Abstract

We made the design for the rice husk gasifier stove with the supply air using a blower. Retrieved reactor diameter is 15 cm and height 70 cm. The maximum operating time obtained is 43 minutes with maximum efficiency approaching 15%. Air supply during the operation of the furnace must be set up to fire over. Comparing with the furnace designed to research conducted by Belonio, 2005, the results was close enough, especially for the operating time and efficiency tools. The problem in this design is fan supplied air supply has current greater than the Belonios design.

Abstract

We considered the effect of aspect ratio L/H (where L is span length of a prism, and H is the height of a bluff body normal to the flow direction) on the response amplitude of cantilevered rectangular and D-shaped cross-section prims for energy harvesting. The prism was mounted elastically to a plate spring attached to the ceiling wall with a jig in the test section of the water tunnel. The prism with an aspect ratio of L/H = 2.5 has a small angle amplitude as compared to that with L/H ≥ 5. Increment rate of response amplitude of prisms increased proportionally with the aspect ratio. The D-section prism with an aspect ratio of L/H = 10 has a stable peak amplitude and a large increment rate of response amplitude. Therefore, the D-section prism with L/H = 10 is a more suitable cross-section for energy harvesting from transverse-galloping vibration. By using magnetostricitve material as harvester energy, potential power gained from small side ratio for both prism that is 0.99 and 0.48 volt for D-section and rectangular prisms respectively.  Keywords—Flow-induced vibration, Cantilevered prism, Rectangular prism, D-section prism, Aspect ratio

Abstract

Siswa belum mampu menerapkan apa yang dipelajari disekolah pada tempat siswa tersebut melaksanakan Praktek Kerja Industri. Dunia kerja kurang percaya memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk melaksanakan Praktek Kerja Industri sebagaimana mestinya. Serta Praktek Kerja Industri belum terlaksana sesuai dengan tujuannya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Persepsi Siswa Tentang Pelaksanaan Praktek Kerja Industri dengan Kesiapan Memasuki Dunia Kerja Jurusan Teknik Pemesinan SMK Negeri Se-Kota Padang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional yaitu untuk menentukan tingkat hubungan variabel yang berbeda bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana hubungan variabel (X) dengan variabel (Y). Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Juni pada siswa Jurusan Teknik Pemesinan di SMKN 1 Sumbar, SMKN 1 Padang dan SMKN 5 Padang dengan jumlah populasi 166 siswa. Teknik sampling yang dipakai adalah random sampling sejumlah 117 siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan pada 117 siswa terdapat hubungan antara Persepsi Siswa Tentang Pelaksanaan Praktek Kerja Industri dengan Kesiapan Memasuki Dunia Kerja Jurusan Teknik Pemesinan SMK Negeri Se-Kota Padang dengan nilai korelasi (r) atau r hitung sebesar 0.420 > 0.182 r tabel.

Abstract

An airfoil is a geometry shape of an aircraft wing designed to produce high lift force and low drag forces. Study on the air flow and pressure around of the airfoil was important step to analysis lift force and drag force. Factor affecting the lift force and drag force airfoil are the geometry and dimensions of the airfoil. This study to discus about the modification airfoil NACA 1408 was performed by adding round tip in leading edge to obtain simulate air flow by varying the angle of attack. The result showed that coefficient of lift (Cl) and coefficient of drag (Cd) was calculated from the simulations, data the highest Cl and Cd were 0.00277 and 0.00025 for the standard airfoil and for modification airfoil were 0.00343 and 0.00064. Based on the test result, the modified airfoil can produce better lift force than the standard shapes for test speed of 20 m/s. Airfoil merupakan bentuk geometri sayap pesawat terbang yang dirancang untuk menghasilkan lift force tinggi dan drag force rendah. Studi tentang aliran udara dan tekanan di sekitar airfoil adalah langkah penting untuk menganalisis lift force dan drag force. Faktor yang mempengaruhi lift force dan drag force airfoil adalah geometri dan dimensi airfoil tersebut. Penelitian ini membahas tentang modifikasi dilakukan pada airfoil NACA 1408 dengan menambahkan ujung bulat pada leading edge dan mendapatkan simulasi aliran udara dengan memvariasikan angle of attack. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa coefficient of lift dan coefficient of drag dihitung dari simulasi, data coefficient of lift dan coefficient of drag tertinggi adalah 0.00277 dan 0.00025 untuk airfoil standar dan untuk airfoil modifikasi adalah 0.00343 dan 0.00064. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian, airfoil modifikasi dapat menghasilkan lift force lebih baik daripada bentuk standar untuk kecepatan uji 20 m/s.

Abstract

Pneumatic conveying is a material transport tool that utilizes compressed air in a pipe that comes from a blower or compressor. The EP dust raw mill material transport equipment is designed using the pneumatic conveying principle which aims to deliver the material optimally to the cement mill. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the fluid flow in the EP dust Raw Mill material transport system pipe which aims to determine the phenomenon of fluid flow in the pipe design and find the head loss of the material transport pipe. This analysis uses a numerical method that is solving problems by being formulated mathematically by calculating operations and assisted by solidworks software. The size of the pipe to be analyzed is 330 meters long with a diameter of 0.2 meters and has 8 elbows and a head loss of 425.53 meters is obtained, while the results of theoretical calculations obtained a major loss of 374.61 meters and a minor loss of 20.87 meters and the total head loss is 395.48 meters. Pneumatic conveying merupakan alat transpor material yang memanfaatkan udara bertekanan dalam pipa yang berasal dari blower maupun compressor. Alat transpor material EP dust raw mill dirancang menggunakan prinsip pneumatic conveying yang bertujuan untuk menghantarkan material secara optimal menuju cement mill. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis aliran fluida yang berada didalam pipa sistem transpor material EP dust Raw Mill yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui fenomena aliran fluida pada desain pipa dan mencari head loss dari pipa transpor material tersebut. Analisis ini menggunakan metode numerik yaitu menyelesaikan permasalahan dengan diformulasikan secara matematis dengan cara operasi hitungan dan dibantu oleh software solidworks. Ukuran Pipa yang akan dianalisis sepanjang 330 meter dengan diameter 0,2 meter dan memiliki elbow sebanyak 8 buah dan didapatkan headloss sebesar 425,53 meter sedangkan dari hasil perhitungan teoritis didapatkan major loss sepanjang 374,61 meter dan minor loss sebesar 20,87 meter dan total head lossnya sebesar 395,48 meter.

Abstract

Rangka batang (truss) adalah sistem struktural yang terdiri dari sejumlah bagian (batang), yang masing-masing diyakini bertindak sebagai sambungan pada simpulnya dan yang hanya dapat menahan gaya aksial. Pengukuran gaya-gaya pada rangka batang sederhana (truss apparatus) merupakan salah satu modul dalam Praktikum Fenomena Dasar Mesin. Praktikum ini bertujuan agar mahasiswa mampu memahami perhitungan parameter-parameter penting dalam Fenomena Dasar Mesin secara teroritis dan melakukan eksperimen menggunakan alat ukur untuk mengukur parameter tersebut. Dalam paper ini dilakukan kajian literatur tentang proses rancang bangun alat praktikum rangka batang (truss bidang) secara sistematik dengan meninjau model truss dan instrumentasi. Tinjauan model truss meliputi tinjauan tentang bentuk truss, jumlah batang, bentuk sambungan (joint), dan material rangka batang. Tinjuan instrumentasi meliputi sensor pengukur gaya, sistem data akuisisi, rangkaian alat elektronika, tampilan data melalui LCD dll. Hasil kajian sistematis ini akan digunakan sebagai sumber acuan dalam proses rancang bangun truss apparatus (rangka batang bidang) dilakukan di Jurusan Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negari Padang.

Abstract

One of the biomass potentials that can be utilized is felled wood waste which can be used as an energy source. The advantage of biomass is that it can be renewed so that it triggers a sustainable energy source. Biomass energy that will be made into briquettes is processed and compressed so that the shape is more regular and has a high calorific value. In this study, wood waste will be used as a source of biomass. The test was carried out, namely the thermogravimetric test to determine the proximate content. The method used is using Sengon wood as a raw material with a particle size exceeding 18 mesh but not exceeding 30 mesh. Briquetting using a hydraulic pump and briquette hot molding, temperature variations of 250℃, 300℃, and 330℃ with a time of 10 minutes. The test was carried out, namely the thermogravimetric test to determine the proximate content of the briquettes. Applying pressure to the briquettes while simultaneously heating makes the briquettes strong. From 3 variations of temperature treatment, it was found that the temperature of 330℃ had a high carbon content and low volatility of all test samples. Salah satu potensi biomassa yang bisa dijadikan sebagai sumber energi adalah limbah kayu hasil tebangan. Kelebihan biomassa adalah dapat diperbaharui. Energi biomassa yang akan dibuat menjadi briket diolah dan dimampatkan sehingga bentuknya lebih teratur dan mempunyai nilai kalor yang tinggi. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan sampah kayu untuk sumber biomassa. Pengujian dilakukan yaitu uji thermogravimetric untuk mengetahui kandungan proximate. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan bahan baku kayu sengon dengan ukuran partikel antara 18 mesh tetapi tidak lebih dari 30 mesh. Pembriketan dengan pompa hidrolik dan cetak panas briket, variasi temperature 250℃, 300℃ dan 330℃ dengan waktu selama 10 menit. Pengujian thermogravimetric dilakukan untuk mengetahui kandungan proximate dari briket. Pemberian tekanan pada briket sekaligus pemanasan menjadikan briket yang kuat, dari 3 variasi perlakuan suhu. didapatkan bahwa suhu 330℃ memiliki kandungan karbon yang tinggi dan volatile yang rendah dari semua sample uji.
