Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. In addition to pharmacological therapy, the use of natural ingredients such as pineapple (Ananas comosus) has the potential as a supportive therapy. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge levels and behavior regarding the use of pineapple as a complementary therapy in ihypercholesterolemic patient. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 100 patients at Clinic X Yogyakarta using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that most respondents had a moderate level of knowledge (84%) and a moderate level of usage behavior (68%). A significant relationship was found between the level of knowledge and usage behavior (p < 0.05; r = 0.400). It can be concluded that increasing knowledge has the potential to improve the behavior of pineapple use as a complementary therapy for hypercholesterolemia.

Mental disorders are serious conditions of the brain that manifest as abnormalities that affect a person's behavior and character. Schizophrenia is one type of mental disorder that is widely experienced by the community. The primary therapy for schizophrenia is anti-psychotics with routine and long-term medication, which leads to Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs). ADRs that appear have the potential to affect the quality of life of schizophrenia patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ADRs on the quality of life of schizophrenia patients at Soerojo Hospital Magelang. The study used a cross-sectional design. The population in this study was patients diagnosed with schizophrenia with consecutive sampling. The instruments used were the Naranjo and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires to assess the quality of life of schizophrenia patients. Data analysis was conducted univariately using frequency distributions and bivariately using the nonparametric Mann-Whitney test. Abstract

Skin beauty is one of the factors influencing adolescents’ appearance and self-confidence, leading to a growing interest in using whitening skin care products. However, insufficient knowledge and lack of selective attitudes in choosing products can pose health risks due to harmful ingredients such as hydroquinone and mercury. This study aims to analyze the knowledge and attitudes of MAN Temanggung students regarding the use of whitening skin care products. A quantitative descriptive research method was employed with a population of 743 students, and a sample of 137 respondents was selected using probability sampling. Data were collected via a Google Form questionnaire, measuring knowledge with a Guttman scale and attitudes with a Likert scale. The results showed that the majority of students had good knowledge (84%) concerning product legality, benefits, side effects, ingredients, and storage. Meanwhile, students’ attitudes toward using whitening skin care were mostly categorized as good (65%), although there was still a tendency to choose products based on advertisements or the results observed on others’ skin. These findings highlight the need for further education to improve adolescents’ awareness in selecting safe and suitable products according to their skin conditions.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the suboptimal medication adherence among patients with hypertension, which may affect the success of therapy. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a web-based educational application on medication adherence and to assess the differences in adherence levels before and after the intervention among hypertensive patients at Lumbung Community Health Center, Ciamis Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 57 respondents. Data were collected at Lumbung Community Health Center using questionnaires, and web-based educational interventions were provided in three stages with a three-day interval between each session. Medication adherence was measured before and after the educational intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed a significant improvement in medication adherence following the web-based educational intervention, with a significance value of p = 0.00001 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate a statistically significant difference in medication adherence levels before and after the web-based educational intervention.
