Abstract

The Javanese are one of the largest ethnic groups in Indonesia, whose presence spreads not only throughout Indonesia, but also dominates the population in several areas in other countries, such as in Suriname and New Caledonia. Javanese ethnic culture is basically centralized from the past kingdoms which are still standing today, namely Surakarta and Yogyakarta. The Javanese cultural character that upholds social and spiritual harmony is one of the factors why this ethnic group is easy to adapt to local communities from various regions. It is interesting for the writer to explore the practice of Javanese traditions that still survive to this day which is a symbol of the harmony of the macrocosm and microcosm, one of which is the kirab pusaka from the Kasunanan Surakarta Palace. The author, using the method of philosophical hermeneutics, tries to analyze the tradition in the Deontology ethical perspective of Immanuel Kant. This analysis can be useful for understanding the correlation of the implementation of the kirab pusaka with the basic obligations held by the indigenous people of the Surakarta Kasunanan Palace in carrying out the kirab pusaka tradition.

Abstract

Buddhism is one of the heterodox schools of Indian philosophy, taught by Siddārtha around the VI century BC. His teachings aim to lead his followers to nirvana, by building universal values that are not compartmentalized, so that they are free from the varna system. However, after the influence of Tantra in the VII century AD, Buddhist philosophy turned to Buddhism. The problem to be analyzed in this article is “what is the dialectic of enlightenment Buddhism?” The theoretical concept used in this article is hermeneutics. This article uses qualitative research methods. The results of the analysis in this article are that the teachings of Buddhist philosophy are universal, outside of certain religions and castes. Meanwhile, Buddhism's teachings are only embraced by its followers (limited in nature). However, what connects the two is the teaching of ethics. Where the goal is to free mankind from suffering. Thus, the relationship between the three forms a dialectic.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to conduct a study of religious ethics implemented in the ritual tradition of mapag toya by the Hindu community in Pelapuan Village, Busungbiu Subdistrict, Buleleng Regency, Bali. This research is designed in an interpretive descriptive type in an effort to find answers to the three problem formulations, namely how is the implementation, what is the function, and how is the content of religious ethical values in the mapag toya tradition? This study produced three findings related to religious ethics in the implementation of the mapag toya ritual in the Hindu community in Pelapuan Village,. First, the implementation of the mapag toya ritual involves the procedures for carrying out the ceremony in sequences that comply with the stages that show the systematics of Hindu religious ceremonies. Second, the function of carrying out the mapag toya ceremony is to request the irrigation system, raise awareness of Hindus in carrying out yadnya before Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, and increase sradha (belief) and bhakti (devotion) of Hindus to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa because with Thus, Hindus in the current era of globalization can still live up to religious teachings in the midst of the swift influence of modernization. Third, religious ethical values in the mapag toya ceremony are a moral order in which humans are given the opportunity to do good and to harmonize individual desires, emotions and desires that are directed towards a better life. In this regard, in relation to the philosophical dimension, religious ethics in the mapag toya tradition shows the existence of moral principles that guide Hindus in their behavior towards improving the quality of life.
