Abstract

Painting, as a fine art discipline, typically involves the conversion of human experiences, both internal and external, into a two-dimensional material, such as paper or canvas. Paintings are distinguished by their emotion, necessitating effective conveyance. The production of quality paintings necessitates a foundation of knowledge and proficiency in techniques. Supporting components encompass a fundamental comprehension of visual elements and principles, as well as a diligent observation of worldwide occurrences to remain informed about contemporary issues and advancements in painting. The fundamental skills in painting encompass applying color using brush strokes, followed by the process of generating repetitive lines, known as shading techniques. Shading techniques are fundamental methods in the creation of drawing art. The current period offers boundless opportunities for elaboration and collaboration, encompassing a range of creation processes and the research of mediums, from traditional to expanded forms. The liberty to utilize diverse mediums influences the evolution of painting with shading techniques, transitioning from traditional drawing to expanded drawing, which encompasses art that transcends conventional materials like paper or canvas.

Abstract

Working as a sailor or crew member on the Fosep Engine Vessel owned by a Korean entity entails a significant risk of occupational stress. The crew members often spend approximately six months annually working and residing away from home in a distinctive work setting. Moreover, fluctuating internal circumstances aboard the vessel and diverse worker histories may induce occupational stressors. Determinants of work-related stress are essential for enhancing appreciation and aesthetic interest in aesthetic objects, thereby influencing routine behavior and entertainment, which ultimately fosters a more optimal work ethic and mitigates boredom among the crew members on the Fosep Engine Vessel owned by a Korean entity. This study aims to explore an artistic approach to relaxation in employee psychological therapy, with the anticipated results serving as a reference for interdisciplinary collaboration in the realms of art and maritime work, ultimately enhancing work ethic and alleviating employee stress. The employed research methodology is qualitative, utilizing data gathering techniques such as surveys, questionnaires, observations, and interviews, alongside triangulation analysis methods to derive conclusions from the findings. This study concludes that art serves as a vehicle for individuals to articulate emotions, thoughts, and experiences, providing enjoyment during work-related boredom, therefore enhancing work ethic and alleviating employee stress. Artistic entertainment may serve as a means to regulate emotions, allowing the mind to govern kinesthetic possibilities, sensory experiences, and symbolic interpretations, so facilitating expressive communication.

Abstract

This research aims to design a 2-dimensional animation that focuses on education about natural disasters, especially for elementary school children aged 10-12 years. By utilizing design principles, this animation is developed to provide information that is easy to understand and attracts children's attention. The design method involves a literature study on the types of natural disasters, learning characteristics of elementary school children, and animation principles. After that, the storyboard process and character development were carried out in accordance with the needs of children's education about natural disasters. The result of this research is a 2-dimensional animation designed creatively and informatively, presenting material about natural disasters such as the types, and how to take shelter. This animation is expected to increase elementary school children's understanding of the dangers of natural disasters, as well as provide basic knowledge about actions that can be taken to reduce the risk and damage caused by natural disasters.

Abstract

Lungun is a musical piece inspired by the andung Batak tradition of grief singing, expressing sorrow for a loved one. Andung songs are chanted by a pangandung (poet) using hata andung verses (Toba Batak fine literature) whose content tells the life history of someone who has died. Nowadays, the andung tradition has shifted, and many people cannot practice it; This is because many younger generations can no longer speak with hata andung, andung singing tends to be replaced with spiritual songs. Andung is unique in terms of lyrical and musical, andung is even a cultural heritage that the Batak community itself should preserve. The above problem requires the creator to work on Lungun music, which aims to discover the musical form and symbolic meaning. The method used is panca sthiti ngawi sani, which consist of five stages: (1) inspiration (ngawirasa), (2) exploration (ngawacak), (3) conception (ngarencana), (4) execution (ngawangun) and (4) production (ngabah). Lungun's musical work incorporates elements such as the Toba Batak scales, processed andung vocals, hata andung poems, rhythm processing, and Gondang Sabangunanplaying techniques into chamber music performances. Lungun music has three parts: part I is mula-mula (beginning), part II is andung (vocal lamentation singing), and part III is poda (message). The symbolic meaning expressed in Lungun music refers to the values found in the Toba Batak community: the Dalihan Na Tolu Batak philosophy, the five levels of Toba Batak death, and the seven Toba Batak philosophies.

Abstract

The many platforms for performing arts for children with special needs provided by the government provide opportunities for them to express themselves through the arts, as well as promote social inclusion and community acceptance of the diversity of individual abilities. Different and unique learning methods make the author interested and want to know the quality of their movements in dance. Deaf people are the main object of this research. By using codes, they are able to dance traditional dances such as Remo Gagrag Ayar Dance. This thesis examines the quality of movement in deaf individuals using La Meri's theory of the basic elements of dance. These elements include space, energy, and time, which are used as a framework to evaluate movement quality in the context of deaf individuals. La Meri's theory provides a foundation for understanding how deaf people are able to develop their movement expression despite different sensory challenges. The research also integrates Merleau-Ponty's theory of the body, which challenges the common view that a perfect body is a complete body. By focusing on bodily experience and sensory perception, this thesis reveals how deaf people can change perceptions about their movement abilities and artistic expression.

Abstract

Since the implementation of free trade agreements (AFTA) and ACFTA (Global Trade with China), the development of the leather industry in Cibaduyut Village has experienced a decline in production. Local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Cibaduyut Village must adapt to marketing systems that use communication technology. Social media has become an easy and inexpensive way to reach consumers. However, the main issue is that due to the rapid advancement of technology, not all SMEs in the Cibaduyut leather center can adapt quickly. They need to learn extensively and familiarize themselves with using technology (e-commerce). Effective product branding and attractive social media design can also enhance brand awareness, thereby leaving a distinct impression of the product in the public’s mind. According to a Sea Insights survey, 54% of SME respondents are increasingly adaptive in using social media to boost sales (Alika, 2020). E-commerce usage is a growing trend in Indonesia and will continue to evolve, leading to new innovations.

Abstract

The Madurese community in Surabaya is the source of inspiration for Apolong's artwork. The social structures in their hometown are still firmly upheld even if they have moved to Surabaya. Many Madurese settlements, notably those in Sawah Pulo and Semampir Surabaya, have arisen as a result. The purpose of this effort is to shed light on Surabaya's cultural variety. However, it also makes an effort to understand Madura within the framework of its metropolitan existence. It is hoped that people will be conscious of the need to appreciate, comprehend, and understand other ethnic groups.
