Abstract

This study aims to improve agropreneurship-based entrepreneurial literacy for Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) women in Bulujaya Village, Jeneponto Regency through training in processing corn into value-added products. The background of the study is based on the low entrepreneurial literacy of rural women, especially in aspects of business management, marketing, and the use of digital technology. This study used the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects were PKK women who were active in organizational activities, had an interest in entrepreneurship, and were willing to participate in the training program. Data were collected through observation, in- depth interviews, FGDs, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in the participants' entrepreneurial literacy after the training, as evidenced by a comparison of pre- test and post-test results. Participants were able to understand the concept of entrepreneurship more professionally, including in managerial, financial, and marketing aspects. In terms of technical skills, participants successfully processed corn into popcorn with various flavors and attractive packaging, thereby increasing the added value of local products. In addition, there was an increase in digital literacy, where PKK women began to utilize social media as a means of product promotion. This training also has social and economic impacts, including increased self-confidence, group solidarity, and the emergence of additional family income, even on a small scale. Thus, agropreneur-based entrepreneurial literacy training has proven effective in empowering women, strengthening family economic resilience, and encouraging the development of local potential in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Karang Pucung Village, located in the lowlands of Purbalingga Regency, has great potential for fruit and vegetable farming. Agricultural innovation has been developed by millennial farmers, especially in melon cultivation. Since 2015, farmers organized under the ARTANSI CANDRA KAHURIPAN Tourism Awareness Group (POKDARWIS) have cultivated melons using hydroponic methods. This initiative responds to the increasing national demand for fruits and vegetables and growing health awareness. However, the main problems faced by partners include a lack of knowledge in agricultural product processing, packaging, and marketing. These limitations hinder the optimal utilization of melon harvests. Additionally, partners struggle with online marketing and bookkeeping. Proper accounting is essential for running a sustainable business, yet partners have not implemented systematic and detailed financial recording either manually or digitally. To address these issues, participatory training and mentoring methods are proposed. This approach involves partners directly in each step of the process, including problem identification, analysis of possible actions, action planning, and implementation. This “bottom-up” method ensures that the actions taken are appropriate, targeted, and practical for addressing real problems faced by the community. The result of this community service activity is the ability of local farmers to process melons into melon chips, a product with market potential at both the local and national levels. Through this approach, the community not only enhances its economic value but also strengthens its business practices in packaging, marketing, and financial management, promoting sustainability and independence in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

The main goal of this community service program targets the enhancement of English language abilities among Pinrang Regency's elementary school teaching staff through training methods based on communication. Intensive one-week training under this program implements practice-focused training methods through storytelling sessions, role-play activities and digital media applications. The program conducts a competence evaluation for teachers before implementing training programs meant to enhance their speech proficiency and interactive English teaching techniques. The training data reveals higher English usage motivation and consciousness among teachers yet multiple learning execution obstacles persist. Three key challenges emerge from teachers' restricted language skills and insufficient social contact with the English language and their lack of practical experience with classroom interactive teaching methods. The utilization obstacles of technology along with lack of support within the professional community work as important factors which diminish the effectiveness of this training approach. A lasting solution is necessary to enhance the English teaching capabilities of elementary teachers according to the findings of this program. Follow-up sessions and mentoring along with developing a professional community need to support the delivery of effective teaching methods which start from short-term training. Bilingual pedagogy strategies enable teachers to implement English gradually during their lessons. Participation from different organizations would enable improved English teaching quality at elementary schools to operate at its best potential.

Abstract

This research explores the qathi and zhanni approaches in understanding the texts of the Qur’an and Hadith as the primary sources of Islamic law. Qathi refers to texts with definitive authenticity and meaning, while zhanni pertains to texts that are speculative or open to interpretation. The distinction between the two has significant implications in legal reasoning, particularly in determining whether a text is subject to ijtihad (independent reasoning). This study analyzes both classical and contemporary scholarly perspectives on textual authority and emphasizes the importance of reason (ijtihad) in contextualizing Islamic teachings. The findings indicate that ijtihad is essential for interpreting zhanni texts, especially in addressing evolving social issues. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding that integrates both textual analysis and contextual awareness is crucial for formulating adaptive and relevant Islamic legal thought.

Abstract

Financial literacy has gained global recognition as a crucial skill, emphasizing not only knowledge but also how it shapes attitudes and behaviors related to savings, spending, and avoiding consumptive habits. In Indonesia, policies on financial literacy focus on competence, prudent behavior, and access to financial services, with a growing emphasis on children and adolescents as key periods for habit formation. This community service activity aimed to foster financial literacy among elementary school students at SB At-Tanzil, Malaysia, by introducing concepts such as saving, prioritizing spending, and recording expenses through participatory and contextual methods. The activity included mentoring, simulations, group learning, games, and the use of piggy banks for savings practice, implemented over one session of 2–3 hours with 20 children aged 4–12. The results indicated that the children engaged positively, with many starting to save their allowances and making more thoughtful spending decisions. The activity succeeded in teaching them to distinguish between needs and wants and helped improve their ability to record savings. The program's success suggests that financial literacy should be a routine practice, with suggestions for incorporating a piggy bank project and a daily cash book to reinforce saving habits. Additionally, weekly parental checklists and regular assessments are recommended to ensure long-term progress and habit formation.

Abstract

The KKN-Thematic Community Service Program in Leppe Village, Soropia District, Konawe Regency, focuses on enhancing environmental health by implementing adaptive septic tanks in areas with high groundwater tables. The village, located in a coastal region with high groundwater levels, faces significant challenges in waste management, contributing to groundwater contamination and health issues. This program aims to educate the community on the importance of proper sanitation systems, specifically septic tanks, to prevent waterborne diseases and improve overall public health. Through participatory methods, the program involves residents in the planning, construction, and maintenance of septic tanks designed to withstand high water tables. The community is also trained in regular maintenance, ensuring long-term sustainability of the systems. The project is part of a broader effort to improve the quality of life in rural coastal areas by promoting hygienic practices and environmentally friendly waste management solutions. The outcomes of this initiative include increased awareness, improved sanitation infrastructure in the village, and the establishment of a replicable model for other coastal areas. The project has fostered collaboration between local authorities, academic institutions, and the community, laying the groundwork for ongoing environmental health improvements in the region.

Abstract

The current Tuberculosis Detection Target in Indonesia for 2024-2025 has not been fully achieved. Many challenges remain to be overcome. Some patients do not complete treatment and discontinue treatment prematurely, which can lead to relapse, further transmission, and the emergence of drug resistance (MDR-TB or XDR-TB). Patients do not understand the importance of completing treatment even though they feel healthy and the dangers of MDR-TB if treatment is discontinued. The Community Service Method used in this community service activity consists of several systematic stages: preparation (Pre-Activity), socialization, interactive lectures, focused discussions or Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), evaluation, and follow-up. The results of this community service activity showed an increase in knowledge, attitudes, and actions in indigenous communities in preventing tuberculosis transmission. It is recommended that health workers always involve community leaders in TB prevention through an active communication approach as traditional leaders serve as role models in decision-making.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the community mentoring process in the development of the Bonto Matinggi tourist village, Maros Regency, as an effort to increase local capacity in managing tourism based on natural and cultural potential. Using a participatory approach, mentoring activities included identifying tourism potential, developing development plans, training the community, and evaluating the program's sustainability. The results showed that mentoring was able to increase community understanding of the importance of sustainable tourism management, particularly in destination management, sanitation, environmental management, digital marketing, and tourist services. The implementation of mentoring also encouraged community participation in decision-making and the management of tourist facilities such as the parking lot and the Sappana waterfall area. Although there were positive results in terms of increased village income and growing local economic opportunities, this study identified obstacles such as limited human resources, low involvement of the younger generation, and environmental issues such as waste management and infrastructure maintenance. The final evaluation confirmed that the program's sustainability requires ongoing capacity building, the formation of tourism management groups, and partnerships with various external parties. Overall, the village tourism mentoring had a significant impact on increasing community independence and the development of the tourism sector, while also emphasizing the importance of collaboration and structured management.
