more creative and communicative in expressing ideas and opinions from social phenomena that exist around them.Keywords: photovoice; PBL (project-based learning); exposition text; writing; viewing
