Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited scholarly attention given to the strategies employed by tahfidz teachers within mosque-based halaqoh, despite the significant impact of such practices on the quality of students’ Qur’anic memorization, particularly in non-formal educational settings like mosques. Amid the rising number of Qur’an memorizers in Indonesia, many students continue to struggle with retaining their memorization and correcting makhraj. The objective of this research is to analyze the strategies used by tahfidz teachers to enhance students’ Qur’anic memorization at the Halaqoh Tahfidz Qur’an of Al-Ikhlas Mosque, Koto Mandakek, Pariaman City. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, involving participants that include the halaqoh leader, one tahfidz teacher, and four students selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques comprise observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the tahfidz teacher implements strategies such as identifying students’ characteristics, formulating learning objectives, applying the talaqqi-sima’i method, tikrar, group murojaah, and conducting participatory and continuous memorization assessments. These strategies have proven effective in gradually and comprehensively improving students’ memorization. This success is influenced by the teacher’s active engagement and adaptive approach tailored to each student’s individual needs. The findings imply that appropriate instructional strategies can strengthen tahfidz programs in non-formal education settings and foster the development of a generation of excellent Qur’an memorizers.

Abstract

This study is motivated by low student engagement in the learning process and high levels of boredom resulting from the use of unengaging instructional media. The aim of this research is to examine the effectiveness of using the Kahoot application as a learning medium in Islamic Religious Education classes for Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Padang Panjang. A quantitative approach was employed using an experimental method with a pre-experimental design. Data collection techniques included pretest and posttest assessments, as well as questionnaires administered to 22 students selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that the use of Kahoot has a positive impact on learning effectiveness. Hypothesis testing using the Product Moment Correlation Coefficient yielded an r value of 0.633, which exceeds the critical value of 0.444. Additionally, the t value of 4.01 surpasses the critical t value of 2.10 at a specified level of significance, indicating that the alternative hypothesis is accepted while the null hypothesis is rejected. These findings demonstrate that Kahoot is effective in enhancing students’ active participation and fostering a more interactive and enjoyable learning environment. The study concludes that Kahoot-based instructional media is appropriate for use in Islamic Religious Education classes to reduce boredom and actively increase student engagement.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the management of wirid remaja programs as a method for developing Islamic character, despite their significant influence in character formation among students, particularly at SMAN 1 Patamuan, West Sumatra. The objective of this research is to analyze the management of the wirid remaja program in shaping students’ Islamic character. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with purposive sampling involving the school principal, program coordinator, supervising teachers, and student participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that the program is managed effectively through systematic stages of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling, which support the internalization of Islamic values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, and mutual respect. Student participation was found to be high, though some challenges were addressed through innovative teaching methods and motivational strategies. These findings align with educational management theory and intrinsic motivation, emphasizing the importance of religious programs in character development. The study concludes that wirid remaja is an effective strategy for fostering Islamic character, with both theoretical and practical implications for the development of character education policy and opportunities for further research in broader contexts. Abstract

The implementation of informal religious education such as the Taman Pendidikan al-Qur’an (TPA) for early childhood in Gang Bendi, Bukittinggi City, reflects a concerning condition, where religious educational activities have ceased due to the absence of child participation. This is especially troubling given the vital role of TPA in shaping children's character and morals from an early age. This study aims to describe the community’s socio-religious conditions, explore public perceptions of the urgency of Islamic Religious Education for young children, and analyze the opportunities and challenges in its implementation. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, using purposive sampling to select ten informants relevant to the study’s focus. The findings indicate that the low participation of early childhood children in TPA is influenced by weak socio-religious conditions and a limited perception of the importance of religious education. Key challenges identified include inadequate facilities and infrastructure. The study concludes that raising community awareness and encouraging active involvement in voicing educational needs to the government are critical factors in revitalizing effective Islamic education in Gang Bendi. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening collaboration between the community and government in supporting early childhood religious education.

Abstract

Moral education plays a strategic role in shaping students' character; however, SMA Negeri 6 Pariaman still faces moral crises such as bullying and a lack of empathy among students. This phenomenon reflects an educational orientation that prioritizes cognitive and physical aspects, while character development receives less proportional attention. This study aims to examine the planning, implementation, and evaluation of moral education at SMA Negeri 6 Pariaman, as well as to identify its supporting and inhibiting factors. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through participatory observation, structured interviews with the principal, vice principal, guidance and counseling teachers, and Islamic Education (PAI) teachers, as well as document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validation ensured through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The findings show that moral education planning is carried out through integration into PAI subjects, extracurricular activities (such as tahfidz), and special programs such as Pesantren Ramadhan, religious seminars, and wirid remaja. Its implementation includes classroom instruction, habituation of positive behavior (6S, cleanliness, discipline), teacher role modeling, and reinforcement through special programs. Evaluation is conducted through daily, mid-semester, and end-of-semester assessments, as well as evaluations of extracurricular activities, all of which show positive contributions to students’ moral development. These findings indicate that the implementation of moral education at SMA Negeri 6 Pariaman is carried out comprehensively through structured and continuous approaches. The study highlights the importance of strengthening student character development strategies and enhancing collaboration among schools, teachers, students, and parents in nurturing morally upright individuals.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the weak application of religious values in students’ daily lives, as reflected in a lack of respect for parents, teachers, and peers, as well as low environmental awareness. One effort to foster moral development is through the wirid remaja program. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of wirid remaja implementation on the akhlakul karimah (noble character) of students at SMAN 2 Sungai Limau. Wirid remaja is a bi-monthly activity that includes congregational zuhr prayer, dhikr, istighasah, supplication, and thematic sermons tailored to moral development needs. A quantitative method with a correlational design and simple linear regression analysis was used. The sample consisted of 82 Grade X and XI students selected through simple random sampling from a total population of 416. Research instruments included questionnaires measuring wirid remaja (X) and akhlakul karimah (Y), with data analysis covering normality, linearity, and hypothesis testing using SPSS version 20. The findings show a significant influence of wirid remaja on students’ moral character, with a calculated t-value (0.0329) exceeding the critical t-value (0.03008), and a significance level of 0.003 < 0.005. Although the correlation is relatively low (r = 0.329), the wirid remaja program has been proven to contribute to character formation. These results highlight the importance of sustained involvement from Islamic Education and Character Education teachers in supervising and developing wirid remaja as a strategic component of character education.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a critical student capability that supports the learning process by enabling individuals to recognize, understand, and manage their emotions effectively. This study aims to examine the influence of emotional intelligence on students’ learning independence in Social Studies (IPS) among Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 6 Kota Solok. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed. The population consisted of all Grade VIII students in the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 122 individuals, with a sample of 94 students selected using proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on learning independence, as evidenced by a calculated t-value of 8.141, which exceeds the critical t-value of 1.661 at a 0.05 significance level. Emotional intelligence accounts for 41.9% of the variance in learning independence. These findings suggest that higher levels of emotional intelligence are associated with greater learning independence among students. Therefore, fostering emotional intelligence should be an integral component of educational strategies aimed at enhancing students’ academic autonomy.

Abstract

The increasing number of private vehicles and the limited availability of public transportation in Padang City have prompted the government to introduce a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system through the operation of Trans Padang, including Corridor III, which was officially launched in April 2024. This study aims to analyze the positive and negative externalities of Trans Padang Corridor III as a public transportation system. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through field observations, semi-structured interviews with 17 informants, including representatives from the Department of Transportation, service users, angkot drivers, and the general public as well as document analysis. Data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification, with data validity ensured through source triangulation. The findings indicate that negative externalities include traffic disruptions caused by bus operations on narrow roads such as Jalan Maransi, accident risks, and decreased income for city transport (angkot) drivers due to unequal competition. On the positive side, externalities include increased public access to essential facilities, reduced household transportation expenditures, and the stimulation of microeconomic activity around Trans Padang bus stops. The study concludes that participatory public transport policies based on actual infrastructure conditions are necessary to minimize negative impacts and optimize the socio-economic benefits of the BRT system. Recommendations include regular route evaluations, involving informal transport operators in planning, and improving road infrastructure to support a more inclusive and adaptive BRT operation.

Abstract

Work role performance is a critical aspect in addressing the complexities of modern organizational dynamics. This study aims to analyze the influence of servant leadership on work role performance and to examine the mediating role of knowledge sharing in this relationship among employees at PT. Bank Nagari, Main Branch, West Sumatra. Initial observations revealed issues such as low initiative, adaptability, and self-confidence among employees, indicating weak work role performance. The study employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. Data were collected via questionnaires distributed to 133 permanent employees, selected through cluster proportional random sampling from a total population of 198. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method via SmartPLS software. The results show that (1) servant leadership has a positive and significant effect on work role performance; (2) servant leadership positively and significantly influences knowledge sharing; (3) knowledge sharing has a positive and significant impact on work role performance; and (4) knowledge sharing significantly mediates the relationship between servant leadership and work role performance. The study concludes that servant leadership enhances employee performance both directly and indirectly by fostering a culture of knowledge sharing. The practical implication is that organizations should promote participatory leadership styles and establish systematic knowledge-sharing systems to develop proactive, adaptive, and competent employees.

Abstract

The digital transformation of dynamic archive management presents a significant challenge for government institutions, particularly at the sub-district level. However, the implementation of digital systems such as the Integrated Dynamic Archival Information System Application (Srikandi) still exhibits gaps that have yet to be extensively explored empirically. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Srikandi application in managing dynamic archives at the Basa Ampek Balai Tapan Sub-District Office. A descriptive quantitative approach was used, with a sample of seven active staff members selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The questionnaire consisted of 22 items based on two key indicators from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM): perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Validity was tested using the Pearson Product Moment, and instrument reliability reached a Cronbach’s Alpha score of 0.987. Data analysis included tabulation, percentage calculations, and score categorization. The results show that the implementation of the Srikandi application falls into the “very good” category, with perceived usefulness scoring 81.69% and perceived ease of use at 79.16%. The application has been proven to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility in managing dynamic archives. The study concludes that the Srikandi application has been successfully implemented at the sub-district level and supports the validity of the TAM model in the context of local government archival management.
