Conflicts of interest are the entry point for the abuse of power and corruption. The implementation of a manipulative ex-officio system that tends to perpetuate the oligarchy will cause a corrupt behavior in the governance of private higher education institutions. To date, studies on ex-officio related to higher education governance have never been discussed academically. The purpose of this study, thus, aims to criticize the application of ex-officio and its potential consequences in the supervision system at private higher education institutions. The study used a qualitative exploratory and the literature study was employed. The result reveals that the ex-officio is a legal model used in many higher education institutions. However, in its application it can lead to conflicts of interest and abuse of power which in turn has the potential of corrupt behavior university governance.

The research and development of Self Access Library for English Studets (SALE) is aimed at increasing the quality of educational tools as mandated by Permenristekdikti RI No. 44 2015 and its change Permenristekdikti RI No. 50 2018 about National Standard of Higher Education (SN Dikti). It is conducted based on the need of students of PBI IAIN Surakarta for comprehensive, accurate, easily accessible and inexpensive learning sources. Thus, SALE is initiated as an online library providing 126 English e-books classified based on the syllabus of PBI, covering the topics on English education, linguistics ang literature so the students can find appropriate learning sources easily. SALE also gives the students connections to some experts so they can meet virtual consultants or discussion partners to confirm their reading comprehension on the issues concerned. The research and development include some steps; observing potential problems, collecting data, designing SALE, validating the product by experts, first revision, small group trial, second revision, user trial, packaging, and final product. The score of validation by the experts and small group trial shows that SALE is categorized very good and eligible. It means SALE is ready to be an alternative learning source provider with qualified long distance service. The use of SALE by the students causes the improvement on students’ tasks quality as the result of an easy access to some important references appropriate with their majors. Therefore, SALE has become an evidence of the efforts to improve the quality of educational toools at IAIN Surakarta, particularly at PBI department

Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah upaya untuk meningkatkan partisipasi dan motivasi siswa dalam kegiatan membaca teks procedure dan report melalui metode Reciprocal Teaching. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang dikembangkan menjadi sebuah PTK (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas). Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 9 SMP Negeri 9 Satu Atap Praya Barat Daya. Kelas ini terdiri dari 4 (empat) siswa. Subjek dipilih berdasarkan observasi awal dan tes yang dilakukan oleh penulis pada awal penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa tersebut memiliki partisipasi dan motivasi yang rendah dalam kegiatan membaca, sehingga mempengaruhi pemahaman membaca mereka dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Tahap PTK dilakukan dalam dua siklus yang meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, refleksi dan revisi. Hasilna menunjukkan bahwa metode Reciprocal Teaching dapat meningkatkan partisipasi siswa terhadap kegiatan membaca pada siklus I (terjadi peningkatan 12%) dan siklus II (terjadi peningkatan 12%). Selain itu, motivasi siswa terhadap kegiatan membaca mereka juga meningkat pada siklus I (terjadi peningkatan 7%) dan bahkan peningkatan yang lebih tinggi pada siklus II (terjadi peningkatan 17%). Ini berarti bahwa metode ini terbukti dapat meningkatkan partisipasi siswa dalam kegiatan membaca mereka. Disamping itu, motivasi siswa meningkat dengan penerapan metode Reciprocal Teaching ini. Penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai referensi untuk melakukan penelitian yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan membaca atau metode pembelajaran Reciprocal Teaching kepada peneliti lain ataupun praktisi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris.

As the Balinese people of Bali Aga, the people of Tenganan Peringsingan custom village had a special characteristics and identities than Balinese people in common. One of them is having their own calendar system which is totally different with the Balinese people have in common. Beside calendar systems, another unique tradition they had was Matruna Nyoman. This tradition is initiation ceremony for adolescents who grow up to manhood. In the Matruna Nyoman process, the adolescents of Tenganan get their education of tradition with the hope to be able to control their self physically and mentally, so they can represent the characters of Hindu’s youth. In this writing, it was done the analysis based on the theory of religion stated by E. B. Tylor. According to him, the religiosity came from human being’s consciousness toward spiritual concepts. In the functional structural theory of Durhkeim, he stated that interpreting the whole societies in the function matter of the constituent elements, especially norms, customs, traditions, and institutions. The result of this research shows that each adolescent of Tenganan Pengringsingan is able to gather to a head their knowledge and skill, so they can do their social duties based on Awig-awig of Tenganan Peringsingan custom village.

This study aims for teacher pedagogical competence in planning the learning, learning processes, and increasing student motivation. To achieve this goal, this study used a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were done through interviews, observation, and documentation study. Data analysis procedures were data reduction, data display, and verification. While the research subjects were the principal, vice-principal, and teacher. The results showed that: (1) Teacher's pedagogical competence in planning the learning was done by making a draft lesson plan, but some teachers do not carry lesson plans during the teaching and learning process so that learning objectives are not achieved optimally; (2) Teacher's pedagogical competence in the learning process was carried out by exploring and strengthening several learning materials as contained in the textbook, while in the learning process there is poor classroom management and less disciplined use of time; and (3) Teacher pedagogical competence in increasing student learning motivation was done by giving opportunities to students to be actively involved in using information and communication technology facilities in achieving learning objectives, communicating effectively with students, and taking reflective actions to improve the quality of learning.

Hindu Education Institution is one of Education Institution which has responsibility in establishing and improving Hindu’s Human Resource quality to obtain competitiveness in facing globalization challenge. In the process of Hindu Education learning, still widely found the educator using Teacher-Centered Learning Approach which is makes students less actively involved in the learning process. This research aims to generate a synthesis concerning Hindu Education Learning management which can accomplish the qualification of graduate abilities which has been determined by the government. The study uses a qualitative research approach to the type of library research. The existence of Hindu education, in it’s role of engender the young Hindu generation who is ready to deal with global challenge, should be able to organize the process of debriefing with presenting education which integrate intellectuality, creativity, spirituality, and morality in its education system, and refer to the Hindu value with applying the Student-Centered Learning approach alongside learning management principal.

Tri Hita Karana at the elementary school environment is an effort in learning Hinduism to develop three aspects, namely cognitive, affective and psychomotor. Through religious education, Hindu Religion students are guided to always foster harmonious relations with God, others and the environment. Tri Hita Karana's teachings will be realized through balance in their implementation to maintain a harmonious relationship between humans and God, humans with each other, and humans with the natural environment. From preliminary observations, there are several types of violations or deviations of student behavior that are negative, including the behavior of students who are less obedient to the teacher, rebel or against the teacher's advice, students who are always joking when carrying out tri-sandya, some students who are less active in community service activities and have more chat or stay away when friends work together to clean up the school environment, and some students who seem to prefer littering in the classroom or the schoolyard.

The research intend to analysis and find out the application of hypnoteaching method increas of student learning activities in Hindu learning at SMAN 7 Denpasar which will be a hope in improve the quality of education. This study use qualitative research method whose research characteristic adjective in the focus of the research function to find hypotheses in certain cases or limited samples. Hypnoteacing method is part of the application of hypnotic science that can bring students to an atmosphere of relaxation in receive subject matter. The work system of hypnoteaching method is the teacher communicating to students' subconscious by change brain waves from beta to alpha. Hypnosis in learning is not a model of hypnosis that is perceived in television show hypnosis in learning is only try to build conducive and pleasant conditions in the learning process of students not made asleep. In alpha conditions, the concentration of students will be focused, when relaxed the learning process will become more meaningful. Hypnoteaching method is a learning that is suitable to be applied as the development of students' potential in modern times. It can be concluded that the implementation of hypnoteaching method at SMAN 7 Denpasar is very effective in increas student learning activity

This study aims to analyze the improvement of teacher professionalism to improve the quality of Hindu religious education through the effectiveness and creativity of interaction patterns in schools. School as a formal education is an institution that should shape students to be individuals with noble character. This educational institution should be able to equip its students with a variety of values, attitudes, and abilities and a strong enough basic skills as a basis for living a real-life in society. A high character person of Hindu religious education are carried out continuously at all levels of education. Hindu religious education can realize the goals of national education which is to develop the potential of students. Later on, there are expected to become human beings who believe in and fear God Almighty, have noble, healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, and be democratic and responsible citizens. Furthermore, the improvement of the quality of Hindu religious education must be implemented by increasing the effectiveness of learning interaction patterns at schools.

The study looked into the trends in the enrollment and graduation of educational management (EdM) students in a teacher education institution in Manila. Considering the challenges of graduate students who are also teachers or supervisors in their respective schools, it may be difficult for them to manage work and studies simultaneously which may lead to dropping from the course or unsuccessfully completing their masters and doctoral studies. Based on the data, it found out that enrollment in the master’s level decreased but is stable in the doctoral level in the last six academic years (2013-2014 to 2018-2019). In particular, there is a significant decrease in summer enrollment in both levels. There were more female than male students who enrolled in the program. In terms of successful completion, the number of graduates is significantly low and more female than male students graduated.
