Abstract

Natural disasters such as droughts occur gradually and last until the start of the rainy season. Meteorological drought happens when a region experiences periods of below-average rainfall, resulting in lower water availability in the soil compared to its needs. The Tangsi Sub-Watershed traverses the districts of Kajoran, Salaman, Kaliangkrik, Borobudur, and Tempuran. It is part of the Progo Watershed, which is under the administrative boundary of Magelang Regency. The variation in climate and the landforms of the Tangsi Sub-Watershed, which are dominated by materials that are less permeable to water, make this area prone to drought. This research analyzes meteorological drought in the Tangsi Sub-Watershed, Magelang Regency by using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) and Drought Hazard Index (DHI). The analysis from quarterly SPI from 1994 to 2023 indicates that the Tangsi Sub-Watershed experienced a medium drought hazard level with a score of 14. The Tangsi Sub-Watershed experienced extreme drought events at 2.22%, high drought at 3.89%, and moderate drought at 6.94%. Long-term drought risk analysis can be used by communities and governments to plan and implement mitigation measures ahead of time by revealing patterns and intensities of recurrent droughts.

Abstract

One of the regions in Indonesia with a relatively high risk of landslides is West Bandung Regency, West Java Province. Given its active land use and dense population, this area becomes more vulnerable to the impacts of natural disasters. The objective of this research was to identify the elements and contributing causes of landslide vulnerability, especially for West Bandung Regency's tourism sector. The robust vulnerability scenarios were generated by using Spatial Multi-Criteria Evaluation (SMCE). Four scenarios of equal vulnerability, social vulnerability (SV), physical vulnerability (PV), and environmental vulnerability (EV) are produced using the SMCE technique. According to the scenario results, three districts, Rongga, Cipatat, and Parongpong, show dynamic vulnerability, whilst the remaining districts show consistent classes. The quantity of visitors and physical infrastructure, such as access to the road, are examples of social elements that significantly impact the degree of vulnerability. The study's findings led to the creation of three vulnerability classes in West Bandung Regency: low class, with values between 1.34 and 1.78, medium class, with values between 1.79 and 2.07; and high class, with values between 2.08 and 2.36. The photo-tagged map of road access and tourist destinations in West Bandung Regency provides in-depth insight into the factors that influence the vulnerability of tourist destinations, taking into account disaster risks due to geographical conditions, infrastructure readiness, and the effectiveness of mitigation efforts in balancing tourism development and environmental resilience.

Abstract

The equality of women's rights and obligations in politics is an issue that has long been debated, especially in the context of Islam. Surah An-Naml verses 23-24 tells the leadership of Queen Saba', which is one of the evidences in the Qur'an regarding the role of women in politics. This study aims to examine the rights, obligations, roles, and positions of women in politics through the analysis of the interpretation of Surah An-Naml verses 23-24. The method used is a thematic interpretation approach by referring to various classical and contemporary interpretations, such as Tafsir Al-Misbah, Tafsir Al-Azhar, and Tafsir Al-Maraghi. The results of the study show that Islam does not absolutely prohibit women from participating in politics, even in leadership, as long as they have the capacity and are able to carry out their mandate well. The story of Ratu Saba' illustrates how a woman can be a wise, democratic, and strategically minded leader in making decisions. This research is expected to provide an overview that Islam recognizes the role of women in politics, while still paying attention to the principles of justice, benefit, and moral responsibility. Therefore, a broader and contextual understanding of the verses of the Qur'an is needed so that there is no gender bias in interpreting the role of women in political life.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the principles of life contained in Surah An-Nisa verse 36, especially in building fraternal ties as the foundation of community life. The main issue raised is how the values taught in the verse can be implemented in modern life, which is often colored by social conflicts and lack of solidarity. This verse underlines the importance of a harmonious relationship between humans and Allah (habl min Allah) and relationships between fellow humans (habl min al-nas), which are the core of life based on Islamic values. The research method used is library research which focuses on content analysis of Surah An-Nisa verse 36. This study analyzes relevant Qur'anic verses as well as the opinions of mufasirs, supported by other literature that discusses social relations and human values. The results of the study show that Surah An-Nisa verse 36 emphasizes four main principles: monotheism, kindness to parents, strengthening family relationships, and concern for vulnerable groups. The implementation of these principles can improve the quality of social relations and encourage the creation of a peaceful and prosperous society. This research is significant because it provides practical guidance for individuals and communities to build a harmonious life based on the teachings of the Qur'an, especially in the context of the challenges of modern life.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning of jihad in the Qur'an using Toshihiko Izutsu's semantic approach, which emphasizes the importance of word relationships within semantic networks and historical contexts. Employing a qualitative method based on textual studies, this research analyzes Qur'anic verses containing the term jihad through syntagmatic and paradigmatic approaches. Data were taken from verses such as Surah At-Taubah (9:20, 9:41), Surah Al-Ankabut (29:69), and Surah Al-Hajj (22:78), using classical references like Mufradat Alfadz al-Qur'an by Al-Raghib Al-Isfahani and Lisan al-Arab by Ibn Manzur. The findings indicate that jihad is a multidimensional concept encompassing spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. Collocations such as jihad fi sabilillah and jihad with wealth and self emphasize devotion to Allah, while its relationships with terms like qital (war), sabr (patience), and hijrah (migration) enrich the semantic network of jihad. Diachronically, the concept evolved from a secular understanding during the pre-Qur'anic era to an ethical and spiritual concept in the Qur'anic period and was later institutionalized in Islamic law post-Qur'anic period. This study contributes to enriching Qur'anic studies by offering a holistic analytical framework, helping correct misinterpretations of jihad, and supporting Islamic education through a more contextual understanding. Future studies are recommended to involve empirical data, classical exegesis, and other linguistic approaches to broaden perspectives.
