Abstract

Stroke causes weakness in the limbs, which makes stroke patients often fall into bed rest. Continuous pressure on the skin and bone protrusions during bed rest can lead to decreased blood flow, tissue ischemia, and infection, which can result in pressure injury. Bedrest conditions will differ from one disease to another, with the highest incidence in stroke patients. Internal and external factors influence the risk of pressure ulcers and their severity. The study aims to analyze the risk factors for pressure injury in stroke patients. This literature review used two international databases PubMed and Science Direct, and other supporting literature from Google Scholar. The keywords pressure injury, risk factors, and stroke were used. The articles were published between 2016 and 2021. The quality of the articles was examined using the Joanna Briggs Institute Review Instrument.  The results show pressure injuries in stroke patients arise from the combined effects of immobility, moisture, compromised nutritional status, and sensory impairment. Prolonged inability to change body position contributes to sustained pressure, reduced tissue perfusion, and increased vulnerability of the skin, while moisture associated with incontinence promotes maceration and disrupts epithelial integrity. Pressure injuries are a serious problem in stroke patients, especially those who are on bed rest. Providing education and counseling, as well as assistance to families, should be carried out, using interesting media and paying attention to every risk factor for pressure injuries.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a major concern in low- and middle-income countries, including Indonesia’s wetland regions such as Sungai Rangas Village, where environmental and cultural factors heighten disease burden and influence quality of life. Traditional and complementary therapies are commonly practiced, highlighting the need for culturally appropriate care models. This study examined adaptive responses and quality of life among hypertensive patients using Roy’s Adaptation Model, operationalized through an assessment instrument covering four modes: physiological, self-concept, role function, and interdependence. A quantitative descriptive design involved 120 respondents aged ≥40 years selected through purposive sampling. Data were obtained using structured interviews and the WHOQOL-BREF. Most respondents were female (56.7%), older adults (40% ≥60 years), and had low levels of education. Findings showed the highest adaptive responses in interdependence (61.7%) and self-concept (59.2%), while role function had the lowest (55%). Quality of life was highest in social relationships (mean 62.4) and lowest in psychological health (56.1). Respondents with adaptive responses in all modes were more likely to report a higher quality of life (65%). Overall, adaptation patterns in wetland environments strongly shape the quality of life. Roy’s Adaptation Model provides a culturally sensitive framework, supporting recommendations such as strengthening peer support, environment-based health education, and improved mobile health access during flood seasons.

Abstract

Cervical cancer, the leading cause of death for women in developing countries, is now threatening adolescents aged 21-22 years due to HPV infection and lack of knowledge about prevention through vaccination. In Indonesia, cases and deaths from cervical cancer are relatively high, although the prevalence in NTB is lower. HPV immunization coverage in NTB is still 38,99% of the target of 90%, especially at the elementary school level such as MI Nurul Islam, where low student understanding and parental rejection are obstacles. This research seeks to determine the influence of Animated Video Education Media on HPV knowledge among children aged 10-11 years in MI Nurul Islam, which is in the working area of Karang Pule Health Center. The research is a pre-experimental type with a pretest-posttest design; the total sampling approach determined that the research sample consisted of 40 individuals. By comparing students' knowledge before and after the intervention, the Wilcoxon test with α = 0,05 is used to examine how well video increases knowledge regarding HPV vaccination. The study's findings demonstrated that respondents' knowledge of HPV vaccination was 65% in the poor category prior to receiving the video, and 92.5% in the good category following the video. This was demonstrated by an average increase from 49.25 to 91 with a P-Value (0,000 <0,05). This means that there is an effective video about HPV towards the Level of Knowledge of Children Aged 10-11 Years in MI Nurul Islam, Karang Pule Health Center, Working Area. The results of the study are expected to provide benefits for respondents, future researchers, educational institutions, and research sites.

Abstract

Hypertension is an increasingly common health problem worldwide and poses a significant risk for various cardiovascular conditions. To prevent an increase in the incidence and mortality rates, preventive measures are needed to identify the risks associated with hypertension. Behavioral and Lifestyle changes are the primary foundation in the prevention and treatment of hypertension. Changing behavior is a key factor that can influence the lifestyle of individuals with hypertension. This scoping review aims to examine the relationship between lifestyle patterns, behavior, and the risk of hypertension. A scoping review was conducted using a comprehensive literature search across PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis, focusing on original studies involving human participants, Behavior and lifestyle outcomes reported, and studies published between 2020 and 2025. Article analysis uses the PRISMA-ScR Checklist. A total of 7 studies were analyzed. Findings show that Individuals who are obese or have other diseases (ex, diabetes mellitus) and do not adopt a healthy lifestyle have a higher risk of complications such as hypertension. Lifestyle patterns and Behaviors such as abstaining from smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, maintaining a balanced diet (DASH diet), and engaging in regular physical activity have consistently been associated with reduced risk of hypertension and cardiometabolic comorbidities. Patients who combine physical activity and a healthy lifestyle have a lower risk of death. The integration of lifestyle modifications (such as not smoking, exercising, maintaining sleep quality, and not consuming alcohol) with medication adherence helps in the sustainable management of hypertension.

Abstract

Schizophrenia commonly reduces self-care abilities due to positive and negative symptoms and impaired executive function, which limit independence and quality of life. A structured daily schedule is a simple non-pharmacological strategy that may support routine formation and increase patient engagement. This study aimed to examine the effect of a daily nursing schedule on the self-care abilities of patients with schizophrenia. A quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design was used with 35 respondents. The intervention group received a structured daily self-care schedule for six days. Self-care independence was measured using an observation sheet adapted from the Indonesian Nursing Outcome Standards (SLKI) code L.11103 (Self-Care). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results showed a significant improvement in the intervention group (p = 0.000), while the control group showed no significant change (p = 0.180). The daily schedule was effective because it provided structure, predictability, and clear expectations, allowing patients to build consistent habits and participate more actively in self-care tasks. The intervention also encouraged family involvement, strengthening external support, and reinforcing patient motivation. These findings indicate that a structured daily schedule can be integrated into psychiatric nursing practice as an effective and low-cost psychosocial intervention to enhance independence, reduce caregiver burden, and improve the quality of life of individuals with schizophrenia. Future studies are recommended to assess long-term outcomes, involve larger and more diverse samples, and explore the use of digital scheduling tools or structured family participation to optimize intervention results.
