Abstract

The aim of the research is to form a Markov Chain from switching cellphone brands among UHKBPNP students. This research method uses quantitative methods with a survey research type. The data collection technique used was by collecting questionnaires. The results of research and discussion of cellphone brand switching among students show that the cellphone brand that has the most loyal users is Oppo (40.59%). Meanwhile, the cellphone brand that uses the least loyalty is iPhone (0.4%). The Xiaomi cellphone brand was able to beat Vivo, Realme, Redmi, iPhone and there was quite intense competition between the Redmi and Vivo brands.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the significant effect of the pre-questioning teaching technique on the reading comprehension of Grade Ten students of Smk Swasta Gkpi 1 Pematang Siantar on a narrative text. This research was carried out at SMK Swasta GKPI 1 Pematang Siantar, namely in classes X TKJ A and X TKJ B. The problem statement of this research was the effect of the pre-questioning teaching technique on the reading comprehension of Grade Ten students of SMK Swasta GKPI 1 Pematang Siantar on a narrative text. The researcher used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design and used two classes: the experimental class and the control class. The data was collected using a multiple-choice test. The instrument used to collect data was taken from the results of students' pre-test and post-test scores, where the data was calculated manually using MS Excel. The result of this research showed that the average value of the experimental class was 40 in the pre-test and 80,16 score in the post-test. While the average value of the control class was 39,1 score in the pre-test and 65,5 score in the post-test, The results of the students scores on the post-test showed that the use of the pre-questioning teaching technique was very effective in reading narrative text for grade ten students. The t-test calculation showed that the t-test value was higher than the t-table value (3,32>1.670). The null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. So, it could be concluded that the pre-questioning teaching technique was very significant in developing students reading comprehension, especially in narrative text.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the more significant influence of the Snowball Throwing method on the reading comprehension of narrative text for class X SMA NEGERI 1 SIANTAR students. This research uses an experimental design. The problems in this research are the problems of students who have low reading comprehension abilities, students who are not familiar with the vocabulary in the text, and students who do not understand how to find the main idea in the narrative text they read. This research uses an experimental design, meaning that there is a certain experiment that is applied to a population or sample. And the population of this study were two classes, namely students in classes X-3 and X-4, totaling 60 students. The sample size is 30 students in each class. The control group used a textbook while the experimental group was taught using the snowball throwing method. In this study, data analysis showed that the average post-test score for the experimental group was 76, while the score for the control group was 64.16. The influence of the Snowball Throwing Method is more significant than without using the Snowball Throwing Method on the Reading Comprehension of class X SMA NEGERI 1 SIANTAR students in narrative texts. This is proven by the t test of 3.56 and the t table value of 2.001 and df = 58 (Nx+Ny-2 = 30+30-2 = 58). The t test value is greater than the t table value (t test > t table). Therefore the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.

Abstract

This research was carried out to find whether or not the effect of Jigsaw technique on students’ writing skill in Analytical Exposition Text at eeventh grade of SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar. The research methodoogy used in this research was a quasi-experimental research. There were two classes taken as the samples of this research, class XI IPS 2 as the experimental class and class XI IPS 4 as the contro class. The mean score in experimental class from pre-test to post-test was 51,66 and 72,22. The mean score in contro class from pre-test to post-test was 54,44 and 61,66. The improvement as the experimental class got in post-test was 20,56 and as the contro class got in post-test was 7,22. The sum of standard deviation in experimental class was 2037,50 and in contro class was 3271,88. The data were colected by administering pre-test and post-test. The research findings showed that there was significant effect by using Jigsaw technique on students’ writing skill. It can be seen from the testing hypothesis, it showed that the t-test value (6,51) was higher than the t-table value (1,98) at leve of significance 5% with degree of freedom (df) was 70. This are by the score of post-test in both classes. The average post-test score in experimental class was 72,22 was higher than the average post-test score in contro class which was 51,66. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the writing skill between the students who are taught by using Jigsaw technique on Students’ writing skill in Analytical Exposition Texts and those who are taught without using it.

Abstract

This research aimed to find Out The Effect Of Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (Circ) Technique On Reading Comprehension Of Narrative Text At Grade Eighth Students Of Smp Swasta Gkps 3 Pematang Siantar. This research design is quantitative. The quantitative method is a planned and careful problems solving method. In quantitative, systematically control data collection design, and will focus on constructing inductively concluded theories within the framework of empirically proving hypothesis. The quantitative research imposes objective measuring to collect numeric data that are utilized the answers of questions or test the specified hypothesis. Researcher will choose two groups as the sample, namely class VIII.1 and VIII.2. The two classes that researcher will choose as sample have studied the narrative text based on school education curriculum. By calculating the data, we can conclude that the t-test result (2.42) exceeded the t-table value at a significance level of 0.05 (2.00), meaning 2.42 > 2.00. This indicates that the use of the CIRC technique has a significant impact on students' reading comprehension. This is evident from the list of student scores in reading comprehension when using the CIRC technique compared to the conventional technique. In other words, grade eighth students' capacity at SMP Swasta GKPS 3 Pematang Siantar in reading comprehension is significantly impacted by using of CIRC technique.

Abstract

This objective of this research is to find out the effect of using Running Dictation Game on Simple Present Tense SMA Negeri 2 Pematang Siantar in the academic year 2022/2023. Through the uses of a quasi-experimental design, this research uses a quantitative method. It has two classes, such as experimental class and control class which use in the research. 353 students in grade ten at SMA Negeri 2 Pematang Siantar make up the population of this research. Students from classes X-2 (experimental class) and X-1 (control class), who choose using the purposive sampling technique and make up the sample for this research. There are 10 multiple-choice questions and 10 essay on the research instrument, including a pre- and post-test that the researcher uses to assess the data. The researcher uses the t-test formula to assess the data. The result of this data shows that the mean score of pre-test in experimental class score is 74.5, while the mean post-test score is 92.7. In the control class, the pre-test mean is 63.2, and the post-test mean is 79.4. After calculating the mean score for both groups and using the t-test formula, the results show that the t-test has the highest significance level in the t-table with 5% level significance (1.807> 1,667). So, using running dictation game to improve grade ten has significant effect to the students’.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether there is a significant effect of using the audio-lingual method on the listening comprehension of tenth grade students at Nommensen Private High School, Pematang Siantar Campus. In addition, the aim of this research is to make teachers consider appropriate methods that they can implement in the classroom to teach students about listening comprehension. Therefore, teachers must pay attention to the appropriate methods that can be used to achieve maximum listening comprehension indicators. Another aim of this research is to help students understand listening comprehension material using the Audio Lingual Method and to entertain them with various ways of teaching in the learning process by providing them with music or other educational entertainment to increase their motivation in learning and creating. they are interested in listening to the material to achieve good habits from the learning process in the classroom which is the main goal of the Audio-Lingual Method. This research is quantitative research with the form of an experimental design. This research involves two variables; there is an independent variable, namely the Audio Lingual Method (X) and a dependent variable, namely students' listening comprehension (Y). In this research, the researcher used a purposive sampling technique to select the sample, and decided class X-3 as the Experiment Class and X2 as the Control Class to be the sample for this research where the number of students in the class was 30 students. Researchers also use research instruments which are divided into two instruments, namely instrument blueprints and instrument calibration. Researchers use tests, observation, and documentation as data collection methods. After calculating the average and standard deviation of the two classes, the researcher uses the t-test formula, the results of the t-test must be higher than the t-table with a significance level of 5% (2.265 > 1.680). Based on the research findings, the researcher concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. So, it can be concluded that the use of the audio lingual method influences the listening comprehension of tenth grade students.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out whether crossword puzzle game is an effective media to improve students’ vocabulary mastery of descriptive text, and comparing with the students who were taught by using the conventional media. This study is a quantitative research using quasi-experimental as the method of collecting data. In this study, the data were taken from the pre-test and post-test. The Excel program was used to analyze the validity. The result shows that the mean of pre-test from the experimental group was 55,33, and the control group was 42,33. Then the mean of post-test from the experimental group was 82,5, and the score of the control group was 63,16 Based on the t-test calculation of post-test from both classes shows that the result of the t-value (3,666) was higher than the t-table (2.001). Since the t-test was higher than the t-table, it could be stated that there was a significant difference between the students’ achievement who were taught by using crossword puzzle game and those who were taught by using conventional learning media in improving vocabulary of descriptive text. The students who were taught by using crossword puzzle game have higher achievement. In other words, crossword puzzle game is effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. Based on this result, it is recommended that teachers use crossword puzzle in English classes because this game is very helpful for students in improving their vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

In today’s world, juvenile deliquency is becoming an increasingly troubling social problem. These trends often include acts such as drug use, fighting, promiscuity, and other illegal activities. Teachers play an important role in addresing this problem in the context of islamic education. Knowing students is a very important and interesting issue to discuss because someone whose name is student is part of the younger generation and in the eyes of natioon, state and religion. In this study, researchers use a qualitative descriptive approach, which is a research procedure based on descriptive data in the form of oral or written  words from reseach subjects or informants who have been observed and have the characteristics that the data provided is original data according to situations and conditions that cannot be manipulated and uses systematic and accountable methods. Based on the results of research obtained by reseachers through observation and interviews with informants, there are several forms of juvenile delinquency that occur in SMP Negri 26 Makassar : 1) noisy in class during class hours, 2) this turbing friends who are focused on learning activities, 3) after skipping lessons, 4) smoking. The eforts of religus education teachers in overcoming students delinquency are to pay more attention to children who are especially “naughty” (seeking attention).

Abstract

The Crusades occurred because a number of Christian cities and holy places were occupied by Islam since 632 AD. The Christian military used the cross as a symbol to show that this war was holy and aimed at liberating the holy city of Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem) from Muslims/to show that the war was right. If it is true that it is a holy war, then all Western fleets and troops leaving for the battlefield are obliged to wear the cross attribute, whether worn on the sails of their boats, on their flags, starting from team flags and troop flags, shields, armor and various other equipment. The research method used is a qualitative method with a literature study type of research. Primary data sources use supporting references and secondary data sources use several journals and books. Analysis of the data used uses content analysis. The results of this research found that the crusades were the result of the birth of expansionism in Europe as in the efforts of the Seljuq against the Byzantine Empire. In the expansion movement carried out by Alp Arselan was the Manzikart event, in 464 AH, Alp Arselan's army with a strength of 15,000 soldiers, defeated the army Romans numbering 200,000 people. This event planted the seeds of hostility and hatred among Christians towards Muslims. This hatred increased after the Seljuq Dynasty seized Baitul Maqdis in 471 AH from the power of the Fatimid Dynasty based in Egypt. The Seljuq rulers set regulations for Christians who wanted to make a pilgrimage there. They felt that this regulation was very difficult for them. To obtain the freedom to make a pilgrimage to the holy Christian land, Pope Urban called on Christians in Europe to carry out a holy war.
