Abstract

This study aims to examine the presuppositions in the speech of the characters in the short film Tilik by Bagus Martono, directed by Wahyu Agung Prasetyo. This short film is interesting to study because it depicts the daily communication practices of village communities that are full of gossip, social prejudice and stereotypes towards women. Presuppositions are an important part of pragmatic studies that contain shared knowledge between speakers and interlocutors. This study is relevant because presuppositions not only convey implicit meanings, but also reflect the values and social structures inherent in language. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach. The data source is the speech of the characters in the film Tilik, which is obtained through the Listening method with note-taking techniques. This technique is carried out by intensively listening to the film, noting all utterances containing presuppositions and transcribing them. The data are analyzed based on the classification of presuppositions according to Yule's theory (2006), which divides them into six types, namely 1). Existential presuppositions, 2). Factual presuppositions, 3). Non-factual presuppositions, 4). Lexical presuppositions, 5). Structural presupposition, 6). Counterfactual presupposition. Data analysis was conducted through interactive analysis techniques according to Miles and Huberman which include data reduction, data presentation and data verification or conclusions. The results of the study showed that there were 92 presupposition data consisting of existential presuppositions (15 data), factive presuppositions (24 data), lexical presuppositions (1 data), structural presuppositions (42 data), nonfactive presuppositions (8 data), counterfactual presuppositions (2 data). These findings indicate that the presuppositions in the short film Tilik not only build implicit meanings in the dialogue, but also reflect the social values and communication dynamics of the village community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui wujud, faktor dan dampak dari peristiwa tindak tutur langsung dan tidak langsung dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di SDN 3 Curugkembar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik simak catat dan voice record. Data dianalisis dengan berdasarkan teori dari Sumarlam, Pamungkas, dan Susanti (2017-2023). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam interaksi pembelajaran Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia di SDN 3 Curugkembar, jenis tindak tutur yang lebih sering dilakukan oleh guru kelas 1 ketika kegiatan pembelajaran adalah tindak tutur langsung. Dari hasil rekaman yang sudah peneliti dapatkan terkumpul 2 rekaman yang berisi tindak tutur langsung 80%. Faktor penyebab dari terjadinya perisitwa tuturan tersebut adalah perbedaan generasi, gaya berbahasa antara gen alpha dengan gen milenial adalah suatu hal yang menarik untuk dianalisis. Dampak yang didapat oleh siswa adalah mereka lebih mudak memahami jenis tuturan langsung karena penguasaan bahasa dan cara kerja otak merespon kalimat yang mereka dengar dan simak membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama, jadi sebagai guru beliau memilih untuk lebih banyak menggunakan tindak tutur langsung agar siswa dan siswinya dapat memahami materi yang beliau jelaskan.

Abstract

Salah satu kekhasan penulisan dari Sdavincii yang tidak hanya fokus pada unsur estitis dalam ceritanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis unsur referensi dalam novel Hilang Arah karya Sdavincii dengan menggunakan kajian pragmatik. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tehnik baca dan catat. Hasil analisis menampilkan adanya unsur referensi yang terbagi menjadi 2 jenis dalam penerapannya yaitu referensi eksofora dan referensi endofora. Referensi eksofora ditemukan sebanyak 31 data yang terdiri dari referensi eksofora persona sebanyak 23 data, referensi eksofora demonstratif sebanyak 5 data, dan referensi eksofora komparatif sebanyak 3 data. Referensi endofora terdapat sebanyak 8 data yang terbagi menjad referensi endofora anafora sebanyak 7 data, dan referensi endofora katafora sebanyak 1 data. Temuan hasil analisis tersebut membuktikan bahwa dalam novel Hilang Arah karya Sdavinci terdapat unsur referensi dengan makna yang tersamarkan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas bentuk dan fungsi tindak tutur ekspresif netizen pada komentar unggahan hasil pertandingan Indonesia melawan Australia di akun Instagram resmi @timnasindonesia. Kekalahan telak 1–5 yang terjadi setelah pergantian pelatih secara mendadak menjadi pemicu munculnya komentar emosional dari warganet. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan jenis tindak tutur ekspresif dan fungsi pragmatik yang muncul dalam komentar-komentar tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa simak bebas cakap, teknik lanjutan rekam, dan catat. Sampel data diambil secara purposive dari 100 komentar netizen yang mengandung ekspresi psikologis seperti pujian, sindiran, kemarahan, kritik, atau ucapan terima kasih. Analisis menggunakan teori tindak tutur ekspresif dari Searle dan fungsi ilokusi menurut Leech. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lima bentuk utama tindak tutur ekspresif, yaitu mengejek (38 data), memuji (33), menyalahkan (30), menghina (29), dan berterima kasih (3). Bentuk mengejek menjadi yang paling dominan dengan ciri sarkastik atau ironis yang diarahkan pada PSSI dan pelatih. Fungsi pragmatik yang paling menonjol adalah conflictive, terutama pada ujaran yang menyampaikan kritik, kemarahan, dan hinaan. Sementara itu, fungsi convivial muncul dalam tuturan yang menyemangati dan menunjukkan empati. Temuan ini memperlihatkan bahwa komentar warganet tidak hanya menyampaikan emosi pribadi, tetapi juga membentuk wacana publik tentang nasionalisme, kepercayaan pada otoritas, dan peran media sosial sebagai kanal kritik kolektif.

Abstract

This study aims to examine speech acts in advertising discourse on the Instagram account Gadaiku by Hartadinata Abasi using a qualitative approach. Amid the rapid development of the digital era, Instagram has become one of the main social media platforms facilitating interactive two-way communication, enabling users not only to receive information but also to respond, comment, and instantly share content. Various features such as Stories, Reels, and IGTV provide creative opportunities for businesses to reach a wide audience, especially in Indonesia, which had around 103 million active users at the beginning of 2025. The data collection techniques in this study include reading, non-participant observation, and note-taking on Instagram posts from the May 2025 edition. The analysis identified three types of speech acts: locutionary (9 data), illocutionary (15 data), and perlocutionary (9 data), totaling 33 data points. Locutionary acts are used to convey information literally and factually, such as explanations or direct statements. Illocutionary acts function to invite, motivate, advise, or offer solutions to influence the audience’s attitudes or behaviors, while perlocutionary acts aim to elicit certain effects or responses from the audience, such as encouraging real action, building trust, or creating emotional engagement. The findings of this study demonstrate that the speech act strategies employed in Instagram advertisements are effective in building persuasive and interactive communication with today's digital audience. The varied use of speech acts allows advertising messages to be not only informative but also capable of building emotional connections, motivating, and encouraging the audience to act according to marketing objectives. This marks a significant shift from traditional media to digital media, where interactivity, audience segmentation, and flexible content formats become key advantages in modern marketing communication strategies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan dalam versi bahasa Indonesia lagu "Chop Suey!" karya System of a Down, dengan membandingkan dua pendekatan penerjemahan yang diambil dari blog Cintya Maharani (interpretasilirik.com) dan Yoga (gimanacuk.com). Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana masing-masing penerjemah mempertahankan atau mengadaptasi makna emosional, kultural, dan simbolik yang terkandung dalam lirik aslinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik dokumentasi sebagai metode pengumpulan data. Sumber data terdiri atas lirik lagu asli dan dua versi terjemahan dalam bahasa Indonesia. Analisis dilakukan secara tekstual menggunakan teori strategi penerjemahan dari Vinay dan Darbelnet (1995), didukung oleh prosedur dari Newmark (1988) seperti transposisi, modulasi, adaptasi, dan peminjaman, serta prinsip skopos dari Nord (2018). Untuk meningkatkan validitas, dilakukan triangulasi teori dengan merujuk pada Hatim dan Munday (2019), Mu’in et al. (2024), dan Wilss (1996). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjemahan oleh Cintya Maharani lebih efektif dalam menyampaikan nuansa emosional dan kultural dibandingkan dengan terjemahan oleh Yoga yang cenderung literal. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada studi penerjemahan lirik lagu, khususnya dalam menunjukkan pentingnya keseimbangan antara kesetiaan makna dan kepekaan terhadap konteks budaya serta emosional dalam proses penerjemahan.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the conversational structure in the Close The Door podcast hosted by Deddy Corbuzier, particularly in the episode featuring Jerome Polin, using a pragmatic approach. The study highlights five key components of conversational structure as outlined by Yule (2006): turn-taking, pauses, overlaps (simultaneous speech), backchannels (listener responses), and adjacency pairs. The method employed is qualitative descriptive with the techniques of passive observation and note-taking. Data were collected through direct observation of the podcast episode and analyzed to identify elements of conversational structure that occur naturally in unscripted interaction. The analysis reveals that all five components are present in the episode, illustrating the dynamic nature of everyday conversation. Turn-taking and backchannels were the most prominent, reflecting collaboration and responsiveness between speaker and interlocutor. Pauses and overlaps appeared as expressions of spontaneity and reflection, while adjacency pairs emerged through question-answer patterns and natural responses.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication style of Dedy Mulyadi on his YouTube channel based on Leech’s politeness principles. The topic is significant as Dedy Mulyadi, a public figure, is known for his straightforward yet empathetic communication with the public. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, using utterances from selected YouTube videos as data. The analysis applies Leech’s six maxims of politeness: tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy. The findings reveal that Dedy Mulyadi’s communication reflects these politeness principles. He often demonstrates empathy, gives compliments, remains humble, and engages in courteous discussions. His communication not only effectively conveys messages but also fosters positive emotional connections with the community. These results indicate that politeness in language use can coexist with assertiveness in public communication. This study highlights the importance of linguistic ethics in fostering social harmony and trust, particularly in digital and public interaction spaces.

Abstract

This study departs from the assumption that film, as a representation of social reality, can serve as an object of pragmatic analysis, particularly in the study of deixis. The film Sayap-Sayap Patah, directed by Rudi Soedjarwo, was selected for its expressive utterances and because it has not been widely analyzed within linguistic studies. The objective of this research is to describe the types and forms of deixis used in the characters’ utterances. The investigation was carried out using a descriptive qualitative approach, employing observation methods and note-taking techniques. The data source consists of dialogues in the film that contain elements of personal, temporal, and spatial deixis. The data analysis technique used is the extralingual matching method, which connects language use with external contexts such as time, place, and participants. The analysis was conducted by examining each occurrence of deixis contextually within the dialogue, allowing for an in-depth understanding of its function and meaning in character interactions. The findings reveal that there are 18 deixis data found in the film, consisting of 9 personal deixis, 6 temporal deixis, and 3 spatial deixis.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the image of a mother is compared based on physical aspects, psychological aspects, and social aspects in poetry and song lyrics. The poem in question is "Pulang ke Dapur Ibu" by Aan Mansyur about how a mother becomes the safest and most comfortable place for a child to return to in the midst of the complexities of life that the child lives, while the song lyrics in question are "Bertaut" by Nadin Amizah about the closeness of a child to his mother in the context of childhood to adulthood. This study was conducted using qualitative methods, supported by data collection techniques in the form of observing and taking notes, as well as data analysis techniques in the form of qualitative analysis. The results of the study show that the image of a mother in the poem "Pulang ke Dapur Ibu" by Aan Mansyur shows: (1) physical aspects in the form of being old or old so that she cannot carry out daily activities as before; (2) psychological aspects in the form of always showing happiness in front of the child, hiding sadness and problems from the child; and giving full attention and affection to the child; and (3) social aspects in the form of carrying out the role of a parent, in the household, and in work. Meanwhile, the image of a mother in the lyrics of the song "Bertaut" by Nadin Amizah shows: (1) the physical aspect in the form of a strong and brave mother figure; (2) the psychological aspect in the form of how a mother becomes a figure who provides support and celebrates her child's success, the way she behaves which then builds attachment, and how a mother acts as a source of knowledge, answers, and experience for her child; and (3) the social aspect in the form of the mother's role as a parent.
