Abstract

Abstract Thyroid cancer is a common malignancy of the endocrine system. One of the current challenges is to control the loco-regional recurrence. Until today, clinical characteristics and histopathological result as predictive factors that can be used to identify patients for prophylactic radical neck dissection are still unclear. Therefore this study aimed to assess the relationship between clinical characteristics and histhopatological result to regional neck lymph node metastases. This was a cross-sectional study, to explain the relationship between clinical characteristic and histopathological result in the incidence of regional neck lymph node metastases. During the study period January 2017 to January 2018, there were 74 patients included in the analysis. The mean age of the patient was 45.31 ± 13,433 years. There were 47 (63.3%) patients with the age categories of <20 and> 40 years old and 27 (36.5%) with age category 20-40 years old. Male patients was accounted for 15 (20.3%) and women 59 (79.7%). The size categories of the tumor were <= 5cm 67 (90.5%) and > 5 cm 7 (9.5%). There were 57 (77.0%) patients with papilary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and 17 (23.0%) with follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC). There were 30 (40.5%) positive and 44 (59.5%) negative for Lymphovascular Invasion, For Capsular invasion there were positive 27 (36.5%) and negative 47 (63.5%). There were 45 (60.8%) and 29 (39.2%) patients with positive and negative regional neck lymph node metastases. The factors that influence the occurrence of lymph metastasis were sex, lymphovascular invasion, capsular invasion and histopathology of papillary thyroid carcinoma. Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: preeclampsia and eclampsia are high-risk pregnancy complications that can endanger both the mother and the fetus. The lack of clinical experience among young doctors in managing these conditions can impact their decision-making skills and patient management. Aims: the aims of this study to give innovative solution to enhance their competence in learning about preeclampsia and eclampsia with Virtual Reality (VR)-based learning media Methods: The method used in developing this media is the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), which uses a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach. VR media is developed by presenting interactive simulations that allow users to experience various clinical situations realistically and deeply. Results: Statistical analysis shows that the learning method using VR provides significant advantages in improving theoretical understanding, practical skills, and confidence of clinical clerkship compared to conventional learning methods. These results support the research hypothesis that the use of VR is more effective in the context of learning preeclampsia and eclampsia. Conclusion: the development of VR-based media has the potential to become an innovative tool supporting medical education, particularly in enhancing the preparedness of young doctors in managing critical obstetric cases Keywords: Virtual Reality, Learning Media, Pre-eclampsia, Eclampsia, Clinical clerkship

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Cervical cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related death among women worldwide, with a high prevalence, particularly in developing countries. The primary cause of cervical cancer is infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). Other risk factors include smoking habits, a history of vaginal childbirth, the use of hormonal contraceptives, and age. Methods: The study uses a quantitative approach with an analytical observational design employing Pearson correlation analysis. Data is collected from patient medical records. Results: The research results on 183 samples showed a strong correlation (p=0.000),(r = 0.722) between smoking history and cervical cancer, a moderate correlation (p=0.000),(r = 0.625) between vaginal delivery history and cervical cancer, a very weak correlation (p=0.154),(r = 0.106) between contraceptive use and cervical cancer, and a weak correlation (p=0.000),(r = 0.327) between age and cervical cancer in OB-GYN patients at the Batam Free Trade Zone Hospital in 2023. Conclusion: Based on this research, it is concluded that the null hypothesis (Hᴏ ) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, meaning there is a correlation between smoking history, vaginal delivery history, contraceptive use, age, and cervical cancer in OB- GYN patients at the Batam Free Trade Zone Hospital in 2023 Keywords: Cervical cancer, Smoking habits, Vaginal childbirth, Hormonal contraceptives, Age

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Both of high birth weight (HBW) and low birth weight (LBW) infants have the potential to develop health problems during infancy. Most of these problems are related to birth weight, which is a crucial parameter in determining the survival of newborns. Inaccurate fetal weight estimation can lead to undetected problems during pregnancy, thus necessitating research to identify the most accurate fetal weight estimation formula. Methods: This study used a comparative design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was mothers who gave birth at Midwife Practice X in 2024. The sample was determined using non-probability sampling, specifically total sampling. The results were tested using a paired t-test and receiver operating characteristic (ROC). Results: The research results indicated no significant difference between the Dare formula (p-value 0.147) and actual birth weight; however, a significant difference was found between the Risanto formula (p-value 0.000) and actual birth weight. Based on ROC testing, the Dare formula showed an accuracy of 87%, while the Risanto formula had an accuracy of 65%. Conclusion: Fetal weight estimation using the Dare formula demonstrated a higher level of accuracy compared to the Risanto formula in predicting birth weight Keywords: Estimated fetal weight, Birth weight, Maternity

Abstract

Abstract Background: Chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) is a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, closely associated with central obesity. The waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) is a sensitive anthropometric indicator for detecting visceral fat distribution and cardiometabolic risk. Meanwhile, functional capacity can be assessed through the 6-minute walk test (6MWT), reflecting patients' ability to perform daily activities. However, few studies have examined the relationship between WHtR and 6MWT, particularly in CCS Objective: To determine the correlation between WHtR and 6MWT results in CCS patients at Hj. Bunda Halimah Hospital, Batam City. Methods: This pilot study with cross-sectional design involved 20 selected patients with consecutive sampling. All patients were given optimal CCS treatment and were chronic patients of cardiac outpatient clinic. Data were collected through anthropometric measurements (waist circumference and height) and 6MWT following standard protocol. Pearson’s correlation test was used to analyze the relationship between WHtR and 6MWT results. Results: Most respondents had central obesity with WHtR ≥ 0.5 (55%). The mean 6MWT distance was 448.10 m in the control group and 429.40 m in the intervention group (p<0.001). Pearson’s test revealed a significant negative correlation between WHtR and 6MWT (r = -0.719; p < 0.001). There was a significant negative relationship between WHtR and 6MWT results in CCS patient. Discussion and Conclusion: This study shows that a higher WHtR results in a shorter 6MWT distance, or lower functional capacity, in patients with CCS who have received optimal treatment. This suggests that a high WHtR indicates the presence of residual risk factors such as inflammation and ongoing oxidative stress. WHtR is not only a simple indicator for predicting functional capacity and cardiometabolic risk in this population, but also serves as a target for cardiac rehabilitation to improve the functional capacity. Keywords: Coronary artery disease; WHtR; 6-Minute Walk Test; functional capacity; central obesity.
