Abstract

This study is motivated by the critical importance of implementing Pillar 1 of the Safe School Program (Satuan Pendidikan Aman Bencana or SPAB), which focuses on disaster-resilient school facilities as the foundation for protecting school communities—especially in disaster-prone areas such as Koto Tangah District, Padang City. Although the SPAB program has been implemented, several challenges persist, particularly concerning physical infrastructure, such as the lack of adequate evacuation routes and school buildings that do not meet earthquake-resistant standards. This study aims to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the Disaster-Resilient Facility Pillar at the elementary and junior high school levels in the region. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that supporting factors include school commitment, basic disaster mitigation awareness, and technical assistance from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). Conversely, inhibiting factors consist of limited budget allocation, infrastructure that does not meet safety standards, and the absence of structured technical guidelines. The study concludes that strengthening policy frameworks and fostering cross-stakeholder collaboration are essential for the development of disaster-resilient school infrastructure. The implications contribute to disaster-related literature in the education sector and serve as a reference for enhancing the effectiveness of SPAB implementation in disaster-prone regions.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the declining moral values among the younger generation, influenced by technology and globalization, as reflected in weakened attitudes of politeness, honesty, responsibility, and tolerance. In this context, Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT), as a traditional martial arts organization, plays a strategic role in instilling noble values and fostering youth character development. The research aims to identify the moral values taught and analyze the internalization process within PSHT’s martial arts training in East Lombok Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Research subjects were selected purposively and included branch and sub-branch leaders, trainers, and PSHT members from the Sikur, Terara, and Montong Gading areas. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, interpretation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that the internalized values include honesty, responsibility, politeness, empathy, tolerance, maturity, and wisdom. The internalization process is carried out systematically through physical training integrated with mental and spiritual development, shaping members who are resilient both physically and morally. The study concludes that PSHT has successfully instilled noble values through structured and consistent character education. The implication is that PSHT can serve as a model for youth character development, offering a viable solution to the moral crisis of the modern era.

Abstract

History learning media at SMAN 5 Pariaman remains dominated by conventional tools that are less effective in fostering students’ historical empathy. In contrast, innovative media such as documentary videos have the potential to help students internalize and emotionally connect with the suffering experienced by Indonesians during the Japanese occupation (1942–1945). This study aims to assess the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of a documentary video titled PJES (Penjajahan Jepang Membangun Empati Sejarah), developed to cultivate historical empathy among high school students. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 36 participants, including content validators, media validators, a history teacher, and students. Data were collected through feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness tests using Likert-scale validation sheets and analyzed using mean score formulas. The results showed that: (1) the documentary content was rated highly feasible, with an average content validator score of 3.6; (2) media quality was also rated highly feasible, with a mean score of 3.6 from media validators; (3) the level of practicality was rated very practical, with teacher and student scores of 3.8 and 3.5 respectively; (4) media effectiveness was rated very effective, with mean scores of 3.7 (teacher) and 3.5 (students). The study concludes that the PJES documentary video is feasible, practical, and effective for use in history education to foster historical empathy regarding the Japanese occupation. The findings imply that the development of similar media can serve as a meaningful and emotionally engaging alternative in history learning.

Abstract

The teaching of Al-Qur’an Hadith in Grade X at MA Al-Bairuny Sambong Dukuh Jombang remains dominated by lecture methods and a single learning medium—namely, the textbook—which has led to low student engagement and motivation. This study aims to develop the AWA (Al-Qur’an Wahyu Allah) media based on iSpring Suite and analyze student responses regarding its effectiveness. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) following the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection instruments included validation questionnaires from media experts and subject matter experts, as well as student response questionnaires. Validation by media experts resulted in an average score of 89% (valid category) in the first stage and 68% (moderately valid) in the second. Subject matter expert validation yielded scores of 93% and 90%, both categorized as highly valid. Meanwhile, the student response to the AWA media showed a score of 90%, categorized as highly practical. These findings indicate that the iSpring Suite-based AWA media is both feasible and practical for use in Al-Qur’an Hadith learning, particularly in enhancing interactivity and student comprehension of conceptual and sequential material. The study’s implications highlight the importance of utilizing interactive media as an innovative solution to foster more effective and enjoyable learning experiences.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the suboptimal utilization of culinary areas following the relocation of street vendors (PKL), limited public facilities, and weak enforcement of existing policies. The aim of this research is to analyze the governance of the Pantai Padang Culinary Center by the Padang City Tourism Office in supporting the availability of proper public facilities for both residents and visitors. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving nine informants representing government officials, vendors, and visitors. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that while the area’s governance has shown adequate planning supported by regulations and the provision of basic facilities, the organizational process remains suboptimal, and supervision is limited to administrative procedures without a continuous monitoring system. Supporting factors include government policy, initial facility provision, and entrepreneurship training. However, challenges persist, such as vendor resistance, limited supporting infrastructure, and weak field supervision. The study concludes that the governance of the Pantai Padang Culinary Center is not yet fully effective and requires strengthening in implementation and oversight. These findings are expected to serve as a foundation for formulating participatory, adaptive, and sustainable policies for culinary area management. Abstract

The high number of uninhabitable houses (Rumah Tidak Layak Huni, RTLH) in Solok City, despite the implementation of the RTLH improvement program since 2017. The research aims to evaluate the implementation of the RTLH Program by the Solok City Housing and Settlement Area Office and to identify the inhibiting factors affecting its execution. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was used, with data collected through interviews, documentation, and observation. Data validation was carried out using triangulation techniques. The findings show that the RTLH program has had a positive impact on improving the quality of housing and the well-being of its beneficiaries. However, the implementation still faces several obstacles, including low levels of community self-help participation, delays in the distribution of building materials, and administrative barriers, particularly regarding proof of land ownership. The study concludes that although the RTLH program is relatively effective and efficient, improvements in supervision, data management systems, and more targeted outreach strategies are necessary to maximize the program’s long-term benefits for low-income communities.

Abstract

The implementation of the Regional Government Transaction Electronification (ETPD) policy represents a strategic step in supporting digital financial transformation within government institutions. However, its execution still faces various technical and institutional challenges. This study aims to describe the implementation of the ETPD policy in the Padang City Government and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing the process. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis refers to Edward III’s policy implementation theory, which includes four key variables: communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The findings indicate that the ETPD implementation in Padang City has progressed fairly well, as evidenced by the establishment of the Regional Digitalization Acceleration and Expansion Task Force (TP2DD), enhanced digital infrastructure, and training and outreach initiatives supported by Bank Indonesia and related institutions. Nonetheless, several obstacles persist, such as the lack of comprehensive leadership commitment, weak inter-agency coordination, limited technical regulations, low public digital literacy, and uneven dissemination efforts. The study concludes that optimizing ETPD implementation in Padang City requires strengthening human resource capacity, developing technical standard operating procedures, and enhancing cross-sector collaboration to realize a transparent, effective, and accountable digital financial system.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the transformative application of gamified platforms such as Quizizz as active learning media in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). To date, Quizizz has primarily been used as an assessment tool rather than as a medium for delivering content in a structured and progressive manner. The objective of this research is to develop a transformative model for using Quizizz as an informative, interactive, and meaningful instructional medium within the context of Islamic values. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), though it was limited to the design stage. The development results show that two instructional models sequential delivery and holistic delivery were successfully designed based on the ADDIE instructional design framework and an analysis of digital-native learners’ needs. The developed media were validated by content and media experts and deemed “feasible with revisions.” The study concludes that Quizizz can be transformed into a relevant and engaging learning medium for PAI by integrating visual, interactive, and Islamic value components. The implications of this research include contributions to the literature on gamification-based digital learning in PAI and the provision of alternative interactive media aligned with the characteristics of Generation Alpha.

Abstract

This media development is motivated by students’ low comprehension of leaf morphology material and the limitations of conventional learning media, such as physical herbaria that require special care, large storage space, and limited accessibility. The aim of this study is to develop a digital learning medium in the form of a leaf morphology herbarium of dicotyledonous plants, utilizing Instagram as a visual, engaging, and flexible platform suitable for student use. The herbarium was developed using leaf specimens collected from the campus environment of Universitas KH. A. Wahab Hasbullah (UNWAHA). The research adopted the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), although the process was limited to the Develop stage due to time constraints. Validation was carried out by media and content experts, yielding feasibility scores of 86% and 89% respectively, both categorized as “highly feasible.” The study concludes that the Instagram-based digital herbarium is a feasible alternative learning medium that is effective, innovative, and aligned with the characteristics of learners in the digital era. The implications of this development include strengthening visual literacy, enhancing access to technology-based learning, and expanding the use of digital platforms in science education.

Abstract

The phenomenon of learning difficulties in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) subjects remains under-researched, despite its significant impact on students’ academic achievement. This study aims to identify the types of learning difficulties encountered, analyze their causal factors, and examine the IRE learning process in Grade XI Phase F at SMAN 3 Lubuk Basung. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving 28 purposively selected students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that students primarily struggle with memorizing ayat and understanding content that requires critical thinking skills. Contributing factors include low learning motivation, lack of parental support, and limited learning facilities. These findings reinforce the relevance of constructivist theory, which emphasizes the need to align teaching methods with students’ characteristics. The study concludes that adaptive learning strategies and a supportive learning environment are essential. Its implications contribute to theoretical discourse and offer practical recommendations for schools and educators to enhance the quality of IRE instruction, while also paving the way for future research on technology-based interventions or targeted support programs for students experiencing learning difficulties.
