At-Tarbawi: Academic Journal on Islamic Education Studies by Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty, Institut Agama Islam Negeri Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia This is an academic journal on Islamic Education Studies published twice a year. It contains articles from current research on Islamic Education field, including Islamic education, Arabic education, Islamic kindergarten teaching, Islamic elementary school teaching, Arabic language and literature, Islamic history and culture. At-Tarbawi invites scientists, academicians, researchers, and professionals in the discipline of Islamic education to submit their best manuscripts that correspond with the topics above. The background of this research werethe less satisfying result of the student achievements in PAI; the lack of students seriousness to plan their learning activities;and the lack of responsibility for addressing the problems of their studies. The purpose of this research was to find out: 1) the students’ learning independence 2) the PAI learning achievement, and 3) the relationship between students’ learning independence and PAI achievements of grade III students in SDN Panularan Surakarta academic year 2015/2016. This research employed correlational quantitative approach. It was carried out from May 2015 until June 2016 with a total sample of 33 students. Samples were determined using simple random sampling, and data were collected using questionnaireand test. There were only 30 out of 40 questions in the questionnaire and 26 out of 27 questions in the test declared as valid and reliable after thetrial. Hypothesis testing is performed with acorrelation of product moment. This study concluded that the students’ learning independence was categorized as moderate (64.7%) so was their PAI learning achievement (16.95%). It was also found that students’ learning independence and their achievement are positively correlated.Keywords: Study independence, PAI learning achievement, correlation of product moment.

This research was conducted to find the values of the character in curriculum based Humanistic. Humanistic curriculum is a model curriculum with emphasis on student-centered learning. By way of this curriculum, educationcan return to its original role and function, which is to increase human dignity and. The catagory ofthis research is leterary and took place in FITK (Faculty of Education), IAIN (State Islamic Institut). The data of research were handouts and reference books that used by lecturers of humanistic-based subjects. The results of this research are: 1) the majority of the subject materials based on humanistic in FITK contains muchcharacter values, such as: love peace, tolerance, empathy, solidarity, asceticism, sincere and so on; 3) in addition, character values are also internalized through a learning process; 3) The values of character that nothing comes from the teachings of Islam, philosophy and civilization of community.Keywords: Character Values, Humanistic Curriculum.

This is the experimental research to found the pattern of implementing by giving the pretest for the participants ofaction research teachers in the Training and Education before the implementation of training. The participants are given the knowledge that is related to the action research. The posttest is given after implementation of training as the last activity. Population and sample of this research are the teachers of The Islamic Religion Learning for Elementary School, Intermediate School, High School and Technical School in the Jepara Regency of Religion Ministry as partisipant, that is took by random. The result shown significant increase ofthe low criteria bythe pretest and postest from 9 (30 %) participants, became 0 (0 %) participants. For the medium criteria from 18 (60 %) participants, became 6 (20 %) participants, and for the high criteria from 3 (10 %) participants, became 24 (80 %) participants. This study concludes that according to data, the implementation of the Training and Education of action research in the Regency was able to improve the understanding to write about action research for teachers of Islamic Religion Learning.Keywords : Understanding, Action Research, Training

Islamic boarding school (pesantren) is regarded as an alternative education in the midst of formal education's weaknesses that is regulated by the government. In its growth to become an alternative education, the model of salafi (traditional) pesantren has been criticised for its identity loss when it is compromised with a matter called modernity. To answer the criticism addressed to pesantren as an alternative education, complex R2 Pondok Pesantren (Islamic boarding house) al Munawwir Krapyak Yogyakarta build a pesantren education based on salafi-khalafi (traditional-modern) model. This research focuses on pesantren education based on salafi-khalafi model which is built in Complex R2 that applies pesantren education consisting of basic values, boarding house, curriculum, and the used learning methods. The education built in complex R2 becomes an alternative choice for people who want to get an education based on salafi and khalafi pesantren model at the similar time.Islamic boarding school (pesantren) is regarded as an alternative education in the midst of formal education's weaknesses that is regulated by the government because it is able to provide an education for any circles of society and it is oriented toward scientific development, intellectual aptitude, and moral building.Keywords: Pesantren, Alternative Education, Salafi-Khalafi.

The research aims to report the improvement of the kindergarten students’ communication skill by implementing the chatting technique. This study is a collaborative action research. The subjects are group A kindergarten students at TK Aisyiyah 1 Sawahan. The data is collected by field notes then analyzed with comparative analysis and interactive techniques. Performance indicators for this research are the average child reaches the ability to communicate for (1) 50% in the first cycle, (2) 60% in the second cycle, and (3) 75% in the third cycle. This study was conducted in three cycles and each cycle consists of: (1) PlanÂning, (2) Acting, (3) Observing and (4) Reflecting.The result of this research indicated that chatting technique can improve the communication skill of group A kindergarten students in TK Aisyiyah 1 Sawahan, as teachers doing some reflections, the process of learning activities focused on students, and students were actively involved in the activities. The percentage of students communication skill before the action was less than 25%, the percentage of students' ability to communicate after the action on the first cycle increased to 43.75%, in the second cycle increased to 75%, in the third cycle increased to 93.75%.Keywords: chatting technique, communication skill, Group A kindergarten students

 Currently laboratory PGMI has not functioned optimally. Only IPA the most often use the laboratory to support the process learning. In management, there has been no guidelines for discharging PGMI laboratory. The purpose of this research to create the prototype of management guidelines laboratory PGMI as a source of learning IPA in the FITK IAIN Surakarta. This is a research and development study which comprises Borg and Gall steps: information collecting, planning, developing preliminary product, experts’ judgments, and revising the main product. This study has produced a prototype management guidelines PGMI laboratory of FITK IAIN Surakarta: (a) The average components of governance, documents, monitoring and evaluation possesses the criteria “important†to raised in management guidelines PGMI laboratory, (b) this prototype has a good validity construct, (c) Have enough reliability levels with value r of 0.533.Keywords: management, PGMI laboratory

This study is based on the phenomenon of the cases number of punishment  abuse in education. Punishment has become a favorite treatment chosen by teachers to control students, though not all educators choose it becomes habit. A discussion of punishment in order to educate the students, actually has been discussed several prominent Muslims and the West Islamic education Abdullah Nashih 'Ulwan, and  the leaders of Western education for example B.F. Skinner. The education of the two figures, the authors tried to find out his thoughts about punishment in education. Furthermore, the authors compare these thoughts to determine the location of the similarities and differences, as well as the benefits and drawbacks. The results of this research are: 1) The idea of punishment in education according to Abd. Nasih 'Ulwan more emphasis on the moral requirements, while Skinner put more emphasis on human behavior; 2) Abd. Nashih 'Ulwan and Skinner do not agree with the punishment. The difference lies in the application of punishment in education. If Abd. Nashih 'Ulwan apply affectionate and gentle, while Skinner apply the principle of prudence. Abstract: This study is aimed at: (1) describing the importance of multiple intelligences strategy in English learning and (2) describing the implementation of multiple intelligences strategy in English learning at SD Inklusi Semai Jepara. The writer uses Case Study method to describe deeply the implementation of multiple intelligences strategy in English learning at SD Inklusi Semai Jepara. Besides, the writer tries to find out the phenomenon in implementing of multiple intelligences strategy in English learning at SD Inklusi Semai Jepara.The findings of this study are: (1) The implementation of the MI method in SD Inklusi Semai Jepara has been starting since 2011; (2) the strategies that usually used in English learning are identification, clasification, song, games, simulation, and role play; (3)The contents of the lesson plan made by English teachers are identity, eksploration, elaboration, confirmation, MI strategy, and authentic assesment; (4) the supporting factors in implementing of multiple intelligences strategy in English learning at SD Inklusi Semai Jepara are from teachers, students, and parents; (5)the inhibiting factor  in implementing of MI strategy in English learning at SD Inklusi Semai Jepara is the limited time for teachers in preparing all of the class administrations.  Keywords: Multiple intelligences strategies, English for young learner, Case study

Abstract: Language Development Center (PPB) IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon is one of the Technical Implementation Unit of higher education related to intensive English and Arabic development program. All students from semester one to four must follow and graduate on this program. Assessment of the implementation of this program based on student perceptions of 100 samples is an evaluative study conducted by researchers. Using a questionnaire as a research instrument, it contains input, process, output, lecturers and staff indicators in the learning process. From the research results obtained conclusion that the assessment of the implementation of language intensive program on PPB IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon based on students' perceptions goes pretty well. Most of the students considered that the lecturers of PPB had prepared the teaching well, mastered the taught material, and the exam questions were in accordance with the taught material. Some things that need to be improved are intensive course lectures held on Saturday Sunday, late module distribution, team teaching implementation that has not been optimal, and poor lecturer behavior. Keywords: Language intensive program, Perception

The aims of the research are 1) to know the students attitudes who join teenager religious meeting program to the, 2) to know the students attitudes who do not join teenager religious meeting program to the teachers, 3) to know the influences of teenager religious meeting program to the students’ attitude to the teachers.The methods of this research are quantitative ex-post facto. The research is held at SMP Negeri 2 Gemolong Sragen in August 2015 up to January 2016. The population of this research is 190 students of the seventh and eighth grades. The sample is 148 students of the seventh and eighth grades. The data is analyzed by using normality test requirement by using chi quadrat formula, and hypothesis by using uji-t formula. We can conclude that 1) the students’ attitude who join religious meeting program for teenager to the teachers is at medium category which are 40 students, 2) the students’ attitude who do not join religious meeting program for teenager to the teachers is at medium category which are 108 students,3) the result of comparative analysis uji-t formula shows that the value of (thitung 11,588 > ttabel 1.960) which has significant level 5%, therefore there are influences of religious meeting program for teenager to the teachers.Keyword: religious meeting program for teenager, student's attitude to teachers
