Abstract

Copper(II) oxide (CuO) has been recognized as a promising semiconductor material for various applications, such as photocatalysis, sensors, and renewable energy devices. However, its efficiency is often limited by a suboptimal bandgap value. This study aims to analyze the effect of cerium doping on the properties of CuO nanoparticles synthesized through the sol-gel process. The sol-gel method ensures a homogeneous doping distribution and produces nanoparticles with a stable structure. The bandgap energy of CuO nanoparticles was determined through characterization using UV-DRS. Cerium was introduced as a dopant in CuO at a concentration of 0.4 mmol, resulting in a bandgap value of 1.26 eV, whereas undoped CuO exhibited a bandgap of 1.35 eV. The analysis indicates that the Ce doping concentration significantly affects the bandgap of CuO nanoparticles, with a reduction observed at 0.4 mmol compared to undoped CuO. This decrease is attributed to symmetry disruption caused by doping, including oxygen vacancies, structural defects, and the presence of impurities that create additional energy levels within the bandgap. Furthermore, uniform microstrain and a smaller particle size contribute to structural disturbances that also influence the bandgap.

Abstract

Learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS/Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial) in basic education has its benefits because it combines two sciences at once, namely science and social sciences. In reality, many dynamics are found in the learning process at school. For this reason, this study critically reveals the learning of IPAS in basic education in the Merdeka Curriculum. Researchers use qualitative research by using content analysis as the analysis technique. The results showed that IPAS learning has two essential elements, namely understanding IPAS theoretically and process skills in practice. IPAS learning must also implement three phases, from grade 1 to grade 6. Although it has many benefits, the reality is that there are challenges in the learning process, including teachers still depending on textual with the lecture method and very rapid curriculum changes that confuse teacher performance in teaching. The classroom environment is not entirely conducive. For this reason, stakeholders need to provide appropriate solutions, one of which is by giving many comprehensive teacher competency improvement programs.

Abstract

An increase in the number of fossil fuel vehicles leads to increased energy consumption and exhaust emissions, which have a negative impact on the environment. One way to improve fuel efficiency is to optimize vehicle aerodynamic design, especially through the addition of a rear spoiler. This study aims to analyze the effect of city car body design with the addition of a rear spoiler on vehicle aerodynamic characteristics, such as drag coefficient, lift coefficient, and the ratio between the two. The research method used is numerical simulation with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using Ansys Fluent 2024 R1 Student Version software. The simulation was performed on a 3D city car model with airflow velocity variations of 10 m/s, 20 m/s, and 30 m/s. The data obtained were analyzed using grid independency analysis techniques to ensure the accuracy of the simulation results. The results show that the addition of a rear spoiler is able to reduce the lift coefficient thereby improving vehicle stability, although there is a slight increase in the drag coefficient as the airflow velocity increases. The negative ratio between the lift coefficient and drag coefficient indicates that the lift is downforce, which contributes to vehicle stability at high speeds. A suggestion from this research is the optimization of the spoiler shape to further reduce the drag coefficient without compromising vehicle stability. Further research can be conducted by testing variations in spoiler design and lighter materials for better aerodynamic efficiency.
