Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the moral values representing the educational values presented in the film "The Pursuit of Happyness." The research design employed qualitative descriptives to examine the movie and its script, focusing on scenes and visuals depicting educational values. By observing the protagonist's utterances and actions, the moral values as explained by Linda and Eyre were analyzed. The results of this research revealed five of the six moral values of being, namely honesty (observed in two scenes), courage (manifested in three scenes), peace (seen in four scenes), independence and potential (highlighted in three scenes), and self-discipline and moderation (illustrated in two scenes). These findings provided a valuable resource for students of English education and suggested "The Pursuit of Happyness" as an interesting option for inclusion in educational curricula. The identified moral values could be integrated into teaching and learning, offering teachers a dynamic tool to foster character development. In conclusion, this research underlined the potential of film as a powerful medium for instilling positive values and character. By embracing the moral values embedded in cinematic narratives, educators could contribute to the holistic development of students, emphasizing the important role of character education in forming responsible and moral individuals.

Abstract

Character education has been carried out for a long time, but over time it has been eroded by modernization. Morals are provisions for developing oneself. Moral problems are problems that concern humans everywhere, both in advanced societies and in underdeveloped societies. This is because one person's moral damage disturbs the peace of others. The aim of this research is to determine moral education and individual character based on Emile Durkheim's theory of social facts. The research method used is a qualitative method and the data collection technique is using library research. The results of this research show that Durkheim suggested that social research, including educational research, should be carried out based on empirical standards, with social facts as the main focus. Durkheim believed that morality is the result of social interaction between individuals and collective consciousness. Character education is education that develops good character.

Abstract

Joy is a motivational movie that can inspire the audience to work hard and achieve their dreams. This research aims to analyze the intrinsic motivation of the main character in the movie, employing a descriptive-qualitative design. According to the Basic Psychology Needs Theory used in this research, intrinsic motivation is driven by three basic psychological needs: autonomy (the need to control one's own experiences and actions), competence (the need to feel effective and masterful), and relatedness (the need to feel belonging and socially connected). This research is conducted by identifying all three basic psychological needs reflected in the utterances of the main character. Using the movie and its script as primary data sources, the study employs a document analysis technique to collect the data, with an observation table as a tool for data collection and a content analysis method to interpret the data. The findings show that the main character's intrinsic motivation is certainly driven by basic psychological needs. It is revealed that the main character’s intrinsic motivation is mostly driven by the need for competence, followed by autonomy and relatedness. This research not only contributes to the understanding of basic psychological needs but also their impact on intrinsic motivation, driving individuals to accomplish their goal.

Abstract

Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is a complication of Diabetes Mellitus which occurs due to high blood sugar levels. Treatment for DFU can involve treating pressure sores and mobility exercises and using herbal dressings such as honey and aloe vera extracts. This study aims to analyze the effect of wound care using honey and aloe vera extract on DFU wounds. This research design uses pre-experimental. Data collection used the Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool (BWAT) questionnaire. Analysis used Paired Test. The population used patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) and a sample of 17 respondents was obtained. The results of the study showed that before the wound was treated, the condition of the wound was in the non-regenerating category. After the wound was treated and evaluated, the mean value decreased from previously 25.24 to 16.76. The Paired Test results obtained a Sig value (2-tailed)=0.000 which means it is smaller than α 0.05, thus H1 is accepted. The percentage of influence on wound development was 82.4% indicating that there was regeneration in the wound and 17.6% did not regenerate.

Abstract

The conflict between reason and faith in understanding the universe's origins has been the subject of long-standing debate in various religious and scientific communities. This article undergoes an in-depth analysis of the two main views that define different views of the creation of the universe: creation theory and evolutionary theory. The first approach, which is based on creation theory, asserts that the universe was created by God in accordance with sacred texts, such as the Book of Genesis in the Bible. This view emphasizes the role of faith and religious beliefs in describing the universe's origins. This view interacts with modern scientific discoveries and how potential conflicts between religious beliefs and scientific evidence can be resolved. On the other hand, the evolutionary view relies on the origins of the universe on an ongoing evolutionary process, based on ever-growing scientific evidence. The theory of evolution views the creation of the universe as a process that took place over millions of years through biological and physical evolution. This concept influences religious views and how efforts are made to ease tensions between scientific views and religious faith.

Abstract

The literature recognizes the importance of parenting and its impact on children's academic achievement at school. Many factors influence children's academic achievement, and parenting patterns and gender are significant factors that influence children's academic achievement outcomes at school. However, few studies still discuss the relationship between parenting and children's educational achievement outcomes based on gender. This study used a systematic literature review method. This study used three databases (Google Scholar, JSTOR, and Springer Link). The results of this study show that, based on authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful parenting, authoritative parenting is the most effective parenting method in improving children's academic achievement, both girls and boys. In addition, with authoritative parenting, children can have good social and emotional skills.
