Abstract

The research is aimed at designing a learning process that can stimulate the activity of students’ analytical thinking on the subject of the Curriculum of Indonesian Language and Literatures. The method used is research and development with 4D version. The result of the research is a learning model which is lesson study based focused on developing the concept of cooperative and scientific method, namely RISSCA (Reading, Identifying, Sequencing, Sharing, Communicating, Assessing). In this model, the materials chosen are systematically and procedurally arranged. On the subject of the Curriculum of Indonesian Language and Literatures, the materials that are suitable with this model are the understanding of the development of curriculum naming, core and basic competencies, the development of learning approach, syllabus compiling, the introduction of lesson planning, learning assessment of KTSP and the curriculum of 2013. The learning result achieved by implementing RISSCA is very good. The average score of each cycle reaches 72; 82,4; 84,3; and 87.

Abstract

The study is aimed at finding out a positive correlation between students’ intelligence and their achievement on civics. The research employed quantitative associative approach and correlation study. It was conducted in December 2014. The objects of the research were the students of class VA and VB of SD Negeri Ciomis 1 in the district of Ciomas, Bogor. There were totally 41 respondents. To validate the instrument for measuring interpersonal intelligence, Pearson Product Moment formula was used. To test the reliability of the instrument, Alpha Cronbach formula was employed. The data of students’ achievement were taken from their scores of the report. After being tested for its normality using liliefors, both of the sample groups are normally distributed since both of them have the score of L calculated of (0.1328) and Ltable of (0,1373) and when it was tested for homogeneity, the score was Fcalculated of (8,83) , Ftable (43,775). The hypothesis was tested by using the technique of simple regression analytical relation with Y= 66,51 + 0,13X which means that the correlation is significant. In the research, when there is one level increase of intrapersonal intelligence, then it will increase the students’ achievement on civics for 13 units. The simple correlation test shows that r = 0.89 which means that the correlation is very strong and the coefficient of determination is (r2) = 0.79 which means that the intrapersonal intelligence contributes as much as 79% on the students’ achievement on civics. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that there is a positive correlation between intrapersonal intelligence and students’ achievement on civics.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to improve students’ motivation through the use of window movie maker media in living things classification on natural science subject of class VII at SMP 1 Babakan Madang, Bogor. The research used classroom action research design. The data was collected from the students’ achievement and observation notes. Based on the three cycles of the research, it is found that the students’ motivation which was very low (14,92%) before the research (pre-cycle) improved into adequate in the first cycle (49,76%) and it got higher in the second cycle (65,23%) and finally it became excellent in the third cycle (89,15%). Based on the research, it is suggested that teachers use attractive and communicative learning media so that the students are motivated to use them as one of the source for learning, not only teachers.

Abstract

The research is quantitative associative research with correlation approach which includes natural intelligence as independent variable and students’ achievement as the dependent variable. The research is aimed at finding out positive correlation between students’ natural intelligence and their achievement on natural science subject. It was done in January 2015. The subjects of the research were students of class VA and VB of SD Negeri Empang. Bogor. The total respondents were 51 students. The data analysis used regression analytical technique and simple correlation which is represented by a regression equation of Y = -47 +0.49x meaning that the correlation is significant. The significance is shown by the correlation coefficient of r xy = 0.967 with determination coefficient of 0.94 or it can be stated that 94% students’ achievement on natural science is influenced by their natural intelligence.

Abstract

The research is a Classroom Action Research with the subject of 38 students of class XI IPA 4. The research is aimed at improving the learning outcome of biology subject with the implementation of scientific approach and Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research was conducted in two cycles. There were 4 steps in a cycle: planning, doing, observing, and reflecting. There was an evaluation after each cycle by using an instrument that had been validated and tested for its reliability and its difficulty level. The research result shows the scientific approach and Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can improve the learning outcome of biology subject. It can be seen from the average score of class XI IPA 4 which is 65,3 or 41% from 39 students. In the first cycle, it became 74,4 or about 61%. The average score improved in the second cycle into 86,2 with the completeness of 84% from 38 students. Besides cognitive, the learning outcome was also measured from affective and psychomotor sides. The research result shows that the average score of students’ affective in cycle I is 74,2 and cycle II is 84,2 while the average score of psychomotor aspect in cycle I is 74,3 and improved in cycle II into 80,4. Based on the result achieved, it can be inferred that the effort of improving the learning outcome of biology subject at the class of XI IPA 4 of SMA Negeri 10 Bogor using Scientific approach and Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is successful.

Abstract

The research is a classroom action which is aimed at improving the learning outcome of natural science subject with the research subjects of 42 students at class VIII-5. The research was done in two cycles. Each cycle has 4 steps, namely: planning, doing, observing, and reflecting. At the end of each cycle, there was a test with the instruments that had been validated and tested for its reliability. Based on the result of reflection of the previous year, the average score was 66,12 and the percentage of students achieving the score above the minimum was 45,24%. When Jigsaw model combined with the scientific approach were conducted, the average score and the percentage improved. At the first cycle, the average score of IPA subject with the aspect of cognitive reached 70,56 and the percentage of students getting the score above the minimum was 64,29% and at the second cycle, it improved into 75,32 and the achieving percentage was 80,95%. The learning result from the aspect of attitude was 61,90% the students got good category for the first cycle, while in the second cycle, the percentage of students getting good category 76,19%. The learning outcome from the aspect of skill reached 57,14% of students getting high category was. Second treatment at the first cycle was 61,90%, first treatment in the second cycle was 66,67%, second treatment in the second cycle was 76,19 and the third treatment in the second cycle was 78,57%, the students got high category. This result shows that the implementation of Jigsaw model with scientific approach can improve students’ learning outcome of natural science class at class VIII-5 SMP Negeri 2 Cicurug

Abstract

This paper is aimed to know the students’ difficulties in statistics especially in formulating experimental statistics data. Descriptive method is used to describe and analyze students’ barries in statistics. Students’ work as documentation, questionnaire and interview are used for collecting the data. The data from the documentation, questionnaire, and interview showed that the students have difficulties in the experimental data calculation. There are factors that cause their difficulties in experimental statistics data calculation. First, they seldom read experimental statistic data processing. Second, the experimental formula is more difficult from others statistic formulas. Many tables should be prepared, and taking the conclusion is also becoming students’ difficulties. To overcome these barriers, basic of math or statistics, the usage of suitable teaching method and technique are needed very much. It may change students’ behavior towards this material. Additionally, sharing to friends and students’ perception change will affect their confidence towards experimental statistics data calculation.

Abstract

The English learned by university students is supposed to be different from faculty to faculty or from study program to study program. The aim of the research is to describe English Language Teaching process in the Faculty of Science and Mathematics and the Faculty of Law.There are two research questions in this study: 1) What materials do the lecturers teach to the students in Faculty of Science and Math and Faculty of Law? Is it General English (GE) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP)? 2) What method do the lecturers use in teaching English to the students in Faculty of Science and Math and Faculty of Law? In conducting this research, descriptive method is used to portray the phenomenon factually. The data were obtained through interview, observation, and documentation. The research was conducted to the first semester students of Pharmacy Study Program, Computer Sciences Study Program, and first semester students of Faculty of Law. Three English lecturers were taken as the participants. Triangulation was used to check the validity of the data. As the result, the writer found out from the result of the interview, observation and documentation that the materials taught in Faculty of Science and Mathematics and Faculty of Law was English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Discussion and lecturing were the methods applied by the English lecturer in Faculty of Law. Presentation and discussion were applied by the English lecturers in Pharmacy Study Program and Computer Sciences Study Program.
