Abstract

People need money during the Covid-19 pandemic as it is today because of the large number of layoffs and unemployment. The government provides cash assistance to people affected by the pandemic. Cash assistance is to ease the economic burden on the community, but it is indicated that the assistance is used to meet hedonic needs. If true, then the program is not as expected by the government. The purpose of this study is to determine whether social assistance funds are used to meet the needs of life or only for hedonic desires. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of hedonic shopping and money available on impulse buying with positive emotion as an intervening variable. The number of samples in the study was 213 respondents. This study uses Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The results showed that the effect of hedonic shopping on impulse buying through positive emotion was positively related (os=0.112; p<0.05). The effect of money available on impulse buying through positive emotion is positively related (os=0,270; p<0,05). Positive emotion will further strengthen hedonic shopping and money available in impulse buying. It is recommended that people who receive cash assistance avoid being in the store for too long because they are afraid that they will receive a store stimulus. Initially, maybe people with funds will not do impulse buying, but if they get comfort, tranquillity, and warmth in the store (positive emotion), they will tend to do impulse buying. It is better for people to determine in advance the products they will buy.Keyword: impulse buying, cash assisement, consumption

Abstract

Infrastructure development is considered as a locomotive that accelerates the pace of the economy in a region. The success of the development process is generally measured by economic growth. This study aims to analyze the effect of road infrastructure development on the economic growth of districts/cities in East Java and identify differences in the economic growth of East Java districts/cities before and after road infrastructure development. To answer the first research objective, panel data regression was used in 38 districts/cities in East Java with the dependent variable being economic growth, and the independent variable measuring the availability of infrastructure. Furthermore, to answer the second research objective, paired t-test was used. Road infrastructure, as well as government spending on public services and capital were found affecting economic growth at a decreasing rate. Tax revenue found to boost economic growth, implying that tax still one of the main instrument driving growths. Lastly, during the development of infrastructure, no significant difference has been found in economic growth. Indicates that the development effect on growth is a long-term effect. The results contribute to the discussion regarding the determinants of regional economic growth and how development can affect the economic growth of one or more regions. Keywords: Economic Growth, Infrastructure, East Java.

Abstract

The sustainability report has attracted the attention of various business organizations and has become an essential issue in corporate sustainability and already required to report based on POJK No 16/SEOJK.04/2021. This study examines the relationship between board diversity and corporate social responsibility (CSR). This study used the nationality and educational dimension of board diversity by applying Blau's index. The upper echelons, stakeholders, and resource dependence theory are used to evaluate the hypothesized relationship through an empirical investigation of Indonesia's listed companies from 2011 to 2021. Indonesia used a two-tier corporate governance system, and this paper has been hypothesized by the board of directors (BOD) ) and board of commissioners (BOC) systems. BOD and CSR used CEO overconfidence as a moderating variable because there was a direct relationship between BOD and CEO overconfidence. Control variables for this paper are (1) profitability, (2) leverage, (3) size, (4) board meetings, and (5) board size. The results showed that the Board of Directors (BOD) positively related to CSR. CEO Overconfidence also strengthens the relationship between the Board of Directors (BOD) Educational and CSR in the company.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze empirically the impact of adoption of certified seeds on household cost efficiency of seasonal horticultural cultivation. This study uses data  from Cost Structure of Horticultural Cultivation Household Survey  (SOUH) 2018, Statictics Indonesia. The cost inefficiency variable is estimated using a one-step stochastic frontier. The results of the descriptive data show that labor costs are the biggest costs in the seasonal horticultural cultivation. On average, the proportion of households that adopt certified seed is still lower than households that do not adopt certified seed. In addition, the cost composition between adopters and non-adopters is different. The results of the stochastic frontier analysis show that the adoption of certified seeds has a positive effect on cost inefficiency, meaning that the adoption of certified seeds actually increases cost inefficiency/reduces cost efficiency. The impact of adopting certified seeds has not yet been felt by farmers because it has not lasted long.

Abstract

The assets of the foundation can be in the form of money or goods, whether it comes from donations, endowments, grants, will grants and other acquisitions that do not conflict with the Foundation's Articles of Association or the prevailing laws and regulations. The foundation must periodically make an accountability report for the funds obtained from donors in detail related to the planned use of funds receipts and expenditure plans. Foundation funding assistance is usually a non-permanent aid, so institutions will be very vulnerable to financial difficulties if the expenditure is greater than the incoming funds, especially during the current pandemic. Foundation management must be able to think critically in strategic financial plans for foundation funds, so that if the funds they have are limited they will be able to allocate them appropriately and efficiently

Abstract

This research focuses on traders in Parung Market, aiming to discuss Moneylender and the welfare of traders in the Parung Market from theological and economic perspectives. The purpose of this study is: (1) to determine the existence of Moneylender in trading, (2) Moneylender from a theological perspective, and (3) to analyze the impact of Moneylender practices on the welfare of traders in Parung Market from an economic perspective. This research is a descriptive-qualitative research method with a critical paradigm approach in a case study research method. The primary data collection method is observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Data processing and analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. While testing the validity of the data is done by testing the credibility. This research’s findings indicate that Moneylender have existed since 2013 due to the need for capital and the absence of financial institutions that provide capital lending facilities. In addition, the mechanism for accounts payable is carried out with an easy process, but debt payments use the installment system daily. Moneylender harms the welfare of traders in Parung Market. From a theological perspective, the practice of usury by Moneylenders is not following the principles of Islamic economics, namely the principle of justice, the principle of Ta’awun, and Maslahat, so it does not meet the spiritual needs of traders. Meanwhile, from an economic perspective, capital loans from Moneylender can only meet capital needs for the short term and support the business being carried out because the interest charged to traders is very high

Abstract

Natural disaster risks are things that need to be prioritized in relation to economic activities. The intensity of disasters is getting higher and it is necessary to know what the impact will be. Therefore, this study wants to see how much influence economic activity, population development, and the government's role have on the level of disaster risk. The panel regression model is used on secondary data from 38 districts/cities from 2015 to 2021 as a database. Based on the estimation results, there are several findings in this study: (i) increased environmental preservation and the role of the government can reduce the level of disaster risk (ii) economic activity and population density leads to an increase in disaster risk. As a result, areas with a high level of disaster risk have economic activities that need to improve prospects for a sustainable green economy and population density that causes land use change. Nevertheless, the government's role in spending is felt to be able to reduce the level of disaster risk. Of course by increasing nature conservation to reduce environmental damage.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the determinant of inclusive economic growth in Banten Province based on the Three Stages Least Squares (3SLS) method using panel data from 8 regency/municipality during 2011-2020 (except 2016). The results show that the government’s role through capital expenditure doesn’t have a significant effect on inclusive economic growth directly but it has an indirect effect through increasing economic activity and decreasing the unemployment rate. Based on regional financial performances, there is only the Audit Board’s opinion that has a significant positive effect on inclusive economic growth, while the independence ratio and effectiveness ratio have no effect. In accelerating inclusive economic growth in Banten, the local government has to increase economic growth and reduce the unemployment rate. The number of labor and higher education labor positively impact economic activity, while high investment can reduce the unemployment rate. However, Banten’s economy is capital intensive. Hence, the equitable distribution of appropriate capital expenditure allocations to support labor-intensive investment needs to be improved, besides enhancing the caliber of human resources and regional financial performances. Keywords: Banten, Economic Growth, Inclusive Economic Growth, Three Stages Least Squares, Unemployment

Abstract

The continuity of quality health services supported by financial independence is the focus of research. Whether during the COVID-19 pandemic, public hospitals could be financially independent is an important question for this research. Study aims to assess the financial independence at public hospital as the regional public service body (BLUD) during COVID-19. This study uses a comparative descriptive approach by comparing data before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The secondary data used are financial reports, patient visit data, and reports on the results of the community satisfaction index (IKM) survey from the Public Hospital AM. The results show that financial independence and community satisfaction for services have better impact to public hospital during COVID-19. Although patients gave a satisfied assessment of health services, the pandemic period had a negative impact on decreasing patient visits. In short, the decreasing number of patients does not affect financial independence and the quality of health services in public hospitals, on the contrary, it increases. This means that there is an increase in income from other sources that are not directly related to health services. Keywords: Community Satisfaction Index, COVID-19 Pandemic, Financial Independence, Health Services, Public Hospital, Public Service Body, Quality of Services.
