This research was carried out using a qualitative approach with a case study type, where data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The validity of the data is tested using source triangulation techniques, while data analysis is carried out through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that MTs Al-Mu'min Muhammadiyah Tembarak has developed student missionary competency standards and development strategies comprehensively, through an integrative approach between theory and practice. The competency standards developed include a correct understanding of religion which is internalized in the activities of the call to prayer, congregational prayer, cult, dawn lectures and teaching TPQ; be an MC at an event; have moral character; able to understand the internalized environment through being active in social activities; and self-control in the form of discipline as substantive competence. Furthermore, the ability to plan, implement and evaluate various designed activities becomes part of the methodological competence developed. The strategy for developing students' da'wah competence at MTs Al-Mu'min Muhammadiyah Tembarak is outlined in four forms of activities, namely presentation of da'wah fiqh subjects, muhadloron familiarization, micro teaching practice, and debriefing carried out before departure to the PDL location.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the differences and effectiveness of using nature-themed image media in poetry writing lessons among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Alasa, North Nias Regency, during the 2024-2025 academic year. The subjects of this study were 28 students. The experimental method with an experimental research design was applied. Data were collected through poetry writing tests and using analyzed statistical tests. The analysis results indicate a significant difference in poetry writing performance between students taught using nature-themed image media and those taught without it. The average score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, demonstrating that using nature-themed image media effectively improves students' poetry writing skills. Furthermore, this media aids students in developing their imagination and a deeper understanding of the given theme, leading to more creative and expressive writing outcomes. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers consider using nature-themed image media in poetry writing lessons to enhance student interest and skills. Visual media relevant to the lesson theme can serve as inspiration for students, improving the quality of their written work.

Abstract

The objective of this investigation is to examine the impact of project-based learning on secondary school students' collaborative abilities. This investigation utilizes qualitative research methods and a case study approach. To this end, data were collected via direct observations of students' interactions during the project, in-person interviews with students and teachers to gain insight into their experiences, and an analysis of documents such as project assignments, reports, and students' reflections. Findings from the study demonstrated that the integration of PBL led to substantial advancements in students' collaboration abilities. These enhancements can be categorized into three main aspects: communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. The analysis of communication skills revealed that students exhibited an improvement in conveying ideas and attending to others' opinions, indicating enhanced interactive processes. Furthermore, students displayed an enhancement in teamwork, which included effective task allocation and reciprocal assistance in accomplishing shared objectives. Additionally, problem-solving skills exhibited by students demonstrated a marked progression, with students attaining creative and innovative solutions through collaborative efforts. The findings of this study offer significant insights into the merits of incorporating project-based learning methodologies within the secondary school curriculum, with the aim of cultivating critical collaboration skills in students to equip them to confront challenges in their future educational and professional pursuits. The effective integration of this pedagogical approach necessitates comprehensive support from educators in their role as facilitators, along with students' readiness to engage in a more interactive and participatory learning process. Further exploration through research is warranted, focusing on the implementation of this pedagogical approach across diverse contexts and academic levels. Such inquiry would serve to enhance the comprehension and practical implementation of project-based learning strategies in cultivating students' collaborative skills.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) develop students’ speaking skills through storytelling and (2) determine whether storytelling can develop students’ speaking skills through storytelling. (3) To explain the process of developing speaking skills through storytelling. The population of the research was students of STITBA (Babussalam Tarbiyah High School) Southeast Aceh. The sample consisted of 33 students in the second semester. The samples were collected using purposive sampling. The research was a Research and Experimental Development (R&D), which was conducted by conducting two tests: pre-test and post-test. A Pre-test was given before implementing story “Malin Kundang”  while post-test was given after implementing story “ Putri Betung”. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used in this study. Data were analyzed using t-tests. After the data had been collected using the test, it was found that the pre-test average was 50,43 while the post-test was 78,14. There was a 15% improvement in the pre-test value. Thus, the authors concluded that there were improvements in the speaking skills of students through the storytelling technique. This can also be proved by comparing the result t observation (2,077) with t table (2,030) for alpha = 5%. This means that the hypothesis was supported.

Abstract

Cultural pluralism is the co-existence of subcultures with a dominant culture while maintaining their identity. India's higher education institutions offer a diverse learning environment due to this cultural pluralism, impacting student behavior based on their perceptions of these environments. Understanding students' perceptions of cultural pluralism is therefore crucial. This study aim to develop a scale to measure students' perceptions of cultural pluralism in higher education. Scale development involved item generation, expert validation, and pilot testing. The framework was drawn from Deardorff's Intercultural Competence Model (2006) and Chen and Starosta's Intercultural Communication Competence Model (1996). Initially, 128 items were generated, based on a literature review for content validity. The expert evaluation reduced these items to 47 items on a five-point Likert scale. Purposive sampling was used to select 152 undergraduate students from various departments at Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. The final scale had a three-factor structure with 21 items, validated through explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses. The scale proved reliable, with a Cronbach’s alpha of greater than .70. Overall, this study contributes to the existing knowledge by providing a comprehensive and empirically validated instrument for assessing students' perceptions of cultural pluralism within academic settings.

Abstract

Writing proficiency in English remains a significant challenge in the academic setting. This study explored how vocabulary knowledge mediates the relationship between Google Translate usage and writing proficiency. Mediation analysis was used to select 150 samples using a simple random sampling technique. The results revealed that the variable of interest did not significantly mediate the correlation between the predictive and criterion variables. This result challenged the proposition of the Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) framework. Further studies should explore other variables that mediate the link between Google Translate usage and writing proficiency. Additionally, educational institutions may introduce students to diverse technological tools to enhance their access to quality education, particularly in writing development.
