Abstract

Introduction: Anaphylactic reaction is a severe, potentially life-threatening systemic hypersensitivity reaction caused by a specific allergen. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical profile of anaphylactic patients hospitalized in Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Hospital, Denpasar. Method: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study of anaphylactic patients hospitalized in our center from January 2018 to December 2023. Patients diagnosed with anaphylactic reactions were included in this study. All the data (demographic, clinical manifestations, potential trigger) were attained from medical records for descriptive analysis. Result: 292 patients were enrolled in this study; half were women (54,4%), and the median age was 38,50 years (interquartile range 24). The most common potential triggers were drugs (57%), followed by food (18,5%), blood products (14,1), insect bites, and other triggers (4,8%). Almost all patients experience skin and mucosal manifestations (99%). Anaphylactic shock occurs in only 22% of patients. Discussion: Previous studies have found similar results to our findings, and anaphylactic reaction caused by drugs was associated with a more severe reaction. The effect of estrogen hormones on more severe reactions has been reported in female mice, but human research is still limited. Conclusion: Further studies are needed to investigate the correlation between demographic characteristics or specific clinical manifestations with a severe reaction.

Abstract

The spread of the Coronavirus Disease represents the most significant global health threat in recent decades. Blood type is among the risk factors associated with COVID-19, with certain blood types linked to increased severity and higher mortality rates. This research aims to assess the relationship between ABO blood type and outcomes in severe and critical COVID-19 patients in the ICU at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The study is an observational analytical research utilizing a cross-sectional approach. Data were gathered from the medical records of COVID-19 patients from January to September through a total sampling method, resulting in 124 individuals meeting the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed utilizing the Chi-Square test. The discoveries uncovered that male patients (54%) dwarfed female patients (46%). The larger part of patients were within the age range of 56-65 for years (33.9%). Patients with blood sort O were more predominant among those with extreme COVID-19 (31.3%) and basic COVID-19 (38.0%). The foremost common result was passing, happening in 56.0% of serious cases and 53.7% of basic cases. There was no factually noteworthy relationship between ABO blood sort and results in serious and basic COVID-19 patients, with a p-value of 0.778 (>0.05). The study concludes that there's no measurably critical affiliation between ABO blood sort and outcomes in extreme and basic COVID-19 patients within the ICU at Dr. M. Djamil Padang hospital.

Abstract

Childbirth is the process of expelling the fetus to the placenta, the process of giving birth is identical to pain, while to reduce this pain, non-pharmacological methods are carried out, one of which is the Birth Ball method. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using birth ball as a non-pharmacological complementary therapy in reducing labor pain in the first stage. The method used was a narrative literature review by searching for relevant articles on Google Scholar using keywords such as “Birth ball” and “Labor pain”. Inclusion criteria included Indonesian-language articles published between 2021-2023. Of the six studies analyzed, it was found that birth ball use significantly reduced the intensity of labor pain. These studies showed that birth balls can accelerate cervical opening and reduce anxiety of laboring mothers through movements that increase endorphin release. In conclusion, birth balls are effective as an alternative method to reduce labor pain in Stage I, providing the added benefit of increasing maternal comfort and relaxation during the labor process. This study suggests the use of birth ball as part of midwifery practice to reduce labor pain non-pharmacologically.

Abstract

In the world of sports, technology has become essential to improve the accuracy and efficiency of measuring athletes' fitness. The bleep test, a popular method for measuring cardiovascular endurance, often suffers from accuracy issues when performed manually. The purpose of this research is to develop a digital-based bleep test tool. In the implementation of the bleep test, there is currently no tool that ensures that bleep test participants pass the specified distance, and recording is still manual. This bleep test aid uses an ultrasonic sensor to detect test participants during the bleep test, and the data from this sensor will be sent to a PC or laptop to display the test results. This research method uses the R&D research method with the Borg and Gall research model. The result of this research is a sensor tool to help record the implementation of the bleep test digitally.  The results of the operational field test of this tool are able to detect test participants in the implementation of the bleep test and send data on the level, rotation, and Vo2max of participants in the implementation of the bleep test.

Abstract

This research examines the relationship between social impact and corporate profitability in the context of GoTo, Indonesia's largest technology conglomerate. This study analyzes GoTo's transformation from a simple ojek service to a comprehensive digital ecosystem, as well as its role during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using quantitative and qualitative mixed methods, this study investigates changes in consumer behavior, GoTo's economic contributions, and post-IPO challenges. Key findings show a significant increase in GoTo's service usage during the pandemic, with annual contributions reaching 1.6% of Indonesia's GDP. However, GoTo's pursuit of profitability post-IPO faces market volatility and regulatory scrutiny, particularly regarding driver-partner welfare. This research highlights the complexity of balancing social missions with the demands of profitability in the gig economy, emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to sustainable growth that considers the interests of all stakeholders.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of corporate governance on sustainability report disclosure, with environmental performance acting as a moderating variable. The analysis focuses on the role of the board of directors, independent commissioners, audit committees, and financial performance in influencing the quality of sustainability reporting, particularly within the Indonesian context. Environmental performance is measured using the PROPER scale. The study utilizes data from the annual and sustainability reports of 20 companies in the basic materials and energy mining sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2022, amounting to 100 observations. The data is processed using SPSS 23. The results show that the presence of female directors significantly enhances the quality of sustainability disclosures, as they tend to prioritize social responsibility. Moreover, financial performance, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA), positively affects sustainability reporting, with companies in better financial health being more transparent in their disclosures. Environmental performance, when combined with strong independent oversight, further improves reporting quality, reflecting the positive influence of independent commissioners and sound financial governance. The study concludes that environmental performance, as measured by the PROPER scale, plays a significant role in improving sustainability disclosures in Indonesia. It recommends that the Indonesian government provide stronger support and clearer regulations to help companies improve their sustainability practices and contribute to the G20 agenda.

Abstract

Siomay, a popular Indonesian snack traditionally made with high-fat chicken or beef fillings, can be made healthier by using mackerel fish instead. This modification, combined with the addition of potato starch, aims to improve the nutritional profile of siomay while maintaining its appeal to consumers, as mackerel is both tasty and nutritious.  This study aims to improve the nutritional profile and consumer acceptance of siomay filling through the integration of mackerel meat and potato starch. Data were analyzed using a Completely Randomized Factorial Design with two factors (mackerel meat and potato starch) mixed in different proportions in the siomay filling dough. Parameters tested included nutritional composition (protein, fat, carbohydrate, fiber, and mineral), physicochemical properties (texture, color, and aroma), and consumer acceptance test using a hedonic scale. The results showed that the most preferred treatment was K2D2 (14g mackerel meat and 20g potato starch), which was 5.6±1.5. The nutritional content of the siomay filling preferred by the panelists increased (water 29.07 g, protein 12.89 g, fat 3.65 g, ash 3.41 g, sugar 1.35 mg, vitamin B1 0.26 mg). However, the carbohydrate content decreased to 50.98 g, compared to the content of siomay filling without the addition of yellow potato starch (56, 74 g). This study shows that mackerel flour and potato starch can potentially be used to improve the nutritional profile and consumer acceptance of siomay filling.
