Abstract

Background: Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are a common medical condition worldwide. Hemorrhoids occur when blood vessels in the anal or rectal area swell and become inflamed. Factors contributing to the occurrence of hemorrhoids include age, occupation, obesity, gender, constipation, and prolonged sitting during bowel movements. This research aims to provide valuable information for the Indonesian community, doctors, and researchers regarding the risk factors associated with hemorrhoid occurrence. Methods: The research design used in this study is an Observational Case Control with a Retrospective approach. The population in this study consisted of patients who visited the surgical department of RSUD Raja Ahmad Tabib from 2019 to 2022, totaling 6,549 patients. Sample selection was done using Simple Random Sampling, with a total sample size of 82 individuals. The research results were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: In this study, the Chi-Square test analysis revealed factors related to the occurrence of hemorrhoids: Based on Age (p=0.672), Based on Gender (p=0.004), Based on Obesity (p=0.049), and Based on Occupation (p=0.000). Conclusion: Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that there is a significant association between Gender, Obesity, and Occupation with the occurrence of hemorrhoids among patients in the surgical outpatient department of Raja Ahmad Tabib Regional General Hospital from 2019 to 2022.

Abstract

Background: the nutritional status of infants greatly influences their growth and development. To find out the nutritional status of infants can be seen from what they consume. Babies aged 6-11 months get nutrition from MP-ASI and ASI. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between complementary feeding and nutritional status at the Sambau Health Center. Method: Type of quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design. This research was conducted in December 2022. The population was infants aged 6-11 months who attended Posyandu activities in December as many as 69 people were taken using the total sampling technique. Data on MP-ASI administration, frequency, and form of MP-ASI were obtained using a questionnaire and measuring weight/PB. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Giving MP-ASI to infants 6-11 months was 63.8%. The frequency of giving MP-ASI was mostly according to age, namely 75.4%. Most of the MP-ASI forms are age-appropriate, namely 76.8%. The nutritional status of infants aged 6-11 months is mostly good, namely 92.8%. The results of the chi-square test obtained a p-value of 0.856 for the relationship between MP-ASI and nutritional status, and the relationship between MP-ASI frequency and nutritional status obtained a p-value of 0.003. Meanwhile, the relationship between complementary feeding and nutritional status obtained a p-value of 0.861. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the provision of MP-ASI and the nutritional status of infants 6-11 months at the Sambau Health Center with a value of p=0.586 (p>0.05).

Abstract

Background: : Menstruation is uterine bleeding that occurs cyclically and is experienced by most women of reproductive age. The menstrual cycle has a significant relationship with hormonal changes that occur in the body. One of the things that can affect the menstrual cycle is psychological conditions such as depression and anxiety. Methods: This research method is observational analytic with a cross sectional approach which was carried out at SMK N 07 Batam City in June 2023. The sampling technique in this study used the nonprobability sampling method with a quota sampling technique with a sample size of 193 respondents. This research was conducted by collecting questionnaire data. Data analysis used the Spearman's Rho test. Results: The results of the research on 193 respondents showed a significant relationship between anxiety levels and the menstrual cycle in female students at SMK N 07 Batam in 2023. From the results of the Spearman rho test, a p-value of 0.002 was obtained and an r-value of 0.168 so that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between anxiety levels and the menstrual cycle in students of SMK N 07 Batam in 2023.

Abstract

Background: Learning concentration is the ability to focus the mind on something without being influenced by the surrounding circumstances. Learning concentration is influenced by two factors, namely internal and external. Breakfast habits and physical activity are included in the internal factors of learning concentration. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between breakfast habits and physical activity with the concentration of learning students of grade VIII SMPN 28 Batam. Method: This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study was class VIII students at SMPN 28 Batam as many as 292 people. The study sample was taken from as many as 72 people with purposive techniques. Data on breakfast habits and physical activity were obtained by questionnaire and study concentration using the Stroop test. The data were analyzed using the chi–square test. Results: Breakfast habits respondents had good breakfast habits by 82.4%. The frequency of physical activity of respondents was categorized at a moderate physical activity level of 45.6%. The frequency of respondents' learning concentration obtained balanced results between good and bad concentration by 50%. The results of the chi-square test obtained p value = 0.525 for the relationship between breakfast habits with learning concentration, and the relationship between physical activity with learning concentration obtained p value = 0.084. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between breakfast habits and physical activity of grade VIII students of SMPN 28 Batam.

Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive and irreversible kidney function disorder, in which the body is unable to maintain metabolism and fails to maintain fluid and electrolyte balance which results in an increase in urea.The risk factors for chronic kidney failure from hypertension are 3.2 times greater than those who do not have hypertension.The study aims to determine the relationship between the degree of hypertension and the stage of Chronic Kidney Failure in the hemodialysis unit at Badan Pengusahaan Batam Hospital in 2019-2020. Methods: The research design using analytic observational with a cross sectional approach in the Hemodialysis unit at the Badan Pengusahaan Batam Hospital in July 2023. The sample of this study was 95 patients with Chronic Kidney Failure who visited the Hemodialysis unit at Badan Pengusahaan Batam Hospital in 2019-2020selected by random sampling method. Analysis data using the Chi-Square correlation hypothesis test. Results: A total of 38 people (29.5%) respondents were in the age group 46-55 years and 48 people (50.5%) respondents were male, 62 people (65.3%) had grade 2 hypertension, 83 people(87.4%) of respondents had stage V chronic kidney failure. There was a significant relationship between the degree of hypertension and the stage of chronic kidney failure in patients at the Hemodialysis Unit RSBP Batam 2019-2020 (p=0.042). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the degree of hypertension and the stage of chronic kidney failure in patients at the RSBP Batam Hemodialysis Unit 2019-2020.

Abstract

Background: Energy drink refers to drinks containing caffeine combined with other ingredients such as taurine, guarana and vitamin B, which are claimed to provide extra energy for users. The results of a study regarding the effects of energy drinks on healthy subjects aged 18-45 years, consuming 1-3 cans of energy drinks, the subjects experienced an average increase in systolic blood pressure of 3.5 mmHg and also had an average 10-msec prolongation in QT interval. Method: This research method is observational analytic with a cross sectional approach which was carried out at Palmeriam Market in East Jakarta City in 2023. The sampling technique in this research used a total sampling method with a sample size of 45 respondents. This research was carried out by collecting questionnaire data. Data analysis uses the Chi Square test. Result: The results of research on 45 respondents showed a significant relationship between consuming energy drinks and the incidence of hypertension in transport workers at Palmeriam Market in East Jakarta City in 2023. From the results of the Chi Square test, it was found that the p-value was 0.000 (p<0.05), so that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between consuming energy drinks and the incidence of hypertension in transport workers at Palmeriam Market in East Jakarta City in 2023.

Abstract

Background: Tinea corporis or also known as ringworm, is a superfisial fungal infection of The skin that can effect people of all ages and genders. Hyperglycemia is a risk factor for tinea corporis in diabetic patients (especially type 2 diabetes mellitus), so that glycemic control plays an important role in The prevention and management of this condition. This study aims to determine the relations between hyperglycemia and tinea corporis in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at Graha Hermine Hospital Batam in 2021. Methods: This study is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design in 71 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients visiting Graha Hospital Hermine Batam in 2021 which was selected using the purposive sampling method. Data is secondary data derived from medical records. Data analysis was performed with The Fisher statistical test. Results: The average age of the research respondents was in the 46-55 year group and based on the gender of the respondents in this study, 52.1% were male and 47.9% female. As many as 57.7% of respondents experienced hyperglycemia and 7.0% experienced tinea corporis. There is no relationship between hyperglycemia and the incidence of tinea corporis in diabetes mellitus patients at Graha Hermine Hospital Batam in 2021 (p=0,644). Conclusion: There is no relationship between hyperglycemia and the incidence of tinea corporis in diabetes mellitus patients at Graha Hermine Hospital Batam in 2021.

Abstract

Background: Traffic accidents are a leading cause of death in developing countries, and the incidence continues to rise with population growth and increased transportation mobility. This study aims to analyze the pattern of injuries in traffic accident victims treated at Raja Ahmad Tabib Regional General Hospital, Riau Islands Province, during the period from January to December 2022. Methods: This study utilized a retrospective descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 1,533 traffic accident victims during the January-December 2022 period, and a sample of 318 individuals was selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. Results: The study revealed that 69.5% of the victims were aged over 30 years, 66.7% were male, and 84.0% survived the accidents. The most common injury pattern among pedestrians was abrasions (37.9%), motorbike riders most frequently experienced abrasions (48.0%), car drivers mostly suffered from lacerations (43.4%), and car passengers predominantly had contusions (50.0%). Conclusion: This research concludes that the injury patterns in traffic accident victims at Raja Ahmad Tabib Regional General Hospital in the Riau Islands Province during 2022 show that abrasions are dominant among motorbike riders, lacerations are predominant among car drivers, and contusions are prevalent among car passengers.

Abstract

Background: Growth is an increase in the size and number of cells and intercellular tissues, which includes an increase in physical size and body structure both partially and completely. Children who face obstacles in their growth can affect their future growth. The success of preventing late growth of children is influenced by basic knowledge that is good for mothers. To achieve effective communication between mother and child, it is necessary to pay attention to maternal attitudes that reflect positive interactions and are responsive to monitoring toddler growth. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between mothers' attitudes and knowledge with the growth of children aged 3-5 years at the Posyandu Kasih Ibu working area of the Baloi Health Center in Batam city in 2023. Methods: This type of research is quantitative using an analytical observational research design, with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study is mothers who have children aged 3-5 years at the Posyandu Kasih Ibu Working Area of the Baloi Health Center in Batam City. Results: The results of the Chi-Square analysis of the relationship between maternal attitudes and the growth of children aged 3-5 years were obtained p = 0.001 and the relationship of maternal knowledge with the growth of children aged 3-5 years was obtained p = 0.001 where Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it was found that there is a relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of mothers with the growth of children aged 3-5 years at the Posyandu Kasih Ibu in the Baloi Health Center Work area in Batam city in 2023.

Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhea, or menstrual pain, is a common complaint experienced by women during menstruation. Factors such as dietary patterns and consumption of specific beverages can play a role in reducing the severity of dysmenorrhea. One such beverage with the potential to alleviate menstrual pain is carrot juice and green coconut water, both rich in nutrients and anti-inflammatory compounds. Hence, it is crucial to investigate the comparison between carrot juice and green coconut water regarding the severity of dysmenorrhea. Methods: This study utilized a Quasi-Experimental research design with a Non-equivalent approach. The research was conducted at the Female Dormitory of Batam University from November 2023. The sampling technique used was Simple Random Sampling, with a total sample size of 42 or 14 sample in each group. Results: Based on the One-Way ANOVA test, the obtained result indicates that the significance value of the ANOVA test (Sig.) is 0.000 (< 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the effects of carrot juice and green coconut water on the reduction of dysmenorrhea levels. Conclusion: Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the intervention of green coconut water is more effective in reducing menstrual pain compared to the intervention of carrot juice among female dormitory students University of Batam in 2023.
