Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the effectiveness of the Qur’anic Literacy Program (Baca Tulis Al-Qur’an or BTQ) in private madrasahs, despite the continued prevalence of Qur’anic illiteracy among students, particularly at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level. The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of the BTQ program in eradicating Qur’anic illiteracy among seventh-grade students at MTsS TI Batang Kabung in Padang City. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used, and participants were selected through purposive sampling, including the principal, BTQ instructors, and students from the BTQ group. Data collection techniques included observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, which were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the BTQ program is categorized into three groups based on student ability: beginner (Iqro’ volumes 1–3), intermediate (Iqro’ volumes 4–6), and advanced (using the talaqqi method). Activities are conducted routinely every Monday from 14.00 to 15.00 WIB. The program has proven effective in improving students’ abilities in reading, writing, and memorizing the Qur’an, while also fostering religious enthusiasm. The conclusion of this study is that a stepwise approach in the BTQ program can significantly enhance Qur’anic literacy. The implication of this research is the need for developing a skill-based BTQ learning model that can be replicated in other Islamic educational institutions as a systematic strategy to eradicate Qur’anic illiteracy.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMP Negeri 2 Peterongan Jombang faces challenges due to low student engagement and cognitive ability, which stem from monotonous and unengaging teaching methods. This study aims to describe the application of puzzle media in PAI learning and to evaluate its impact on improving students' cognitive abilities. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation for validation. The findings show that the use of puzzle media creates an interactive, enjoyable, and collaborative learning environment. Students became more active and motivated, showing improved understanding and memory of the material. Cognitive improvement was indicated by successful puzzle completion, enthusiasm during quizzes, and better learning outcomes. The media was found to be easy to make, cost-effective, and effective in enhancing concentration and group cooperation, although it posed limitations such as preparation time, potential errors in arrangement, and uneven participation. These findings suggest that puzzle media is an effective learning strategy to enhance students' cognitive abilities in PAI classes. The implication is that teachers can utilize this media as an innovative alternative to create a more meaningful and engaging learning process.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low creative capacity of students in delivering religious messages in an engaging and original manner, thus necessitating an analysis of their work, particularly poster projects developed through the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. The study aims to analyze the novelty aspects of five educational posters created by eleventh-grade students at SMAN 2 Lubuk Sikaping during Islamic Religious Education learning. Using a qualitative approach and content analysis method, five posters themed “Avoiding Student Fights, Alcohol, and Drugs” were examined based on new ideas, visual symbols, and message approaches that are both informative and creative. The results indicate that although the selected themes are relatively common, students were able to present new perspectives through metaphorical visualizations, religious approaches, and meaningful contextual slogans. Novelty is evident in the students' ability to connect Islamic values with the realities of youth life, such as symbolizing impaired reasoning with an image of a grenade or highlighting the prohibition of praying while intoxicated based on Qur’anic verses. The emphasis on novelty in these works reflects students’ critical and creative thinking skills in conveying religious messages through visual media and indicates the potential of the PjBL model in fostering religious expression that is both relevant and appealing to young audiences.

Abstract

Learning Al-Qur’an Hadith in madrasahs still faces challenges related to low student interest and understanding, largely due to the use of conventional instructional media that are unengaging and misaligned with the characteristics of digital-era learners. This study aims to develop an interactive e-book based on Heyzine Flipbook for the eighth-grade Al-Qur’an Hadith subject at MTsN 4 Nganjuk. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Instruments included validation questionnaires by content and media experts, as well as pretest and posttest assessments with 30 students to measure product effectiveness. Validation results indicated that the e-book is highly feasible for use, with feasibility scores of 86.65% from content experts and 85.8% from media experts. Effectiveness testing showed an average N-Gain score of 65.74%, categorized as moderate. The e-book includes interactive features such as digital navigation, practice questions, and supporting visual media that enhance students’ understanding of the material. The study concludes that the interactive e-book based on Heyzine Flipbook is feasible and effective as a learning medium. Its implications include providing teachers with an innovative instructional alternative and encouraging madrasahs to support the development of digital teaching media as part of 21st-century learning transformation.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on game-based learning media, despite its significant impact on student engagement and motivation, particularly in social studies (IPS) education. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of the educational game Monosean Go in enhancing the learning motivation of sixth-grade students in IPS. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted over two cycles with a sample of 20 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation sheets, motivation questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively using percentage techniques. The results show an increase in student learning motivation from 59% (low category) in the initial condition to 67% (moderate category) in Cycle I, and reaching 86% (very high category) in Cycle II. These findings support learning motivation theories that emphasize the importance of interactive, student-centered learning. The study concludes that the Monosean Go game is effective in enhancing student learning motivation. Its implications include contributing to the literature on game-based learning and offering practical recommendations for teachers to integrate contextual learning media to create more engaging and meaningful learning experiences. The study also opens opportunities for further research on the long-term impact and adaptation of similar games in different subjects and educational levels.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students in the Mathematics subject in Class II-C at UPT SD Negeri 060913 Medan are caused by the lack of engaging instructional media that align with the characteristics of early-age learners. This study aims to improve student learning outcomes on the topic of time measurement through the implementation of Labirin Waktu media, an educational game-based tool designed to train logic, concentration, and arithmetic skills through time-themed maze challenges. This research is a Classroom Action Research (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, PTK) conducted in two cycles involving 19 students, with stages including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection in each cycle. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities as well as learning outcome tests. The results show an increase in student learning mastery from 57.89% in the pre-cycle to 68.42% in Cycle I, and a significant rise to 89.47% in Cycle II. Additionally, teacher and student activities during the learning process also improved, reflecting active involvement and learning enthusiasm. These findings indicate that Labirin Waktu media is effective in enhancing learning outcomes and student engagement in Mathematics learning. The implication is that this medium can serve as an innovative alternative to create a more meaningful and enjoyable learning process for elementary school students.

Abstract

The low learning motivation of eighth-grade students at MTs Al-Husna Probolinggo, caused by the use of conventional teaching methods and the high activity load in the pesantren (Islamic boarding school) environment, serves as the background for this study. Within the framework of implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka (Merdeka Curriculum), which emphasizes flexibility and responsiveness to student needs, differentiated instruction is considered a relevant strategy to address this issue. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of differentiated instruction in improving student motivation by adjusting the learning process based on individual interests, readiness, and learning profiles. Using a quantitative approach with an experimental design, a total of 24 students were selected as the sample through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a learning motivation questionnaire administered before and after the intervention and analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The analysis results show an increase in the average score from 90.21 to 124.25 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference before and after the implementation of the strategy. These findings suggest that differentiated instruction is effective in increasing student motivation and creating a more active and enjoyable learning environment. The implication is that this strategy can serve as a practical solution for teachers to enhance student motivation in religious-based educational institutions and contribute to the academic discourse on the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

This study is motivated by issues in conventional learning, which remains input-based and is often considered less objective in evaluating student learning outcomes. The Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach is viewed as a relevant alternative to replace traditional assessment models, particularly through the use of structured and measurable rubrics. This research employs a qualitative approach with a library research design and content analysis technique to examine related literature. The findings indicate that OBE enhances educational quality by emphasizing concrete learning outcomes that align with contemporary needs and promote more flexible, active, and innovative learning. This approach can be implemented across all levels of education, including primary education, with rubrics serving as objective evaluation tools. The study affirms that rubrics within the OBE framework are highly applicable to the Akidah Akhlak subject in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, as they enable more structured and fair assessment of students’ affective domains. The implication is that implementing OBE from early education opens opportunities for learning evaluation that balances both process and outcome orientation. Furthermore, the study recommends further research to explore practical implementation and the contextual assessment of student character using more applicable instruments.

Abstract

Happiness is a vital aspect of adolescent life, particularly for junior high school students who are undergoing a transitional phase in psychological and social development. In Indonesian society, where the majority of the population is Muslim, daily religious practices serve not only as spiritual activities but also as integral components of a lifestyle that influences emotional well-being. This study aims to identify the effect of daily worship frequency on the happiness levels of Muslim students at SMP Al-Khairiyah, North Jakarta. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 60 students selected through proportional stratified sampling. Data were collected using indicators of daily worship frequency and The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ), and analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that the frequency of daily worship contributes significantly to the happiness of Muslim students, accounting for 17.1% of the variance. These findings affirm that daily religious practice plays an important role in supporting the psychological well-being of Muslim adolescents. The implication is that schools should encourage and integrate worship habits within the educational environment as a strategy to enhance students’happiness and emotional balance.

Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution presents significant challenges to the workforce, as many conventional jobs are being replaced by automation and digitalization, necessitating adjustments in vocational training systems. This study aims to examine the stages of vocational training curriculum development in electrical engineering at the Center for Vocational Training and Productivity Development (Balai Besar Pelatihan Vokasi dan Produktivitas/BBPVP) Serang in response to the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with the Sub-Coordinator of Competency Development at Intala and electrical engineering instructors, as well as through document analysis. The findings reveal that curriculum development begins with identifying training needs through a Training Need Analysis (TNA), which is then formulated into training programs. The study also identifies several challenges in curriculum implementation, including limited instructor competencies in keeping pace with technological advancements and the mismatch between available training equipment and current industry requirements. These findings underscore the importance of strategies to enhance instructor capacity and strengthen collaboration between training institutions and industry to produce vocational curricula that are both adaptive and technologically relevant.
