Abstract

Solar energy plays an important role in the temperature distribution on the Earth's surface and essential energy that sustains life for human. In the calculation of solar energy, the limitation of solar radiation data is a major obstacle. Solar radiation data is very limited at some observation stations due to the costly procurement of measuring instruments and complicated techniques. Estimation of global solar radiation using empirical models is one way to overcome the limitations of global solar radiation data at various locations. This study built the Angstrom-Prescott model to estimate global solar radiation based on the sunshine duration’s parameter in Aceh Besar Regency. Two years (2019-2020) global solar radiation and sunshine duration data from Aceh Climatological Station were used to estimate global solar radiation in 2021. Data for 2021 was using to evaluated the equation H/H0=0.28+0.22 (n/N), the results showed good model accuracy with an RMSE value of 0.052 and a MAPE of 11% (good forecasting). The model equation has been reliable to calculate solar radiation in four locations in Aceh Besar Regency.

Abstract

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education sector includes the learning system that cannot be conducted directly (offline). With the change in the learning system, it is necessary to evaluate whether the implemented online learning system can run well and provide results as expected. The level of student satisfaction is one of the factors that can be used to evaluate online learning. This study analyzed the student satisfaction level with online learning for the Mathematics Statistics II course at the Mathematics Department of Andalas University, related to service quality by lecture and the level of student understanding. Data analysis was conducted using causal modeling, namely Partial Least Square Structural Equations Modeling (PLS-SEM). By using The PLS-SEM, it is known that there is a significant and positive effect of service quality on student satisfaction in the Mathematics Statistics II course. In addition, the service quality also affects the understanding level significantly and positively. However, the level of student understanding has no significant effect on the level of student satisfaction. The coefficient of determination (R2) from the structural model of student satisfaction toward the Mathematics Statistics II course online learning is 0.774. This value indicates that the resulting model is good because it has relatively high accuracy.

Abstract

Abstract. Science and technology have been rapidly evolved in some fields of knowledge, including mathematics. Such development can contribute to improvements on the learning process that encourage students and teachers to enhance their abilities and performances. In delivering the material on the linear equation system with two variables (SPLDV), the conventional teaching method where teachers become the center of the learning process is still well-practiced. This method would cause the students get bored and have difficulties to understand the concepts they are learning. Therefore, in order to the learning of SPLDV easy, an interesting, interactive media that the students and teachers can apply is necessary. This media is designed using GUI MATLAB and named as students’ electronic worksheets (e-LKS). This program is intended to help students in finding and understanding the SPLDV concepts more easily. This program is also expected to improve students’ motivation and creativity in learning the material. Based on the test using the System Usability Scale (SUS), the design of interactive mathematics learning media of the linear equation system with Two Variables (SPLDV) gets grade B (excellent), meaning that this learning media is proper to be used for Junior High School students of grade VIII.Keyword: SPLDV, Learning Media, Students’ Electronic Worksheet (e-LKS) *Judul ini telah dipresentasikan pada Seminar Nasional: Indonesian Students Conference on Science and Mathematics(ISCSM) 11-12 November 2015, Banda Aceh Indonesia

Abstract

Chrysanthemum morifolium L. is one of the ornamental plants that has problems in maintaining the freshness of the flower. The handling given to maintain the shelf life of the flower is to soak the flowers with a natural preservative solution. This study aims to find out the effect of several types of natural preservative solutions and long soaking on the quality of freshness of chrysanthemum cut flowers, as well as to find out whether there is an interaction between the two treatments. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology and Horticulture Laboratory of the Department of Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh from March 30 to April 15, 2021. The study used a Complete Randomized Design of a 4 x 3 Factorial pattern with 3 repeats. The parameters observed include the diameter of the full blooming flower, the flower's ness index, the flower freshness period index, total absorbed solution, color measurement and organoleptic test. The results showed that the combination of treatment between natural and long-soaked solution types had a real effect on the parameters of the flower freshness index. The best freshness period of flowers is in the combination of 10% sugar solution type treatment with a 6-hour soaking length.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one type of cancer with the highest incidence suffered by women. Doxorubicin is a chemotherapy that is often used as the main chemotherapy and combination chemotherapy, but the use of doxorubicin is often complained of side effects that cause auto resistance. Combination with chemopreventives from natural ingredients has become an option to increase therapeutic response and to minimize side effects and resistance to chemotherapy use. This study aims to screen several active compounds of the phenolic-flavonoid group contained in Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera, Lam) against NFκβ receptors in silico using a molecular docking technique. The material in the form of “Canonical smiles” data is quercetin, quercetin-3 glycoside (Q3G), rutin, kaempferol, myricetin, isorhamnetin, deoxyelephantopin and doxorubicin which were downloaded from www.pubchem.org and converted to 3D structures using MOE software. While the 3D structure of the receptor (1VKX) was downloaded from www.rscb.org. The results of the docking of the active compounds contained in Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera, Lam) showed a fairly strong affinity by releasing energy when forming a ligand-receptor complex. Quercetin 3-glycoside has the best potential as an NF inhibitor with an affinity of -14.23 kcal/mol. Quercetin 3-glycoside also has a good pharmacokinetic profile with low toxicity. While the phenolic-flavonoid compounds contained in other Moringa leaves are only able to reduce the affinity of doxorubicin for the NF receptor by changing the "site binding" conformation of the receptor. In conclusion, quercetin 3-glycoside deserves to be a drug candidate or a companion to the chemotherapy of doxorubicin.

Abstract

Anredera cordifolia (Binahong) is one of the medicinal plants that has been widely used for its properties of inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, decreasing blood uric acid, and healing wounds. This study was conducted to evaluate the acute toxicity effects of ethanolic extract of binahong to support its use as a medicinal plant. Ethanolic extracts of binahong leaves were prepared. Twenty-five white male rats (Rattus norvegicus) were divided into 5 groups and administered with a single dose of Na-CMC suspension or a dose of 300, 600, 1200, or 2400 mg/kg BW of binahong ethanolic leaf extract, respectively. Toxicity symptoms were monitored at three-time intervals: ½-1, 1½-2, and 3-6 hours after the administration. A macroscopic evaluation of the rat’s liver was carried out to identify any lesion. The rat’s liver and whole-body weights were determined to assess the weight reduction. The results showed that there was no dead rat in any of the groups, indicating that no LD50 was identified. Also, there were several toxic effects observed including a decrease in movements, somatic response, insensitivity, and stool consistency. There was no evidence of a lesion on liver macroscopy. However, the weights of rats’ livers increased in tandem with the reduction in their body weights. The findings from this study reveal that single dose of binahong ethanolic extract ranging from 300 to 2400 mg/kg BW are safe, while minimal toxic effects were observed.
