Abstract

The rapid growth of TikTok as a popular social media platform has significantly influenced written language practices, particularly in caption writing, which tends to be informal and spontaneous. This study aims to identify, classify, and analyze language errors found in TikTok captions created by Indonesian content creators. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, the data were collected through documentation of publicly accessible TikTok captions and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The findings reveal that language errors predominantly occur in the forms of redundancy, grammatical errors, spelling errors, and semantic inconsistency. These errors are not categorized as intentional code-switching or stylistic language mixing but rather as violations of standard linguistic norms. Theoretically, this study confirms that the informal nature of social media influences written language use and encourages non-standard forms in digital communication contexts.

Abstract

Writing is a crucial yet challenging skill for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. Many Indonesian students experience difficulties in organizing ideas, applying correct tenses, and producing coherent paragraphs, particularly in writing recount texts. This study aimed to examine the effect of Project-Based Learning (PBL) on ninth-grade students’ ability to write recount texts at SMP Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar. The research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest model involving 31 students. A writing test was administered as the instrument, assessing five aspects: content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by comparing mean scores from the pre-test and post-test. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ writing performance, with the mean score increasing from 63.0 to 79.0, representing a 16-point (25.4%) gain. Notable improvement occurred in content and organization, indicating clearer idea development and better text structure. The study concludes that Project-Based Learning effectively enhances students’ engagement, creativity, and writing competence in EFL classrooms.

Abstract

This paper investigates communicative purposes of the use of abbreviations in Discord chats based on the Computer-Mediated Discourse Analysis (CMDA) framework. Over three months, 500 chat messages in five Discord servers of gaming, educational and hobby communities were gathered. The study found four types of abbreviations, including initialisms (42%), phonological reductions (28%), Gen Z slang (22%), and alphanumeric replacements (8%). Results show that abbreviations have four main communicative purposes, namely, structural efficiency, tone modulation pragmatically, interactional continuity, and social identity construction. Abbreviations are multi-purpose resources that can only have sense in a context of negotiation, and at the same time they carry semantic, pragmatic, and social indexicalities. Such immense popularity of Gen Z forms like fr, ngl and no cap suggests that abbreviations have become sociolinguistic signifiers of belonging to a culture and generational identity. This paper has made a contribution to digital linguistics by enlightening on the influence of abbreviations in establishment of connotation and social bond within virtual communities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Perilaku Phubbing Terhadap Interaksi Sosial Pada Remaja Akhir Di Kota Medan. Dari hasil penelitian dan analisa data yang dilakukan pada remaja akhir, maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan sebagai berikut:Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan analisis data terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara Perilaku phubbing terhadap Interaksi sosial pada remaja akhir di kota Medan. Berdasarkan hasil uji Pearson Product Moment antara variabel yang satu dengan variabel kedua diperoleh sebesar r = 0,992. Uji linearitas menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,649 (< 0,05), sehingga model regresi signifikan secara statistik. Berarti hipotesis penelitian Ha diterima.Berdasarkan hasil kategorisasi subjek penelitian, dapat diketahui bahwa sebagian besar remaja akhir di kota Medan berada dalam kategori sedang yaitu interaksi sosial sebanyak 114 orang (56,7%) dan perilaku phubbing sebanyak 108 orang (53,7%).Pada variabel interaksi sosial paling banyak pada kategori sedang dan kategori yang paling tinggi pada aspek komunikasi yaitu sebanyak 201 orang (100%), kategori sedang yaitu pada aspek kontak sosial sebanyak 144 orang (71,6%) dan kategori rendah itu pada aspek relasi yaitu sebanyak 25 orang (12,4%).Pada variabel perilaku phubbing paling banyak pada kategori sedang dan kategori yang paling tinggi pada aspek gangguan komunikasi yaitu sebanyak 41 orang (20,4%) kategori sedang yaitu pada aspek obsesi ponsel sebanyak 143 orang (71,1%) dan kategori rendah itu pada aspek obsesi ponsel yaitu sebanyak 29 orang (14,4%)

Abstract

This study evaluates the effect of meditation on the academic performance of Grade XI students at SMAN 1 Tanjung Lombok Utara who were experiencing concentration decline due to academic stress. Using a quantitative quasi-experimental design, two classes were purposively selected: an experimental class (n = 32) received a 10-minute daily meditation session before lessons for six weeks, while a control class (n = 32) followed regular instruction. Academic performance was measured by mid-term exam scores, whereas concentration and stress were assessed with a concentration scale and the DASS-21 before and after the intervention. Mixed-ANOVA revealed that the mean score gain in the experimental class (Δ = 8.7 points) was significantly higher than in the control class (Δ = 2.1 points), F(1,62) = 42.3, p < 0.001, η² = 0.41. Stress scores dropped by 23 % and concentration index rose by 18 % in the experimental class; no significant changes occurred in the control class. It is concluded that brief school-based meditation effectively improves academic achievement, reduces stress, and enhances students’ focus. The intervention can serve as a low-cost strategy to support mental-academic balance in senior high schools

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang Meditasi-Analisi praktek terhadap Mikrohioma Usus dan Kesehatan Mental. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak dari praktik Meditasi Metta (Cinta Kasih) terhadap komposisi mikrobioma usus dan dampaknya pada kesehatan mental, khususnya gejala kecemasan dan depresi. Meditasi Metta, yang merupakan bentuk meditasi loving-kindness, dikenal efektif dalam meningkatkan emosi positif dan mengurangi psikopatologi. Desain penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimental dengan pendekatan pra-pasca intervensi. Sebanyak 8 partisipan dengan tingkat kecemasan ringan hingga sedang dibagi menjadi kelompok intervensi Meditasi Metta dan kelompok kontrol. Kelompok intervensi menjalani program Meditasi Metta selama delapan minggu. Pengukuran dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi meliputi: 1) Analisis komposisi mikrobioma usus melalui sekuensing 16S rRNA pada sampel feses; dan 2) Pengukuran kesehatan mental menggunakan kuesioner standar (misalnya DASS-21). Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada genus bakteri yang dikaitkan dengan efek anti-inflamasi dan produksi asam lemak rantai pendek (misalnya, peningkatan Faecalibacterium dan Megamonas) pada kelompok intervensi, serta penurunan signifikan pada skor kecemasan dan depresi. Korelasi positif ditemukan antara perubahan komposisi mikrobiota dan perbaikan gejala mental. Ada beberapa keuntungan atau manfaat yang dapat di peroleh dari berlatih meditassi setiap hari, diantaranya dapat mengatsi Stres, Depresi dan rasa cemas, Membantu dalam mengontrol Emosi, Menjaga Kesehatan jantung, Meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh, dan Mengurangi rasa sakit. Temuan ini mencerminkan efek positif yang dapat diandalkan dari meditasi dalam mengatasi tantangan psikologis yang umum di masyarakat. Dalam konteks implikasi klinis, meta-analisis memberikan dasar yang kuat untuk mempertimbangkan meditasi sebagai komponen yang berharga dalam intervensi terapi mental

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh pengetahuan mengenai pengaruh lingkungan belajar dan kreativitas belajar terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Kewirausahaan kelas XI di SMK Swasta HKBP Pematangsiantar. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan analisis data deskriptif kuantitattif. Populasi penelitian yaitu seluruh siswa kelas XI SMK Swasta Pematangsiantar. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 63 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah teknik simple random sampling. Teknik pengambilan data yang digunakan adalah kuisioner (angket) Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa: 1) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara lingkungan belajar terhadap hasil belajar, hasil ini terlihat pada uji t dimana nilai thitung dari disiplin siswa sebesar thitung > ttabel (3,908 > 1.671). Dengan demikian terdapat pengaruh Positif dan signifikan antara lingkungan belajar terhadap hasil belajar siswa. 2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara kreativitas belajar terhadap hasil belajar, hasil ini terlihat pada uji t dimana nilai thitung > ttabel (2.360 > 1.671). Terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara kreativitas belajar terhadap hasil belajar siswa. 3) Lingkungan belajar dan kreativitas belajar secara bersama-sama mempengaruhi hasil belajar siswa, hasil ini dapat dilihat pada uji f dimana nilai Fhirtung ( 12,374) > nilai Ftabel (3,15). Uji koefisien determinasi R square diketahui sebesar 0,292 yang berarti 29,2% variabel lingkungan belajar dan kreativitas belajar pada mata pelajaran Kewirausahaan SMK Swasta HKBP Pematangsiantar. Sedangkan 70,8% merupakan pengaruh dari variabel lain yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada materi bentuk aljabar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Swasta Teladan Pematangsiantar tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Sampel penelitian dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling, yaitu kelas VIII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII B sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis berbentuk uraian. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, N-Gain, dan ANOVA satu arah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Nilai N-Gain kelas kontrol mencapai 0,29 (kategori rendah) dan kelas eksperimen 0,559 (kategori sedang ). Hasil uji ANOVA satu arah menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelas dengan nilai sig. (2-tailed) < 0,05. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran RME efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada materi bentuk aljabar.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Arabic Debate Competitions in the Language Festival as a strategy for Arabic curriculum development at PMDG Putri Campus 1. The research employed a qualitative case study design to explore how debate activities contributed to communicative language learning, curriculum enrichment, and the strengthening of institutional language culture. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving language supervisors, debate coaches, organizing committee members, and participating students. The findings reveal that the Arabic Debate Competition functioned as an experiential and performance-based learning activity that integrated speaking, listening, vocabulary mastery, critical thinking, and argumentative reasoning within authentic communication contexts. The competition also strengthened students’ confidence, public speaking ability, teamwork, and active Arabic language use beyond classroom settings. Furthermore, the program contributed significantly to reinforcing bi’ah lughawiyyah and supporting competency-based curriculum implementation in pesantren education. This study concludes that Arabic debate activities can serve as an effective curriculum development strategy by connecting formal language instruction with interactive linguistic practices and character education. The findings contribute to the discourse on Arabic curriculum innovation in Islamic boarding school education and provide practical implications for integrating communicative extracurricular programs into Arabic language learning systems.

Abstract

An online newspaper is a digital version of a traditional print newspaper, accessible through the internet. It offers news, features, editorials, and various articles covering current events, politics, sports, entertainment, and other topics. Online newspaper, especially daily newspaper, has a big contribution to the people. People can get information about local or international events every day because the news and information are up-to-date and accurate. This research aims to find out the use and the classification of auxiliary verbs and action verbs found in educational news article of BBC.com in 2024 and students perspective in auxiliary verbs and action verbs found in educational news article of BBC.com in 2024. The researcher will use the descriptive design, a research design that aims to describe and interpret things in line with reality. The data in this research will be analyzed in the form of word description and identification or analysis of the types of auxiliary verbs and action verbs in educational news article of BBC.com in October 2024. Twenty questionnaires will be given to all the students and ten questions to ten students in interview section to answer the students perspective in auxiliary verbs and action verbs found in educational news article of BBC.com on 2024. Also, the researchers suggest for teacher to use online media such as online newspaper in the learning process and for students always to increase their motivation to read the online newspaper to learn English grammar especially auxiliary verb and action verbs. This research will be published in Sinta 4 journal.
