Abstract

One of the efforts to reduce exhaust emissions in vehicles is by adding addictive substances to premium fuels, one of the addictive substances in fuel mixing is ethanol. Ethanol is a high-octane fuel and can be used to increase the octane rating in fuel, which comes from sugary plants (sucrose) such as sugar cane, palm juice, coconut juice, etc., starchy plants (flour) cassava, sweet potato, sago, corn, etc. , and cellulose (legnocellulose) plants of wood, straw, and banana stems. Because the content of ethanol has many benefits, including increasing engine performance, saving fuel use, cleaning the combustion chamber, and being able to reduce exhaust emissions, this is because in the ethanol content there is oxygen which helps combustion in the combustion chamber more completely. This study aims to reduce the value of CO and HC concentrations and increase CO . emission levels2 on motorized vehicles. This test is carried out by adding the percentage of ethanol mixture that is 15%, 30%, 45% in premium fuel with engine speed variations of 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, and 4000 rpm. the average decrease is significant from 2000-4000 engine speed, but the largest decrease occurred at 2000 rpm for the E30% of 2.15%, namely from 4.28% to 2.13%. While the concentration of HC emissions from 2000-4000 rpm decreased, the most decreased occurred at 4000 rpm for E30%, which was 270 ppm to 149 ppm.Keywords : ethanol, exhaust emissions

Abstract

Welding is a metal joining method that utilizes the penetration of heat or heat produced. Heat and then the cooling of the metal joints is a natural phenomenom. The cooling temperature is so fast that is creates a variety of structures so that the mechanicalability of a metal changes. This study aims to determine the effect of hardening with different cooling media on the result of SMAW welding. The test of the highest tensile strength value in the hardening proses with axe oil cooling media was 467.51N/mm2 and the lowest tensile strength value in the hardening process with charcoal powder cooling media was 427.40N/mm2. The highest hardening value test was in the hardening process using low temperature water cooling media of 202.62HB and the lowest hardening value in the hardening process using charcoal powder cooling media was 149.92HB.Key Word: SMAW welding, Hardening, Axle oil, Charcoal powder, Low temperature water

Abstract

Transportation is an important thing in everyday life, especially to support activities that are full of mobility. This makes private vehicle users continue to grow. Therefore, it is necessary to improve performance from all aspects such as comfort, security, and stability. The braking system is one of the important aspects in vehicle design which has a major effect on safety and stability. The purpose of this study was to compare the performance of ABS and Non ABS brakes on Avanza cars to compare the braking distance and time. This test was carried out by direct braking practice on a straight road and repeated 2 times at each speed. The test was carried out with variations in speed, namely 40 km/hour, 50 km/hour, 60 km/hour, 70 km/hour, and 80 km/hour. The results of the car braking test with ABS and Non ABS technology for a speed of 40 Km/hour ABS brakes are 1.70 seconds while Non ABS brakes are 1.78 seconds. So the time difference is 0.08 seconds. For a speed of 80 km/h, the ABS brake is 3.31 seconds while the Non ABS brake is 3.39 seconds, so the difference is 0.08 seconds. From these data, it can be concluded that at a speed of 40 km/hour compared to a speed of 80 km/hour, the time difference is the same, namely 0.08 seconds. at each test speed. In addition, the length of braking time required for each speed variation on vehicles with the ABS braking system is shorter than the non-ABS braking system. Abstract

Drying technique plays a very important role in determining the quality and continuity of the tapioca flour manufacturing process. Traditionally the drying process is carried out by farmers by utilizing the sun's heat, but problems occur when the rainy season comes while production must continue to meet needs. which requires a large area of land and is very dependent on the weather with a lot of hot sun. Based on the analysis of the results of data processing using the Taguci experimental method to determine the optimum design of the main dimensions of the economizer in the laundry factory, the following conclusions are obtained. Effect of tube diameter, lay out, pitch ratio and excess area on the economizer Tube diameter (dO) has a significant effect on the amount tube and shell diameter (Ds).Picth ratio (PR) has a significant effect on shell diameter (Ds) but has no significant effect on the number of tubes. Excess area has a significant effect on the number of tubes but has no significant effect on shell diameter (Ds).Lay out has the same effect on shell diameter and tube number. Optimum economizer conditions. Optimum tube number ( Nt ) is obtained from a combination of tube diameter ( do ) 0.0254 m, excess area (PR) 1.2 , lay out 30o and pitch ratio 1 ,2. The optimum shell diameter is obtained from a combination of tube diameter (do) 0.0381 m, pitch ratio (PR) 1.2, excess area 1.2 and lay out 30o.Keywords: Dryer, Shell Diameter, Tube Diameter

Abstract

Technological developments that continue to develop today are increasingly making it easier for humans to do their jobs, as well as what is happening in the automotive world with the existence of these new technologies, it will make it easier for mechanics to do their jobs because of demands from consumers or desires and the mechanics themselves are constantly evolving. Knowing the effect of standard exhaust and modifications to the power and torque of the RX king 135cc motorcycle. This test was carried out using a dynotest tool, the influence of a standard exhaust and a modified exhaust of 2mm, 4mm, 6mm, and 8mm filter holes. produces the most optimal increase in power in the variation of the 2mm exhaust filter with a result of 16.6hp at 9059 rpm engine speed. As for the optimal torque performance, the standard exhaust produces a maximum torque of 14.43 Nm at 6289 rpm engine speed.Keywords: Exhaust, Power and Torque.

Abstract

Cassava is a tuber plant that can grow in tropical areas with hot and humid climates. In tropical climates cassava is needed for its growth process so that this plant cannot grow at temperatures below 10 c. Cassava is a tuber or tree root that can grow on sandy to clay soil, as well as on low-fertility soil. Cassava length ranges from 15-30 cm with a relatively different diameter as well, which is 2-5 cm. Cassava has a skin consisting of two layers, the first layer is the outer skin while the second layer is the inner skin with white or yellowish flesh. It would be better if the production of cassava cutting increased without ignoring the existing human aspects. Therefore, a machine is needed as a human tool in increasing the productivity of cassava cutting. Significant results or not, can later be observed from the data obtained before and after using the machine. A significant increase after the experiment was carried out means that the cassava cutting machine was able to assist the existing cutting process. Abstract

To reduce production costs , designing a heat exchanger in advance is very effective than buying a ready - made exchanger . This design is in the form of dimensions of a shell and tube type heat exchanger using the polonomial power 4 calculation method and the calculation analysis method using the Exel program. Calculation of the dimensions of this heat exchanger aims to simplify the design and manufacture of heat exchangers. The heat exchanger designed is a shell and tube type heat exchanger which is widely used in Garment or Textile Companies in Pekalongan. The heat generated from the Diesel Exhaust Gas is 250 C - 300 C, where the exhaust gas originating from the Diesel is channeled to the heat exchanger so that the hot air released to the dryer has a temperature of 70C and the capacity of the dryer is 36 kg. /1 hour and Q = 1098 W and a temperature of 70 oC, so that the design of a heat exchanger is needed to circulate the hot air that has been raised in temperature. The exhaust gas that comes from PLTD with a mass flow rate of 2.72 kg/s, the design of a heat exchanger with shell and pipe type, where the flue gas heat flows through the shell and air through the pipe. Abstract

Along with the rapid development of science and technology at this time, it has an impact on the development of the industrial world, especially in the automotive industry. The increasing number of human population in Indonesia demands the development of the provision of transportation facilities, one of the means of transportation that is widely used by the community is motorbikes. Given the ever-increasing need, motorcycle manufacturers are now competing to produce new motorcycles with various advantages, both in terms of design and technological advantages. Motorcycle manufacturers develop motorcycle components in order to achieve efficiency and good quality. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the use of 11 gram, 12 gram and 13 gram roller weight variations on the speed of the 2016 Honda Scoopy FI motorcycle. The test was carried out using a Dynoster tool by changing the roller weight according to the weight to be tested alternately then prepare the. The results of the test show that the roller weight with a weight of 11 grams is the best to use.Keywords: Roller Weight, Power and Torque

Abstract

In the development of the ignition system, the conventional ignition system will be marginalized and may not be used anymore because it is considered ineffective. What was originally using a conventional platinum ignition system on the Kijang kf40 car can be replaced or modified with a CDI electronic ignition system, in which here there are slight changes and additional components. This electronic ignition system for conventional vehicles is called the "CDI / Capacitor Discharge Ignition ignition system".Pertamax applies ecosave technology, which is a technology that is able to clean the inside of the engine, with an octane rating of 92. That way, the engine combustion will be more perfect. This test uses rpm 800, 1000, 1200. This study aims to determine the effect of using platinum ignition and cdi ignition with Pertamax fuel.Based on the results of Pertamax fuel testing for platinum ignition and CDI, the percentage of the largest value in CDI ignition / Capacitor Discharge Ignition 0.7 Milliliter is more efficient compared to platinum ignition at 800 rpm engine speed. While at 1000 RPM, CDI ignition / Discharge Ignition capacitors are 1.2 milliliter more efficient than platinum ignition. At 1,200 RPM, CDI ignition / Capacitor Discharge Ignition is 3.1 milliliter more efficient than Platinum ignition. From several rpms tested, it shows that the higher the RPM, the greater the difference in fuel consumption. Abstract

Motor vehicles used to support human life have a negative effect on air quality. Motor vehicle exhaust contains hazardous substances, including carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC). Therefore, several kinds of additives emerged to reduce vehicle exhaust emissions, these additives include Eco Racing and Salvis Fuel Additive. In this study, the author tries to examine how the effect of the use of the two additives is to reduce CO and HC gas levels in motor vehicles and compare the test results of the two additives. The test was carried out in three stages, namely testing with 100% pure pertalite fuel, pertalite with a mixture of Eco Racing 1 grain and pertalite with a mixture of Salvis Fuel Additive 1 ml with variations in rotation of 1500 rpm, 2000 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3000 rpm, 3500 rpm, 4000 rpm, 4500 rpm and 5000 rpm. The test is carried out 3 times at each engine speed for maximum results.The results of the test show that the mixture of pertalite with Eco Racing 1 grain is the best in reducing CO and HC gas levels, which is 0.63% for CO levels at 3500 rpm and 37 ppm for HC levels at 3500 rpm.Keywords : Exhaust Emissions, Eco Racing, Salvis Fuel Additive
