Abstract

The aims of the research was to determine the effect of antioxidants addition on liquid semen quality of young ram and knowing which antioxidants have the most excellent effect. The research was conducted experimentally with completely randomized design (CRD). There were three treatments, that were P0 = semen added diluent without the addition of antioxidants as a control, P1 = semen added diluent have been added 9,3 mM glutathione, P2 = semen added diluent have been added 9,3 mM alpha tocopherol. Each treatment was repeated six times. The parameters consist of sperm motility and intact plasma membrane (IPM). The result showed that the addition of antioxidants can maintain liquid semen motility of young ram on day 6, 9, and 11, while addition of antioxidant has no significant effect on IPM. Result showed that glutathion is the best antioxidants that can maintain motility on day 6, 9 and 11 is glutathione with the average 72,28%, 62,47%, and 54,43%, nevertheless for alpha tocopherol with average 58,11%, 48,13%, and 41,95% gave result is not significant to P0 motility with average 62,29%, 53,08%, and 42,36%. It is concluded that addition of antioxidant can maintain liquid semen motility on day 6, 9, and 11 but can not give effect to the IPM, and the addition of antioxidant glutathione give the most excellent effect to liquid semen motility.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama implan CIDR (Controlled Internal Drug Released) terhadap perubahan ukuran vulva kambing Peranakan Etawah. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 jenis perlakuan (P1 = implan CIDR selama 10 hari, P2 = implan CIDR selama 12 hari, P3 = implan CIDR selama 14 hari) dengan 6 kali ulangan. Parameter yang diukur adalah lebar dan panjang vulva. Hasil analisis deskriptif terhadap persentase estrus menunjukkan bahwa semua ternak dari berbagai perlakuan mengalami estrus. Hasil analisis perubahan ukuran celah vulva pada hari ke-1, hari ke-2, dan hari ke-3 menggunakan uji polinomial ortogonal menunjukkan tidak terdapat perubahan signifikan pada hari ke-1 dan ke-2 antar perlakuan, namun terdapat perubahan signifikan pada hari ke-3. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa lama implan CIDR memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap perubahan ukuran celah vulva pada hari ke-3.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan November 2019 sampai dengan bulan Januari 2020 di Kawasan geopark Ciletuh-Pelabuhanratu, Sukabumi Jawa Barat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui sebaran populasi, struktur populasi, dan Nilai Efektif populasi ternak kerbau lokal di Kawasan geopark-Ciletuh Pelabuhanratu, Sukabumi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei dengan pengumpulan data populasi ternak diambil dari data Puskeswan dan Dinas Peternakan Kabupaten Sukabumi, data dihitung menggunakan rumus Nilai Efektif populasi. Responden dipilih secara random sampling di tiap Kecamatan. Data yang telah didapat baik data primer dan data sekunder dianalisis menggunakan analisis SWOT. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa sebaran populasi ternak kerbau lokal di Kawasan Geopark Ciletuh-Pelabuhanratu menyebar hampir di seluruh Kecamatan, jumlah ternak kerbau lokal paling banyak berada di Kecamatan Cikakak dan paling sedikit ada di  Kecamatan Pelabuhanratu. Struktur populasi ternak kerbau lokal di Kawasan Geopark Ciletuh-Pelabuhanratu di dominasi oleh ternak kerbau betina dewasa, hal ini karena peternak memilihara ternak kerbau untuk menghasilkan anak yang akan dijual. Nilai Efektif populasi ternak kerbau lokal di Kawasan Geopark Ciletuh-Pelabuhanratu dapat dikatakan aman, dilihat dari hasil perhitungan Nilai Efektif populasinya sebesar 1.904,9. Potensi daya dukung kawasan ini cukup baik dilihat dari hasil perhitungan bahwa kawasan ini mampu menampung  246.873,98 satuan ternak.Kata kunci       : Kerbau, Nilai Efektif, Geopark Ciletuh

Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the right time for breeding after hormonal induction with the application of Artificial Insemination to increase pregnancy. The research material were 20 local goat. Estrous synchronization technique is performed using an intravaginal implant of EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR®, then injecting Pregnecol TM serum Gonadotrophin 400 IU intramuscularly 48 hours before the removal of EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR®. The length of intravaginal implant of EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR® is divided into two groups, 8 (A) and 16 (B) days. To analyze the hormone progesterone (P) blood samples are taken once every twelve hours to 72 hours after the removal of EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR®. Artificial insemination is done by cervical technique using frozen semen. The results of the research showed that estrous synchronization with the duration of intravaginal implant EAZI-BREED ™ CIDR® in the two groups was not significantly difference in terms of response, onset or duration of estrus. However, the percentage of pregnancy rate after insemination was different, where the pregnancy rate in group A was lower than group B (37.50 vs 50.00%).

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ekstrak kulit manggis yang disuplementasi dengan Cu dan Zn dalam ransum terhadap performa ayam sentul (konsumsi ransum, pertumbuhan bobot badan, konversi ransum dan dewasa kelamin) pada fase developer. Penelitian ini menggunakan 40 ekor ayam sentul betina umur 17 minggu, dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari sampai Maret 2020 yang bertempat di Laboratorium Sentral dan Test Farm Fakultas Peternakan, Universitas Padjadjaran. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan terdiri dari P0 (ransum basal), P1 (ransum basal ditambahkan 60mg/kg ransum ekstrak kulit manggis yang suplementasi Cu dan Zn), P2 (ransum basal ditambahkan 120mg/kg ransum ekstrak kulit manggis yang disuplementasi Cu dan Zn), P3 (ransum basal ditambahkan 180mg/kg ransum ekstrak kulit manggis yang disuplementasi Cu dan Zn), P4 (ransum basal ditambahkan 240 mg/kg ransum ekstrak kulit manggis yang disuplementasi Cu dan Zn). Setiap perlakuan dilakukan pengulangan sebanyak 4 kali dan setiap pengulangan terdiri dari 5 ekor ayam Sentul. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak kulit manggis yang disuplementasi Cu dan Zn berpengaruh terhadap konsumsi ransum, PBB, FCR, dan umur dewasa kelamin ayam Sentul. Penambahan sampai dengan konsentrasi 240 mg/kg ransum menghasilkan pengaruh yang sama terhadap performa ayam Sentul

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of storage at room temperature on the durability of the acrosome cap and plasma membrane of Bali cattle spermatozoa. This research was conducted at the Reproduction Laboratory of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Jambi University. The experiment was carried out using a completely randomized design  with 4 treatments and 6 replications. Storage treatment at room temperature consisted of T0: no storage (control),T1: storage for 2 hours, T2: storage for 4 hours, T3: storage for 6 hours. The data obtained from each variable analyzed with variance. The treatment had a significant effect, so Duncan's further test was carried out. The process of calculating the data using the SPSS program. From the results of this study, it was found that storage of spermatozoa at room temperature reduced the quality of Bali cattle's spermatozoa against the acrosome hood, plasma membrane, and spermatozoa recovery rate (P<0.05). At storage for up to 4 hours, both 44,33% acrosomal cap and 52.83% recovery rate were still eligible for insemination. In plasma membrane storage at room temperature ranging from 0 hours 56.60% to 6 hours 35.83% showed a fairly low average, which was below 60% as the minimum requirement for insemination

Abstract

This study aims to determine the morphometric crosses of Belgian Blue X Cattle Ongole Crossbreeds in West Java. This research was conducted from April - July 2022. This research was conducted in West Java. The method used is descriptive exploratory. The number of samples was 18 aged 1-9 months. The data collected consists of hip height, body length, chest circumference, chest width, chest depth and shoulder height. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of the analysis can be concluded that there are uniform data on hip height, chest circumference and shoulder height at each age, body length of 3-5 months and males aged 6-9 months, a chest circumference of males aged 1-9 months, chest width of males aged 1-9 months. 6-9 months, in males at each age and not uniform in body length for males 1-2 months old and females 6-9 months old, breast circumference for females 3-5 months, chest width for males aged 1-5 months and females age 3-9 months and in the chest of females aged 3-9 months. The size discrepancy is due to the heterosis effect.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of egg yolk levels in Tris diluents on the viability and motility sperm Muscovy duck (Cairina moshata). This research was conducted from January 11 until February 11 2022. The object of this study was semen from two years old of Muscovy drake. The research applied Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatment levels i.e.:  egg yolk by 5% (P1), egg yolk by 10% (P2), egg yolk by 15% (P3), and egg yolk by 20% (P4) with research parameters viability and motility after treatment.  The obtained data were analyzed using the ANOVA and Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Based on the results it can be concluded that the addition of egg yolk levels into the Tris diluent affects the viability and motility of sperm. The addition of egg yolk levels 10% in Tris diluents is the best level to produce the optimal viability and motility of Muscovy drake semen (Cairina moschata).

Abstract

Domba Garut sangat potensial sebagai sumber daging dibandingkan domba lokal atau bangsa domba lain. Namun, produktivitasnya masih rendah karena sistem pemeliharaan yang bersifat tradisional. Produktivitas Domba Garut dapat dilihat dari performa anaknya yang meliputi jumlah anak sekelahiran (litter size), bobot lahir, dan bobot sapih. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh sistem pemeliharaan intensif dengan umbaran dan tanpa umbaran terhadap produktivitas induk (litter size, bobot lahir dan bobot sapih) Domba Garut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama tiga bulan mulai Februari hingga April 2022. Objek penelitian yang digunakan adalah 20 ekor induk Domba Garut berumur 12 - 18 bulan dalam kondisi bunting pada kelahiran pertama. Data yang diperoleh di analisis menggunakan uji banding, yaitu uji t. Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa sistem pemeliharaan intensif dengan umbaran dan tanpa umbaran tidak berpengaruh (P>0.05) terhadap litter size, bobot lahir, dan bobot sapih Domba Garut. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan sistem pemeliharaan intensif dengan umbaran dan tanpa umbaran menghasilkan litter size, bobot lahir dan bobot sapih yang sama pada Domba Garut.  Kata kunci: Produktivitas, Domba Garut, Litter size, Bobot Lahir, Bobot Sapih

Abstract

Quantitative traits in sheep can provide an overview of livestock productivity in general, and can be used as a basis for selection in efforts to improve genetic quality. Research on “Identification of Chest Width, Hip Width, and Waist Height in Female Priangan Sheep” at the Satuan Pelaksana Pengembangan Perbibitan Ternak Domba Kambing (SP3TDK) Tambak Mekar, Subang Regency, West Java, was held on May 9th until May 13th 2022. The purpose of this study was to determine quantitative traits including chest width, hip width, and waist height in female Priangan Sheep. The method used is descriptive by conducting a census of female Priangan Sheep at SP3TDK Tambak Mekar, Subang Regency with the age group of 6 – 12 months, 12 – 24 months, and over 24 months. The results showed that the female Priangan Sheep in SP3TDK Tambak Mekar, Subang Regency 6 – 12 months of age had an average quantitative traits : chest width 11,00 ± 0,88 centimeter, hip width 11,00 ± 0,84 centimeter, and waist height 48,64 ± 3,45 centimeter; age 12 – 24 months had an average quantitative traits : chest width 13,34 ± 1,25 centimeter, hip width 13,57 ± 1,86 centimeter, and waist height 58,89 ± 4,27 centimeter; and age over 24 had an average quantitative traits : chest width 15,10 ± 1,27 centimeter, hip width 15,63 ± 2,23 centimeter, and waist height 63,29 ± 3,06 centimeter.
