Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role in economic development, yet many struggle with poor performance due to inadequate strategic management capabilities. This study examines the relationship between strategic management training and firm performance among SME managers in South-East Nigeria. The objectives are to assess the extent of strategic management training received by SME managers in South-East Nigeria, evaluate the impact of strategic management training on the performance metrics of SMEs in South-East Nigeria and identify the challenges encountered by SME managers in applying strategic management principles after undergoing training. Te study adopted a correlation analysis while simple regression was used to test hypotheses. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing a survey method. Data were collected from 300 SME managers using structured questionnaires. The instrument was validated through expert review and reliability was confirmed using Cronbach’s alpha. Descriptive and inferential statistics, including regression analysis, were used for data analysis. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between strategic management training and firm performance, with improvements observed in growth, efficiency, and profitability. The study concludes that structured strategic management training enhances SME performance, recommending targeted training programs to improve managerial capabilities. Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of transformational leadership in primary schools within the Lindi Region of Tanzania, emphasizing on teacher’s engagement on enhancing Pupils academic performance. Grounded in pragmatism, the research employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative data gathered through questionnaires and interviews, to provide a comprehensive understanding of leadership practices in educational settings. A total of 360 participants, including 356 primary school teachers and 4 key informants, were involved in the study, representing a diverse range of perspectives on leadership effectiveness. Findings revealed a noteworthy perception among educators regarding the role of head teachers in fostering a collaborative and motivating environment. A significant 75% of respondents acknowledge that transformational leadership principles, such as inspiring and empowering teachers, are effectively integrated into school management practices. However, despite these positive perceptions, a critical gap is identified in the practical implementation of teachers’ engagement and parental involvement, with only 37.36% of respondents strongly agreeing on the effectiveness of these efforts. Data analysis indicates that head teachers frequently engage in school activities and focus on motivating teachers, crucial for cultivating a culture of respect and collaboration. The findings further highlight the necessity of enhancing capacity building among school leaders to translate transformational leadership style ideals into practices. The study underscores the significance of ongoing professional development and the establishment of comprehensive frameworks that facilitate stakeholder engagement in school governance. Overall, the findings illustrate the transformative potential of effective leadership practices in primary schools in Lindi region and Tanzania as whole.

Abstract

Learning English syntax is crucial for language learning. This qualitative study explores the experiences of English major students in learning syntax. The study utilized a case study approach incorporating the Sharan B. Merriam technique and data triangulation method. Through the interviews with the twenty English major students enrolled in one of the private schools in Pagadian City, categorization was utilized to categorize and identify the sub-categories that emerge. The findings reveal that students engaged in activities such as sentence structure identification, sentence tree diagramming, board activities, assessment-based activities, and interactive activities. The primary challenges included difficulty with parts of speech identification, struggle in sentence structuring, challenge in syntax rule application, and problems with complex sentence structure. To cope, students relied on memorizing and familiarizing, studying independently, collaborating in groups, and seeking guidance from teachers. While students found syntax challenging and time-consuming, they acknowledged its importance in language proficiency. The study highlights the need for supportive instructional strategies to enhance student engagement and comprehension.

Abstract

Translation is a crucial ability for those pursuing linguistics, especially in relation to English. The swift advancement of 4.0 technology and the proliferation of various artificial intelligence apps have conferred signigicant benefits upon language learners. Translation encompasses more than only changing a sentence from one language to another; it involves effectively conveying the speaker’s point to the listener. Consequently, the barriers encountered by learners, alongside elements pertaining to vocabular, semantics, and culture which is considered as the initial obstacle faced by translation learners is the gramatical disparity between the source language (SL) and the target language (TL). This study utilizes a mixed-method approach, integrating the quantitative method via a mini test and survey and the qualitative method through semi-structured interviews, to identify the types and frequency of grammatical errors commonly made by Vietnamese translation learners; to comprehend learners’s perceptions regarding the significance of grammar in translation; and to investigate the grammatical challenges faced by translation learners. The research findings indicate that learners acknowledge the importance of grammar and the grammatical obstacles to producing a natural translation, as well as the prevalence of specific types of grammatical errors occurring more often in Vietnamese – the learners’ first language (L1) and English (L2) translaitons compared to L2 to L1 translations.

Abstract

Impostor Syndrome merupakan kondisi psikologis individu yang merasa pencapaian prestasi hanya sebuah keberuntungan dan takut terekspose sehingga dapat memicu kecemasan akademik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji secara empiris bagaimana hubungan antara Achievement Goal Orientation dan Kecemasan Akademik pada siswa SMA dengan Impostor Syndrome. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik stratified random sampling dan ditemukan 179 siswa mengalami Impostor Syndrome di SMA X Karanganyar. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah skala Achievement Goal Orientation dan skala Kecemasan Akademik yang dikonstruksi menggunakan teori dari Ottens (1991) dan Elliot & McGregor (2001). Kedua alat ukur tersebut berada di rentang validitas 0.88-1.00 dan memiliki indeks daya beda > 0.30. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jika terdapat hubungan negatif antara kedua variabel dengan nilai koefisien korelasi -0.329 yang menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif dan relatif lemah. Hal ini menggambarkan jika semakin tinggi Achievement Goal Orientation maka semakin rendah Kecemasan Akademik yang dirasakan siswa dengan Impostor Syndrome, dengan koefisien determinasi 10.8%. Selain itu uji homogenitas menunjukkan skor sig. 2-tailed 0.647 yang mengindikasikan jika tidak ada pengaruh signifikan antara Achievement Goal Orientation dengan Kecemasan Akademik ditinjau dari jenis kelamin siswa SMA yang mengalami Impostor Syndrome. Dengan adanya penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu siswa untuk menentukan arah orientasi tujuan prestasi mereka agar dapat meminimalisir terjadinya Kecemasan Akademik bagi siswa yang mengalami Impostor Syndrome.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kendala yang dihadapi guru dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar sejarah siswa, menganalisis peran kompetensi sosial guru dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar, serta menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi motivasi belajar siswa di SMK Prajnaparamita Malang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi pada kelas 10 Perhotelan dan 4 guru sejarah di SMK Prajnaparamita Malang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru menghadapi kendala berupa perbedaan zaman dan karakter siswa yang beragam dan tantangan dalam menghubungkan materi teoritis dengan kebutuhan praktis siswa. Peran kompetensi sosial guru, meliputi kemampuan berkomunikasi, empati, dan membangun hubungan interpersonal yang positif, sangat penting dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif serta meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Guru yang mampu mempersiapkan siswa dengan orientasi pembelajaran interaktif serta menyesuaikan metode dengan karakter siswa berhasil meningkatkan minat dan motivasi belajar siswa secara signifikan. Selain itu, faktor internal seperti minat dan kepercayaan diri siswa, serta faktor eksternal seperti dukungan guru, orang tua, dan lingkungan belajar ikut memengaruhi motivasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa pengembangan kompetensi sosial guru adalah kunci utama dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar sejarah yang berdampak positif pada hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berupa e-jobsheet sistem rem berbasis liveworksheet guna meningkatkan keterampilan praktik peserta didik SMK Miftahus Sa’adah Wirosari pada kompetensi sistem rem. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, dan Evaluate. Produk dikembangkan dalam bentuk jobsheet digital interaktif yang divalidasi oleh ahli materi dan ahli media. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa media berada pada kategori sangat baik, dengan persentase rata-rata sebesar 80,72% dari ahli media dan 83,72% dari ahli materi. Implementasi produk dilakukan kepada 30 siswa kelas XI Jurusan TBSM SMK Miftahus Sa’adah Wirosari, dengan hasil menunjukkan peningkatan nilai rata-rata dari pretest sebesar 62,03 menjadi posttest sebesar 83,37. Hasil uji-t menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara pretest dan posttest (sig 0,000 < 0,05), sedangkan nilai N-Gain sebesar 53,17% termasuk kategori sedang. Respon siswa terhadap media menunjukkan bahwa 93,34% menyatakan media layak digunakan dengan rata-rata tanggapan sebesar 70,30%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media e-jobsheet berbasis liveworksheet layak dan efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran praktik sistem rem di SMK.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan karena terdapat permasalahan yang membuat peneliti ingin melakukan kajian yang lebih mendalam dimana terdapat rendahnya tingkat sikap kedisiplinan peserta didik ketika di kelas dan berdampak menurunya prestasi belajar peserta didik. Sehingga perlu dilakukan peningkatan agar mendapatkan hasil yang sesuai dengan kkm di sekolah. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dimana menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif Team Game Tournament TGT, dengan bantuan media belajar aplikasi qreatif educativ untuk mendukung permainan dalam pembelajar tipe TGT ini. Disini fokus objek terhadap kelas IV, dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi sikap kedisplinan, angket kedisiplinan, observasi guru, observasi siswa. Kemudian didapat hasil dari siklus I dan siklus II yaitu rata-rata 55,25 dengan kriteria cukup dan siklus II rata-rata 77,3 baik, hasil angket pada siklus I dan II yaitu Nilai 70 dengan kriteria Baik dan siklus II Nilai 81 dengan kriteria Baik sekali, hasil observasi guru 74 dengan kriteria baik dan siklus II 94 dengan kriteria Baik seklai dan pretasi belajar mendapat rata-rata siklus I 65 % dengan kriteria Cukup dan siklus II 77,5%. Ini menunjukan adamya peningkatan sikap kedisiplinan dan pretasi belajar pada peserta didik.

Abstract

21st century education requires mastery of various skills, one of which is critical thinking skills. This skill is very important for students in understanding phenomena and solving problems in everyday life, including in science learning. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Educaplay media as an educational game in improving critical thinking skills of fifth grade students in the solar system material. The research method used is an experiment with a Matching Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of two fifth grade classes at SDN 190 Palembang which were divided into experimental and control classes, each consisting of 23 students. The instrument used was a critical thinking ability test based on the Ennis indicator. Data analysis with normality, homogeneity and t-test tests to determine significant differences between the control class and the experimental class. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results in the experimental class using Educaplay media compared to the control class. This proves that the use of Educaplay media is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. This media is able to present fun, interactive, and challenging learning, thus encouraging students to think analytically and reflectively.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital-based learning media in the form of a snakes and ladders application for the Social and Natural Sciences (IPAS) subject, specifically on the topic of "The Arrival of the Dutch in Indonesia," for fifth-grade elementary school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The validation results indicated that the developed media is highly valid, with average expert scores of 90% (media expert), 91% (subject matter expert), and 88% (language expert). Practicality tests involving student responses from one-on-one trials, small group trials, and teacher questionnaires yielded scores of 93%, 93%, and 89% respectively, all categorized as “very practical.” Effectiveness was measured through a learning outcomes test with 16 students, showing an average N-Gain score of 0.73, classified as “high” or “very effective.” It can be concluded that the digital snakes and ladders learning application is valid, practical, and effective for use in fifth-grade IPAS learning activities, especially at SD Negeri 32 Prabumulih.
