Abstract

Biobriquettes are solid fuels made from compressed organic residues with adhesives. Bottom ash, a byproduct of boiler combustion at PT Blang Ketumba, and young coconut solid waste both have high calorific value and can be utilized as bio briquettes. This study uses a mixture of young coconut waste and molasses adhesive. The research aims to assess the benefits of these materials in bio briquettes, analyze the composition of bottom ash and young coconut waste, and examine the impact of varying ratios of these materials with molasses adhesive. The biobriquette production process involves mixing bottom ash and coconut waste with 2%, 3%, and 4% molasses adhesive in ratios of 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, and 0:100. The resulting biobriquettes are evaluated for moisture, ash content, bulk density, combustion rate, and calorific value. The optimal biobriquette, with 25:75 bottom ash to coconut waste and 4% adhesive, showed 7.6% moisture, 5.9% ash, 14.76% volatiles, 71.74% fixed carbon, 1.74 g/cm³ density, 0.32 cal/sec combustion rate, and 5142 cal/g calorific value, meeting SNI 01-6235-2000 standards.

Abstract

Biopellets are an energy source derived from biomass that can serve as a substitute for fossil fuels. This study uses young coconut waste consisting of husks and shells and coconut shells as the main raw materials. This research aims to analyze the characteristics of bio pellets through proximate analysis, calorific value, density, and combustion rate tests. The bio-pellets are produced through a carbonization process using pine resin adhesive with varying raw material compositions of 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, and 0:100, and adhesive concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%—previous research combined coconut shells with instant coffee grounds to create bio-pellets. The results of this study indicate that the best bio-pellets are made from a mixture of young coconut waste and coconut shells with a 25:75 ratio and 30% adhesive concentration. These bio-pellets have a moisture content of 7.0%, ash content of 0.8%, volatile matter of 14.76%, fixed carbon of 76.96%, combustion rate of 0.028 g/min, density of 1.410%, and a calorific value of 7468.51 cal/g, meeting the SNI 8021-2014 standards.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the body parts of palm oil sorting workers that most often experience problems, as well as determining the need for work improvements in the sorting process. Apart from that, this research also aims to design a tool that can correct the operator's working posture, thereby reducing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. The research results showed that based on the Nordic Body Map questionnaire, the highest complaints of pain were reported in the waist with a percentage of 100%, while 66.6% of respondents reported pain in the back and left wrist. Analysis using the RULA method revealed that the three respondents obtained a final score of 7, which indicates a high level of risk and requires immediate action. Meanwhile, analysis using the REBA method shows that two workers have a final score of 8 (high risk) and one worker has a final score of 10 (very high risk), all of which require immediate action. After the proposed work posture improvements, the final REBA score decreased from 10 to 7, indicating a decrease in the risk level from high to moderate. However, the final score of RULA remained 7, indicating that improving the proposed posture did not change the final results of RULA. This conclusion emphasizes the importance of immediate treatment of unergonomic work postures to reduce musculoskeletal risks in palm oil sorting workers.

Abstract

In construction projects, inaccuracies in planning procedures often lead to failures or delays. Given the importance of timely project completion in the competitive construction service industry, the Critical Path Method (CPM) is recommended for scheduling. This method allows for highly detailed time planning by breaking down the work into small items, enabling accurate duration calculations for each activity. This study focuses on rescheduling the construction of the Preprocessing Building (steel structure) at PT. Putra Kuala Tanjung's project. By breaking down the work and performing forward and backward calculations, the author successfully determined the duration of each activity and identified critical tasks. As a result, the project duration was reduced from 252 working days to 156 days, demonstrating a time savings of 96 days.

Abstract

Motorcycles are a convenient mode of transportation for daily activities. The Giant Jaya Motor motorcycle repair shop, a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), operates in sales, repair services, maintenance, and spare parts supply. Efficient maintenance and repair services are crucial for smooth operations. The workload at the Giant Jaya Motor workshop is very high, and the operators often need more time to rest, leading to decreased performance and wasted time during services. This study aims to determine the standard time and workload of the operators using the Work Sampling method. This method, similar to a stopwatch time study, is classified as direct work observation because the measurement activities are carried out at the actual workplace being studied. The data processing results show that the standard time required to service one motorcycle is 26.34 minutes, with a working time percentage of 89.41%. It is recommended that the Giant Jaya Motor workshop organize a more efficient work schedule to provide sufficient rest time for operators to reduce fatigue and improve performance. Additionally, improving time management and providing training for operators can reduce time waste and increase overall productivity. Implementing more efficient technology or tools can also speed up maintenance and repair processes without compromising service quality.

Abstract

This electrolysis cell is used to convert sodium hydroxide into sodium chloride. This study aims to measure the voltage and DC passing through the cathode and anode plates during the electrolysis process. The power source used in this process provides a DC voltage of 70 volts, a DC of 8 A, and a resistance of 8.75 Ω. The sodium hydroxide solution can be transformed into sodium chloride at PT with this current and voltage. Toba Pulp Lestari Tbk, Porsea, is in the chemical plant unit, and this electrolysis cell operates optimally. It produces a significant amount of sodium chloride, used as a compound in making paper pulp. The analysis results indicate that the types of anode and cathode plates effectively conduct electricity in the electrolysis cell, aided by busbars as conductors.

Abstract

PKS PT. Torus Ganda Tambusai Timur, located in Tambusai Village, Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu Regency, is a palm oil factory that produces Crude Palm Oil (CPO) with a production capacity of 60 tons of FFB per hour. The processing processes at this PKS include weighing, boiling, pressing, pulverizing, refining, and extracting the core at PKS PT. East Tambusai Double Torus, the Sterilizer used is a Horizontal Sterilizer, which has an elongated cylinder shape and is positioned horizontally using lorry transportation to transport fresh fruit bunches. The boiling process uses saturated steam with a three-peak boiling system. This research aims to determine the efficiency of the hydraulic pump needed to move the actuator on the Sterilizer door at PT. East Tambusai Double Torus. The object of this research is the Horizontal Sterilizer at PKS PT. East Tambusai Double Torus focuses on determining the efficiency of the hydraulic pump needed to drive the actuator on the Sterilizer door and maintaining the hydraulic pump. The conclusion of this research shows that maintenance is essential in a factory because it helps manage company expenses. After observations and discussions, the efficiency of the hydraulic pump in moving the actuator on the sterilizer door was obtained at 86%.

Abstract

This research discusses the mini portable power spayer steam jet machine by testing it with a flow meter to find out the specifications. This machine is designed to be easily moved from one place to another. This machine has a pump that can create high water pressure. This steam jet machine can be operated using a DC motor. This machine is usually built with materials that are resistant to corrosion and durable for long-term use. To create a mini portable power spayer steam jet machine that has a simple, cheap, easy to operate and maintain system, this machine must be designed so that easy to move from one place to another, both indoors and outdoors, must be able to produce water vapor at a high enough pressure to clean dirt, the design must consider safety aspects to protect users from injury or potential danger, by designing the machine mini portable power spayer pump with dimensions that match those on the market, realized with real and existing designs and products, by testing with a flow meter, the test was carried out with a spray result of 6 liters/minute according to specifications. Making a design for a mini portable power spayer steam engine pump with an inventor that is realized is the same as choosing a product on the market. The process of testing the mini portable power spayer steam machine with a flow meter measuring tool produces a water jet pressure of 6 liters/minute, when tested with a flow meter spayer gun in a straight water jet pressure position.

Therefore, equipment The lifter is designed in such a way that it is able to withstand the maximum load at the time operated. In the lifting system on this mini forklift, a 12 volt battery is used provides supply to the linear actuator where the linear actuator will move or control system mechanism. In this study, a tool was used to control outward movement The entry actuator is a push button. Based on the results that have been obtained starting from planning to testing, obtained stable forklift results during lifting and carries loads with a maximum lifting capacity of 150 kg and a lifting height of 140 cm.

Abstract

PT. KPBN Belawan is a company branch entrusted as an agent for buying and selling CPO (Crude Palm Oil). PT. KPBN Belawan operates a tank storage unit that temporarily stores CPO before selling it to customers. Regular inspections are necessary for the storage tanks, such as checking the thickness of the tank plates and ensuring the strength of the locking mechanisms on the shell central hole to prevent leaks during filling. This research aims to calculate the dimensions of the bottom cover of the storage tank (central hole), which serves as a seal for the CPO in a storage tank with a capacity of 5,000 liters. The calculated dimensions for the shell central hole are as follows: the nominal diameter of the shell maintenance hole bolts is 17.5 mm, the flange width is 40.25 mm, the outer diameter of the flange shell maintenance hole is 913.6 mm, the bolt circle diameter of the flange shell central hole is 887 mm, the inner diameter of the flange shell central hole is 869.5 mm, the number of bolts is 24, the flange thickness is 18 mm, and the bolt spacing of the flange shell mainhole is 115.77 mm.
