Abstract

This research aims to analyze digital transformation in the fashion Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in the city of Bandung over a period of two decades (2000-2022). As the center of the national textile industry, Bandung is experiencing fundamental changes in the distribution and marketing patterns of fashion products. Using historical research methods, this article traces the transition of offline sales dominance in industrial and retail centers towards digital technology. Research findings show that the implementation of mobile banking (m-banking) is the main foundation that changes transaction behavior, which is then strengthened by the role of e-commerce platforms as an important role during the transition period. The Covid-19 pandemic was identified as a disruptive factor that paradoxically had a positive impact in the form of accelerating the digital ecosystem for fashion MSMEs to survive in the global market.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest multicultural countries in the world characterized by high diversity of religions, ethnicities, languages, cultures, and traditions. Therefore, according to Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) sociology of religion, houses of worship are no longer seen solely as places for religious rituals, but also as social institutions that have educational, cultural, and community functions. Therefore, this study aims to be a model of good practice for other religious institutions in building an inclusive, tolerant, and harmonious community life. This study uses a qualitative method (Field Research) with data collection techniques through observations conducted at the Ananda Avalokitesvara Rangkasbitung Temple, interviews with the temple administrators, and documentation. This study resulted in a discussion that initially in 1934 it was named Sam Kaw Hwee then in 1970 changed its name to the Ananda Avalokitesvara Temple. In addition, the Ananda Avalokitesvara Temple has a role in the pluralism of religious harmony in the form of social services, blood donation, distribution of basic necessities, assistance to the underprivileged, assistance for disaster victims, and participation in the Republic of Indonesia's independence parade by displaying Barongsai art, so that this pluralism includes: (1) Humanist pluralism; (2) Cultural pluralism; (3) Dialogic pluralism; (4) Inclusive pluralism.

Abstract

Along with rapid globalization and modernization, the Ronggeng Paser Dance Tradition in the Village of Kuaro serves as an identity and adhesive force within society, but is starting to be marginalized by foreign cultures entering the region. The aim of this research is to describe the background of the Ronggeng Paser Dance in the Village of Kuaro and the development of the Ronggeng Paser Dance Tradition in the Village of Kuaro from 2008 to 2025. The method used is a historical method consisting of four stages: first, heuristics is carried out by collecting primary sources in the form of interviews with informants, documents, and documentation. Second, source criticism is applied in two steps: external criticism and internal criticism. Third, interpretation is carried out by interpreting and examining the historical facts of the Ronggeng Paser Dance Tradition in Kuaro Village. Fourth, historiography, namely the presentation of a chronological and analytical reconstruction of events in the form of scientific writing. This study reveals that Tari Ronggeng Paser represents a cultural acculturation between the indigenous Paser and Malay peoples, emerging during the Sadurengas Sultanate era. Since becoming part of the Kuaro Village administration, Ronggeng Paser Dance has undergone changes in its presentation, accessories, and cultural status. In conclusion, this traditional dance meaningfully represents the cultural identity of the Kuaro Village community.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the clove trade policy implemented through the Clove Buffer and Marketing Agency (BPPC) on the Jambu Bol Cigarette Factory in Kudus during the period 1992–1998. The research employs the historical method with an economic history approach and applies Richard Robison's concept of crony capitalism as the analytical framework. Data were collected from the company's internal production records (1987–2000), government regulations on the clove trade, contemporary newspaper reports, and oral history interviews with former employees of the Jambu Bol Cigarette Factory. The findings indicate that the establishment of BPPC transformed the clove trade from a relatively open market into a centralized distribution system. This policy restricted the factory's access to raw materials, increased production costs, and created distribution and administrative obstacles that disrupted production activities. As a result, the factory's production declined from 1.92 billion cigarettes in 1992 to 790.37 million cigarettes in 1997, representing a decrease of more than 59 percent. The decline in production also reduced working hours and workers' incomes. Following the dissolution of BPPC in 1998, the company's production recovered significantly, although the recovery was also influenced by broader national economic and political changes. This study demonstrates that the New Order's clove trade policy affected not only clove farmers as producers but also the sustainability of medium-scale kretek cigarette manufacturers and the socio-economic conditions of their workers.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of the identity of the Arab Hadrami community in the Dutch East Indies from a diaspora-oriented identity toward a more inclusive Indonesian national identity during the early 20th century until 1942, using a qualitative historical method. Prior to 1934, the community tended to maintain an exclusive social identity with strong ties to Hadramaut. A significant turning point occurred with the Arab Youth Pledge of 1934, which encouraged younger generations of Arab descendants to identify themselves as part of the Indonesian nation. In the period between 1934 and 1942, their integration became more evident through the roles of organizations, intellectual figures, and participation in socio-political movements. These findings indicate that Indonesian nationalism developed in an inclusive manner by involving diverse ethnic groups, and highlight the important contribution of the Arab Hadrami community in shaping Indonesia’s national identity.
