Abstract

Although Hadith is one of the main sources of Islamic teachings but the science of Hadith has received less attention from scholars who concern on Islamic studies in Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI) in Indonesia. This can be seen from the lack of research on Hadith manuscripts. This study is intended to fill the gap and aims at mapping the theme and pattern of writing of Hadith manuscripts founded in the collection of the National Library of Republic of Indonesia. Of the 32 Hadith manuscripts, only 11 have been studied. The method used refers to the codicology and theory of ilmu Fahrah al-Ḥadīṡ. The findings of this study are that 1) it is assumed, from the theme mapping, that those Hadith manuscripts are summaries of the main Hadith books, whose content is related to the problem of the occult, the Prophet’s moral (akhlaq), virtues of deeds (fadhilat al-a’mal), encouragement of good (targhib) and discouragement of evil (tarhib). Another finding is 2) in terms of the writing pattern of Hadith, based on the knowledge of Fahrah al-Ḥadīṡ, there are 8 patterns of writing of the Hadith based on Hadith manuscripts examined, namely the writing pattern of al-Muʻjam, Arbaʻīnāt, Taʻāliq, Ṡulāsiyyāt, Takhrīj, al-Mukhtaṣarāt, Syaraḥ Ḥadīṡ, and Ḥadīṡ Masyḥūr.

Abstract

The development of the era that resulted in to an era of disruption encourages changes in educational activities. It triggers new problems in educational ethics, including the ethics of teachers and students. The ethical constructions of teachers and students that have been formulated by scholars and education experts are by the conditions of their time. One of the scholars who laid the foundations for teachers and students' ethics was Zainuddin bin Nuruddin 'Ali bin Ahmad Al-'Amili Al-Juba'i or also known as Al-'Amili. This study aims to interpret the actualization of the ethics of teachers and students of Al-'Amili in the context of the era of disruption. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach, namely the library research method with the primary data source of the book Munyah al-Murīd fī Adab al-Mufīd wa al-Mustafīd by Al-'Amili. The analysis was performed using Content Analysis techniques. This study found that teacher and student ethics can apply in general, namely that teachers and students have their own ethics in the educational process. The thought of Al-'Amili is universal so that it can be actualized in the present. In an era of disruption where values are uprooted and replaced by new values, the role of ethics becomes important to underlie teachers' and students' activities in learning. One of them is the ethical model of the relationship between teacher and student as an educational relationship that is Sufistic by highlighting the characteristics of holiness in learning.

Abstract

A religious group called Pasujudan Santri Luwung Padepokan Bumi Arum in Sragen district has created problems in the surrounding Muslim community. This is because their teaching was considered as deviance from Islamic teaching generally. Apart from this polemic, the existence of new religious group has attracted some people to follow and enroll in this Santri Luwung group. This is a qualitative research focusing on the phenomena of religious life especially new religious group or it is named as religious movement. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentary study. Data was analyzed using interactive analysis. This study depicts that the teaching of Padepokan Santri Luwung is an acquaintance between Islam and Kejawen (Javanese teaching). This can be recognized as a new religious movement. It can give social nuance to the follower of Santri Luwung; they get the teaching from various activities such as dakwah, social, education, health program, economy and art program.

Abstract

Daar el-Qolam Islamic Boarding School is one of the relatively large Islamic boarding schools with more than a thousand students, and located in the red zone or at high risk of spreading Covid-19. This paper examines how the Daar el-Qolam responds to various government policies related to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as adaptation strategies undertaken in the face of the pandemic. The research was conducted in June 2020 using a qualitative approach. The results show that Daar el-Qolam conforms in responding to various government policies related to the pandemic. When the government issued a new policy, Daar el-Qolam tried to follow the policy even though he had to change the existing policy or system. One of them is by repatriating students and stopping all activities at the boarding school. Thus, Daar el-Qolam's conformity can be seen from its efforts to always be in harmony and in accordance with group norms, which in this case is government policy. Meanwhile, the adaptations made by Daar el-Qolam are autoplastic and alloplastic. Autoplastic is carried out when Daar el-Qolam changes various internal policies to adapt to pandemic conditions, such as sending students home prematurely, conducting online learning, and providing facilities that comply with health protocols. Meanwhile, alloplastic is carried out when Daar el-Qolam changes the environment to suit the desired conditions, such as re-activating Islamic boarding school activities but with various changes in the learning process, santri lifestyle, and social and religious behaviour.

Abstract

Serat Maulud Zikir is a work of Islamic literature containing the greatness of God by presenting miracles at the time of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, until he became an apostle (rasul). In addition, Serat Zikir Maulud also reveals the exemplary of the prophet with elements of faith, morals, and practices and its relevance in the present day. This study tries to reveal the values content in Serat Zikir Maulud and how the birth of the prophet has inspired the living traditions in society. This study is library research by collecting books related to the topic. The findings of research are the content of Serat Maulud Zikir containing a moral message and noble values which benefit for the life of society today. God has planned everything so that the presence of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Jahiliyyah (ignorance) society was actually to remind people to get closer and worship to God. The event of the prophet’s birth was commemorated in various places and called the celebration of Maulud Nabi. In Yogyakarta and Surakarta palace, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is commemorated with Sekaten traditional ceremony which is held every year.

Abstract

The development of information technology has not only brought positive values   in communication behavior but also a negative impact on digital literacy such as the spread of hoaxes, terrorism, and cyberbullying. Youth group is the most vulnerable group exposed to the bad influence of digital media. This paper presents the result of research on the religious digital literacy of religious organizations activism at the state Islamic senior high school (MAN) in Bandung. This study aims at knowing the digital literacy ability of religious organization activism at these schools in Bandung. This research is a quantitative study which uses questionnaire as a method of collecting data. The findings of this study show that the digital literacy of religious organization activism at the state Islamic senior high school (MAN) in Bandung is at the level of finding, using, and disseminating obtained religious information accessed through websites for the purpose of preaching. Social media is a digital platform often accessed and preferred by students instead of general and religious knowledge websites. Motivation of students in choosing these websites is because they like to search information as entertainment, easiness to visit, lots of choices, interesting languages, images and illustrations.

Abstract

Artikel ini merupakan ringkasan hasil penelitian terhadap pemikiran KH. Ahmad Syakir dari Lasem Kabupaten Rembang. Salah satu buah pemikiran beliau adalah Kitab al-Hikmah yang menggunakan aksara Pegon dan bahasa Jawa Krama Madya. Penggunaan aksara dan bahasa tersebut menunjukkan nilai lokalitas ulama Jawa dalam mendakwahkan ajaran Islam sesuai dengan masyarakat yang dihadapinya. Selain itu, kitab tersebut disusun berdasarkan permintaan umat, masyarakat sekitar (Lasem-Rembang) yang masih tergolong awam tentang hukum Islam, khususnya masalah  taharah  (bersuci).  Oleh  sebab  itu,  dalam  kitab  tersebut  contoh-contoh yang diberikan adalah masalah sehari-hari yang dihadapi masyarakat Lasem dan sekitarnya.  Pendekatan  sejarah  digunakan  untuk  mengungkap  biografi  penulis kitab dan latar sosial budayanya, sedangkan untuk menganalisis data penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis. Adapun hasil dari penelitian tersebut menunjukkan  pemikiran  ulama  Jawa  yang  sudah  maju.  Beberapa  persoalan hukum Islam yang berkaitan dengan ilmu kedokteran atau medis modern dibahas dalam Kitab al-Hikmah. Pembahasan mengenai tahi lalat buatan (seperti tato), menggunakan rambut palsu (terbuat dari rambut manusia, binatang, atau sintetis), transfusi darah, alkohol dengan berbagai macam jenis dan hukumnya, bank ASI (air susu ibu), semua dibahas berdasarkan kaidah fikih dan pertimbangan-pertimbangan medis bagi masyarakat modern sekarang ini.Kata kunci: Kitab al-Hikmah, lokalitas, kontemporer, fikih

Abstract

During the classical period, Islamic education in the Indonesian archipelago (Nusantara) could not be separated from the literature used. One of the earliest pieces of literature that have been used in the Nusantara since the 16th century AD is Asmarakandi book by Abū al-Laiṡ as-Samarqandī. This research aims to explain the significance and characteristics of the Asmakarakandi book related to its function as a learning resource and its implications for the implementation of early Islamic education in the Nusantara. This research is a literature review using the integration-interconnection scientific paradigm, namely the historical approach in Islamic studies. This research finds that the Asmarakandi book is a popular basic level of Islamic education learning resource used by Muslim communities from different socio-cultural backgrounds. The distinctive format of the Asmarakandi book also shows implications regarding its function as a learning resource for Islamic education. First, the used of the Asmarakandi book makes Islamic education take place systematically, effectively, and efficiently. Second, the suitability of the material with the level of religious understanding of the early Muslim community in the Nusantara. Third, the dialogue-based book format can encourage the critical power of the reviewers. Furthermore, fourth, the transformation of the book into local texts helps the general public understand the content of the Asmarakandi book.

Abstract

The concepts of Islamic education in Indonesia are still little developed in the discussion of educational theories. One concept that has not paid much attention yet is transformative Islamic education. This study aims to identify the locus of Transformative Islamic Education (PIT) in the thought currents of contemporary Indonesian Islamic education, and compose Moeslim Abdurrahman’s ideas sketch on it based on the education system. It uses qualitative research and literature data analyzed by content analysis. The findings of this study are that the transformative tendency arises from the essential-traditionalist and progressive-modernist who call for the transformation of social life as a whole. Thus, the goal of this transformative Islamic education is to create critical and dialogical learners who are actively involved in the process of social transformation as the task of the caliphate.

Abstract

Local wisdom has values that often become the source of norms formation for people's life. Among them is the tradition of Labuhan Gunung Kombang in Malang. This study intended to reveal the Labuhan Gunung Kombang's local wisdom that grows and develops in harmony with Islamic values in Kedungsalam Village, Donomulyo, Malang. This is a descriptive qualitative research by employing ethnographic methods. Data were collected through observations, interviews and documentations to produce detailed and comprehensive accounts of different cultural and social phenomena. The result of study showed that local wisdom of Labuhan Gunung Kombang tradition has values of religion, togetherness, deliberation and mutual cooperation that are in line with Islamic teachings. Islam as a religion with a set of values and norms has influenced the patterns of culture and traditions for Kedungsalam people. However, the encounter of Islamic values and local wisdom in Labuhan Gunung Kombang ceremony is usually perceived as the process of cultural acculturation. It makes socio-cultural aspects of the local people not necessarily eroded by Islam.
