Abstract

This study aims (1) to describe the social conditions of society depicted in the short story “Tiga Kuburan Lain” and (2) to identify and analyze the forms of social criticism that emerge within it. The research employs Soekanto’s social theories as an analytical foundation to understand the societal dynamics presented in the literary text. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach, as it is suitable for examining meanings, messages, and social phenomena represented narratively. The data source of this study is the short story “Tiga Kuburan Lain” by T. Agus Khaidir, published on Kompas.com in the October 2024 edition. Data collection techniques include close reading and note-taking, conducted by carefully examining the text and recording segments relevant to the research focus. Based on the findings, several portrayals of social conditions within the story are identified, including: (a) shifts in the attitudes and mindsets of the older generation from previously held values, (b) the presence of discrimination against minority groups as reflected through unjust social treatment, (c) the diminishing spirit of communal cooperation (gotong royong), once a hallmark of the community, and (d) the indecisiveness of political figures in addressing the issues presented in the narrative. Furthermore, the forms of social criticism found in the short story include criticism of political practices, criticism of discriminatory behavior, and criticism of sociocultural changes within society. Thus, the short story not only presents a narrative but also conveys a critical reflection on social realities.

Abstract

Abstract This research to describe the congregation’s ability to comprehend the message of God’s Word through the use of audiovisual media. Data were collected through direct interviews with members of the congregation following the worship service, after they had listened to the sermon presented using audiovisual media. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the congregation’s listening ability at GKN Shalom Sentani in relation to the audiovisual presentation of scriptural messages. Findings revealed that 85% of the participants indicated that audiovisual media provided strong dual-channel stimuli (visual and auditory), which significantly enhanced their comprehension and memory of the message. This outcome aligns with the stimulus–response theory and supports the application of audiovisual media based on the principles of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML). The study recommends that church leaders and educators consider utilizing audiovisual media in the delivery of sermons, as it has the potential to serve as an effective cognitive stimulus and reinforce congregational retention of Bible messages. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses penggunaan Canva sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia pada materi teks argumentasi siswa kelas XI di SMAN 1 Kartasura. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa dan objek pada penelitian ini yaitu poster berisi argumentasi buatan siswa. Adapun data pada penelitian ini berupa deskripsi informasi proses penggunaan Canva sebagai media teks argumentasi dalam bentuk poster. Sumber data pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa yang menjadi pelaku implementasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi proses pembelajaran, dokumentasi hasil kerja siswa, dan catatan mengenai tantangan yang dihadapi selama penggunaan Canva. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara deskriptif melalui idenifikasi pola penggunaan Canva dalam pembelajaran, respon dan juga motivasi siswa, serta kendala-kendala yang dihadapi oleh siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Canva sebagai media pembelajaran mendapat respon positif dari siswa. Meskipun demikian dalam implementasinya terdapat kendala-kendala yang dialami siswa, misalnya (1) keterbatasan akses internet, (2) keterbatasan fitur aplikasi versi gratis, (3) kesenjangan kemampuan siswa dalam menggunakan aplikasi.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the potential of Nias myths and local wisdom in the development of science learning (Natural Sciences) and the strengthening of students’ scientific argumentation skills. The method employed is a library research approach with a systematic framework, including the identification, evaluation, and synthesis of literature related to local wisdom, ethnoscience, cultural narratives, the integration of culture into science learning, and the development of scientific argumentation. The findings indicate that Nias myths contain knowledge of natural phenomena that can serve as a contextual, relevant, and meaningful learning context for students. The narrative structure of the myths facilitates the extraction of scientific concepts, the development of cause-and-effect reasoning, and the understanding of human-environment interactions, thereby enhancing scientific literacy and critical thinking skills. The integration of local wisdom into science learning also supports the development of scientific argumentation, as students are trained to construct claims, link evidence, reason logically, and compare traditional perspectives with modern scientific knowledge. This study emphasizes that Nias myths are not merely cultural heritage but also an effective pedagogical resource for culturally based science education. The implications of this research can serve as a foundation for developing contextual science learning modules and teaching strategies that combine local cultural identity with scientific competencies.

Abstract

This research analyzes keywords and collocation patterns in public policy discourse through a case study of President Prabowo Subianto's speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026. Using a corpus linguistics approach, this study identifies prominent keywords and collocation patterns that form the ideological construction of Indonesian government policies. The research data consists of the president's speech transcript delivered in Davos, Switzerland on January 22, 2026. Analysis was conducted through word frequency identification, keyness calculation, and collocation pattern analysis using a qualitative-quantitative approach. The research findings indicate that dominant keywords include "Indonesia," "peace," "stability," "growth," and "economy," which form three main themes: (1) the narrative of peace and stability as economic prerequisites, (2) the construction of credibility and state governance, and (3) the rhetoric of social justice and anti-corruption. The identified collocation patterns reveal discursive strategies that combine economic nationalism narratives with commitments to global governance. These findings contribute to understanding how state leaders construct policy legitimacy through lexical choices and linguistic patterns in international forums

Abstract

Indigenous medicinal plant knowledge constitutes a crucial component of ecolinguistic systems, as it is embedded in linguistic expressions that reflect ecological relationships, healing practices, and cultural values. However, this knowledge is increasingly threatened by language shift and insufficient documentation, particularly within low-resource indigenous communities. This study develops an AI-based ecolinguistic framework to systematically document and represent Nias ethnomedicinal knowledge by integrating ethnobotanical field data with culturally grounded artificial intelligence approaches. Qualitative data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with traditional Nias healers, resulting in the identification of fifteen commonly used medicinal plant species. To assess cultural salience and communal consensus, the study applied the Relative Frequency of Citation (RFC) index. The quantitative findings reveal an uneven distribution of cultural prominence among the documented species. Notably, Gundre and Mbulu Nazalöu emerged as the most frequently cited plants (FC = 14; RFC = 0.93 each), indicating their central role within the Nias ethnomedical knowledge system. The documented knowledge was subsequently structured using a Knowledge Graph model and enhanced through a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture to enable contextualized, culturally sensitive knowledge representation. The proposed framework demonstrates how artificial intelligence can support the preservation, organization, and revitalization of endangered indigenous medicinal knowledge while maintaining its ecolinguistic integrity.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how social media influences the parenting styles of millennial parents in Indonesia, given the limited research specifically addressing this phenomenon. Using a qualitative method with an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, the study involved eight millennial parents selected through purposive sampling, characterized by their active use of platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, digital documentation, and field notes, and were analyzed using IPA stages combined with the data reduction and display techniques of Miles & Huberman. The findings reveal four main themes: social media as a primary source of parenting knowledge; the construction of identity as modern parents; the implementation of parenting practices based on digital content; and emerging challenges such as anxiety, social comparison, and confusion due to the abundance of diverse information. Social media is shown to play an ambivalent role—both empowering and pressuring depending on parents’ digital literacy in filtering and interpreting information. This study is expected to contribute to the development of digital communication studies, parenting research, and family education policy, while encouraging a more critical, healthy, and contextual use of social media in parenting practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of group counseling in developing adolescents’ social competence at SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Dalam. The research employed a qualitative approach using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to explore students’ subjective experiences in participating in group counseling sessions. Eight students were selected through purposive sampling based on their active involvement in at least six counseling sessions. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and documentation of the school counseling program. The analysis involved thematic coding, identification of meaning patterns, and interpretative examination of participants’ lived experiences. The findings indicate that group counseling dynamics significantly contribute to the enhancement of interpersonal communication skills, empathy and social sensitivity, self-confidence, and conflict management abilities. Supportive and reflective group interactions enable students to learn through direct experience and peer feedback. Group counseling also functions as a safe social learning environment that fosters emotional regulation and mature social perspective-taking. This study highlights the importance of integrating sustainable group counseling services into school guidance programs as both preventive and developmental strategies to strengthen adolescents’ social competence and character formation.

Abstract

Language is the primary means of communication used by humans to convey ideas, thoughts, and feelings in social life. In the Indonesian context, the Indonesian language plays an important role as both the national language and the official state language, functioning as a unifying tool for a society with diverse cultural backgrounds and regional languages. This study aims to conceptually examine the definition of language and the characteristics of the Indonesian language from a linguistic perspective. The research method employed is a qualitative approach using a library research design through the analysis of various relevant scientific literature sources. The results of the study indicate that the Indonesian language possesses several main characteristics: it is systematic, arbitrary, productive, dynamic, and conventional. These characteristics demonstrate that Indonesian is a structured linguistic system capable of developing in accordance with the communication needs of society. Therefore, understanding the concepts and characteristics of the Indonesian language is essential to support proper and correct language use in various fields of life, particularly in education and academic communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phonological realization of Indonesian language sounds in speakers' speech and to identify the factors influencing the pronunciation system. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using library research methods and content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that phonological realization in speakers' speech is dynamic and varied, influenced by the first language which consistently shapes articulatory patterns. Pronunciation variations manifest in the form of phoneme substitution, sound deletion, sound structure simplification, as well as differences in intonation and word stress. From a phonological perspective, such variation is part of a natural linguistic adaptation process that occurs in multilingual communities, rather than merely a language error. Furthermore, phonological realization has significant implications for communication effectiveness and Indonesian language learning. An understanding of phonological variation is expected to assist educators in designing more contextual and effective learning strategies for students with diverse regional language backgrounds.
