Abstract

This study investigates how social influence, online word of mouth (WOM), and brand trust shape the purchase intentions of Malaysian university students, with a focus on the mediating role of brand trust. Using a quantitative design, an online survey of 152 students was analyzed with structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings show that purchase intention is positively predicted by perceived social influence (? = 0.448), online WOM (? = 0.310), and brand trust (? = 0.211), supporting H1–H3. Brand trust is also positively predicted by social influence (? = 0.320) and online WOM (? = 0.519), supporting H4–H5 and indicating a mediating pathway from online WOM and social influence to purchase intention via brand trust. The explained variance is R² = 0.019 for purchase intention and R² = 0.574 for brand trust. Overall, the results confirm that online WOM, social influence, and brand trust are key drivers of student purchase intention, with online WOM exerting the strongest effect on brand trust. These insights contribute to the literature on digital consumption and offer practical guidance for marketers and brands targeting Malaysian students to strengthen trust-building and WOM-based engagement strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the influence of psychological factors namely, subjective norm, attitude and perceived control on purchase intention through artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of e-commerce. The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) are used to explain the relationship between these psychological variables and the acceptance of AI technology. Data were analysed using the structural equation modelling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS) method. The results showed that subjective norms and perceived control significantly and positively affected both AI and purchase intention, directly and through AI mediation. However, attitude had no significant effect on AI or purchase intention through AI. These findings make a theoretical contribution by expanding the application of TPB and TAM in the context of AI-based technology, while also providing e-commerce companies with practical insights to enhance user experience through AI-based personalisation

Abstract

E-hailing has become an increasingly popular mode of transportation in Southeast Asia, with GrabCar being one of the leading platforms offering convenient and affordable mobility solutions. This study aims to investigate the factors influencing customer experience and satisfaction in using GrabCar services. The independent variables include perceived ease of use, perceived fare, perceived trust, perceived risk, and perceived convenience, with customer experience serving as a mediating variable and customer satisfaction as the dependent variable. A quantitative method was applied through a structured questionnaire distributed to 150 respondents from Malaysia, Indonesia, and India, and the data were analyzed using SPSS. The regression results show that customer experience is significantly influenced by perceived ease of use (? = 0.221, p .001), perceived fare (? = 0.174, p .01), and perceived risk (? = 0.423, p .001), while customer satisfaction is affected by perceived fare (? = 0.341, p .001), perceived convenience (? = 0.251, p .001), and customer experience (? = 0.407, p .001). GrabCar should prioritize fair pricing, user-friendly design, safety, and convenience to enhance experience and satisfaction.

Abstract

This study examines how the organizational corporate social responsibility climate (OCSRC) influences employees’ innovative job performance through the mediating roles of job satisfaction, work motivation, and employee creativity. Using a quantitative design, data were collected from 153 full-time employees in Malaysia. Regression analyses revealed that OCSRC significantly enhances job satisfaction (? = 0.896, p 0.001), work motivation (? = 0.276, p 0.001), and employee creativity (? = 0.213, p 0.01). Job satisfaction positively affects work motivation (? = 0.607, p 0.001) and creativity (? = 0.217, p 0.01), while work motivation influences both creativity (? = 0.429, p 0.001) and innovative job performance (? = 0.176, p 0.05). Employee creativity emerges as the strongest determinant of innovation (? = 0.880, p 0.001). The model explains 83.5% of the variance in innovative job performance (R² = 0.835). These results confirm that CSR climate indirectly drives innovation through satisfaction, motivation, and creativity, aligning with Social Exchange and Self-Determination theories. The study contributes by positioning CSR as an internal strategic resource that enhances psychological engagement and innovation in Malaysian organizations

Abstract

The rapid rise of TikTok as a dominant social media platform has raised concerns regarding its influence on youth cognitive functioning and academic performance. This study investigates how patterns of TikTok usage, including frequency of use, usage timing, and habitual or impulsive engagement, affect sleep quality, attention span, and academic performance among Malaysian youth. A quantitative research design was applied, and data were collected through an online survey involving 185 TikTok users aged between 15 and 30 years, followed by correlation and multiple regression analyses. Findings show that habitual or impulsive engagement produced the strongest negative effects, significantly reducing sleep quality (? = 0.296), attention span (? = 0.255), and academic performance (? = 0.296). Usage timing was also found to significantly impair sleep quality (? = 0.440), especially when participants engaged with TikTok late at night. Further, sleep quality (? = 0.155) and attention span (? = 0.426) positively predicted academic performance, with the overall model explaining more than 60 percent of the variance in the key outcome variables. The study concludes that unregulated and impulsive TikTok use undermines cognitive endurance and academic engagement, suggesting the need for digital literacy education, sleep hygiene awareness, and self regulation strategies to promote healthier and more balanced social media usage among youth.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between work-life balance (WLB), job satisfaction, and in-role job performance among Malaysian employees. WLB is conceptualized as a multidimensional construct encompassing six factors: nature of work, work flexibility, workload, compensation, organizational support, and personal life. Using a quantitative explanatory design, data were collected from 96 full-time employees across various industries in Malaysia through an online survey. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The results show that work flexibility (? = 0.122, p .05), workload (? = 0.145, p .01), organizational support (? = 0.148, p .01), and personal life (? = 0.325, p .001) significantly enhance job performance, while compensation (? = 0.251, p .01), organizational support (? = 0.186, p .05), and personal life (? = 0.567, p .001) significantly improve job satisfaction. Job satisfaction also positively influences job performance (? = 0.850, p .001). The models explained 53.3% of the variance in job satisfaction and 77.7% in job performance. These findings validate the mediating role of job satisfaction and highlight the importance of supportive and flexible work environments for improving employee outcomes within Malaysia’s evolving workplace context

Abstract

The agribusiness sector plays a strategic role in producing food for the community. The agribusiness sector consists of several interrelated subsystems. When a disruption occurs in one subsystem, it will affect the other subsystems. The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance of the agribusiness subsystem in vegetable farming in Kehiran Village, East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency. Based on the results of the study, it shows various agribusiness index scores, namely: the production input procurement subsystem was 15.80, the farming subsystem was 19.90, and the marketing subsystem was 5.80. All four subsystems are in the good category. The service and support subsystem index was 4.55, indicating a poor category. The agribusiness system index score in vegetable farming was 13.486. The maximum value of the agribusiness system was 18.090, so the performance of the agribusiness system in vegetable farming was in the poor category. Based on this, the development of vegetable farming in Kehiran Village must be supported by other aspects. For example, ease of access to capital loans for farmers, intensity of extension activities, formation of farming cooperatives, and the active role of farmer groups as a means of learning and a source of information for farmers.

Abstract

This study investigates how e-wallet usage affects financial literacy, spending behavior, financial stress, and financial well-being among Malaysian undergraduates. Using a quantitative, cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 200 students across public and private universities using an online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. The results analyzed through SPSS 26 involved descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. The findings revealed significant positive correlations among all variables (p .01). Regression results showed that financial literacy (? = 0.751, p .001) and spending behavior (? = 0.074, p .05) significantly influenced financial well-being, explaining 62.8% of the variance (R² = 0.628). Conversely, e-wallet usage (? = -0.022) and financial stress (? = 0.105) were insignificant predictors. The study concludes that while digital payment systems enhance financial access, their impact on financial stability depends heavily on financial literacy and responsible spending. These findings imply that universities should integrate financial literacy education into digital finance programs to ensure balanced e-wallet usage and improved student financial well-being.

Abstract

This article substantiates the relevance of multilingual education in alignment with Kyrgyzstan’s national development strategies, which emphasize preparing citizens proficient in multiple languages. The study examines the potential of the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methodology as an effective approach to achieving these national objectives. The main purpose of this research is to explore the theoretical foundations and practical benefits of CLIL in a multilingual educational environment and to develop recommendations for training future teachers. An action research design was implemented in three cycles, each comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were students from Jalal-Abad State University, and their language development was monitored throughout the study. The findings demonstrated a notable improvement in Russian language proficiency following the implementation of CLIL and extracurricular language activities: the proportion of students achieving level B1 increased by 14%, and level A1 by 19%. The third measurement confirmed that 38.4% of students reached level A2 and 50% level A1. Overall, the CLIL methodology proved to be a promising and practical tool for improving linguistic, cognitive, and professional competencies, supporting the preparation of competitive specialists for multilingual and international educational contexts.
