Abstract

Kata kunci: Rumah Ibadat, Gereja Kristen Songka, Gereja Toraja,  PBM No 8 dan 9 tahun 2006.

Abstract

The rice plant for Indonesia, especially in Lombok, is considered unique, not only as a production crop but also as a sacred plant. From the process of planting to harvesting, this plant is treated specially with rituals with religious nuances. This study aims to describe the socio-cultural symptoms of local rice domestication rituals among traditional farmers in Lombok. Based on this description, it is hoped that the views, knowledge, values, and rules will become the reference for the behavior of the rural Sasak people as growers of local rice types. The approach used to achieve this goal is a phenomenological approach. Primary data of this study were obtained through in-depth interviews (structured and non-structured to informants) and participatory observation. The results showed that the local rice domestication ritual is a form of awareness of the cultural-religious views of the local community by combining local knowledge and religious knowledge (Sufistic teachings, as represented in the mantra of planting rice and the concept of pare anak iwoq or orphan rice in pare pemol  or rice starter/marker) as a manifestation of the awareness of the Supreme Being and the cosmos. This awareness of the Supreme Being and the universe becomes a reference for local farmers in their behavior, especially in agriculture. With these two types of consciousness, they are guided and directed toward safety, security, and balance.

Abstract

Monotheistic religions including Islam are often accused as the main supporter of anthropocentrism that is not friendly toward environment. This is because monotheistic religions give more priority toward human beings who are placed at higher level than other creatures. Monotheistic religions mention that environment is created for supporting human’s life; therefore this notion encourages people to exploit natural resources. This study aims to expose the concept of environmental nurture from Islamic perspective. This research employs thematic-contextual analyses approach to examine Qur’anic verses. The Qur’an verses related to cosmic and human beings with environment were collected and systematized. Then, it is described the views on the ethical Islam regarding the environment as the basis of environmental ethic. Results of this study rebutted the accuse and stigmatization on religion as the supporter of anthropocentrically ethic, and it completes the approach on the environmental management that have already been known in the study of environment, namely arranging and watching approach, economical environment approach, and especially a voluntary arranged approach.

Abstract

Virtualization enables the magical to be imagined and seen through social media. Om Hao and the crew from Kisah Tanah Jawa (the Tale of the Land of Java) can make retrocognition-magic as a show by using a realist narrative that allows viewers to have the sensation of an unseen 'presence'. Therefore, this paper aims to explore Om Hao's retrocognition-magic virtualization and the narratives that operate within it. To complete this objective, the netnographic method was used in the form of online observation and videography on Kisah Tanah Jawa youtube. This study has resulted that: first, retrocognition virtuality is performed through new media technology devices that are able to visualize event actors and bring them closer and real to their viewers; Second, Om Hao's retrocognition-magic virtuality becomes extra textual which builds the interaction between the magic and the actual in social media where both of them become the power of the narrative that contains the magic appearing and thought of; third, Virtuality magic appears actual because it is supported by Om Hao's narrative that sounds rational, objective and neutral. All the three are strengthened because they are relevant to the historical experience, stories, and mystical beliefs of the Javanese people as a socio-cultural context. As a product of postmodern culture, Om Hao's retrocognition-magic virtualization is seemingly able to present a divergent fantasy of alternative "truth" of history of the land of Java.

Abstract

Madrasah is a formal educational institution that provides education with the uniqueness of the Islamic religion. The condition of the madrasah environment, which is homogeneous and monoculture in terms of religion, impacts student attitudes concerning religious believers' relationship. The interactions that occur in the madrasah environment almost always involve social structures that tend to be homogeneous. This study examines the scholars' tolerance to religious believers' relationship among Madrasah Aliyah students in Kendal Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with data collection methods through questionnaires. The results showed that most of the students of Madrasah Aliyah in Kendal (74.15%) had an attitude of tolerance among religious believers in the "tolerant" category. Likewise, if seen from the three indicators of tolerance, most students have an attitude of acceptance, respect, and mutual respect between religious believers in the "good" category. However, this also shows that Madrasah Aliyah students have tolerance among religious believers in the "less tolerant" category up to 23.58%. It shows that there is potential for the intolerance of Madrasah Aliyah students in relationships between religious believers. This condition needs to be the concern of madrasah education providers to further develop tolerance education in the madrasah environment.

Abstract

Javanese manuscripts consist of Islamic teaching which are told as stories. One of those manuscripts is Serat Jasmaningrat kept in Kawedanan Ageng Punakawan Widya Budaya Yogyakarta palace. The plot and figures in the story are ways to explain religious concepts such as syari’at, tarekat, hakikat and makrifat. Those concepts are explained in the manuscript as a name of person like Ki Sarengat, Ki Tarekat, Ki Hakekat, and Ki Makrifat. There are other figures as personification of other spiritual concepts such as Ki Duhur, Ki Asyar, Ki Maghrib, Ki Isya, Ki Subuh, and Minalwitri, Ki Kalbu, Ki Jiwa, Ki Pramana, Ki Budi, Ki Panrima, Ki Tapsila, Ki Eling and so forth. This research uses content analysis in order to discover religious meaning in Serat Jasmaningrat manuscript. Results of the study show that the manuscript tells about the story of the journey of four people namely Ki Sarengat, Ki Tarekat, Ki Hakekat, and Ki Makrifat who went to the king at a palace. But, this story is actually telling about Sufism and the level of human being in relation with God. Hence, in the essence, the story is about Islamic Sufism.

Abstract

Abstract

The Chinese ethnic group is recognized as one of Indonesia's ethnic groups, and even the Confucian religion is accommodated and served by the state. However, some people often question the Indonesian nationalism of the Chinese ethnic groups. This study aims to examine the national insight of the Chinese Confucians in the context of religious education services at the Litang institution. This research uses a qualitative study, with a case study approach to Litang Cibinong Bogor, West Java. Data collection was carried out by conducting visitations, in-depth interviews and literature reviews. This study found that Confucians felt that they had a higher sense of nationalism compared to Chinese ethnic groups outside of Confucianism. However, they admit that nationality material has not been included in their religious education curriculum design. It is due to the presence of religion and religious, educational institutions that are still new. They are more preoccupied with various problems in Religious Education services that are still far from standards, such as regulatory issues, human resources, and lack of services. Government intervention to give equal attention to all religious adherents will develop Indonesian-minded religious education for Confucians in the future.
