Abstract

Agrarian conflict in Indonesia is a pressing structural issue, as it involves unequal access to land between the state, corporations, and indigenous communities. This study aims to examine the dynamics of agrarian conflict and state hegemony in controlling agrarian resources, while analyzing the resulting ecological impacts. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach, analyzing various legal documents, reports from civil society organizations, and academic and media articles. The results of the study indicate that the state, through national strategic projects and the granting of concessions such as HGU, often ignores the customary rights of local communities, triggering social conflict and damaging the ecological order. This form of domination is reinforced by the weak recognition of customary law and minimal public participation in the formulation of agrarian policies. Ecologically, agrarian conflict has an impact on deforestation, land degradation, environmental pollution, and a sustainability crisis. The study's conclusions confirm that the state exercises hegemony in agrarian conflict in Indonesia through coercive and ideological power, which legitimizes land grabbing in the name of development. Case studies show a pattern of land acquisition without community consent, which causes social conflict and ecological damage, and marginalizes the role of local communities in decision-making.

Abstract

The army is one of the dimensions of the TNI that is actively involved in civil administration. Disagreements between army leaders and civilian government regarding authority and command have been a persistent source of tension between civil groups and the military. The purpose of this study is to examine: 1) The July 3rd, 1946 Incident, 2) The October 17th, 1952 Incident, and 3) The Charter on the Integrity of the Army. This research employs critical historical methods. The research process begins with topic selection as an initial activity to determine the problem to be examined. The second phase involves collecting sources from archives, newspapers, and books. These sources were obtained from various locations including the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, UNY Library, Jogja Library Center, and the National Library. The third phase is verification, also called source criticism, to ensure the validity of the sources. The fourth phase is interpretation, which involves analyzing the sources. The fifth phase is historiography, which presents the research results. This research demonstrates that: (1) The Army (AD) had strong supporting factors for political involvement since the Proclamation of August 17, 1945; (2) The July 3rd, 1946 Incident and the October 17th, 1952 Incident indicate that relations between civilian and military groups were strained; (3) The Army Charter became a symbol of reunification following internal divisions within the Army.

Abstract

History learning is often perceived as tedious, accompanied by students’ low critical thinking skills. In the digital era, critical thinking is an essential competence for filtering information and countering misinformation. One innovative instructional medium that can be employed is Wordwall (group sort), which is designed to create a more interactive and participatory learning experience. This study aims to analyze the effect of using Wordwall (group sort) on students’ critical thinking skills in history learning. The research was conducted at SMAN 12 Banjarmasin during the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, employing a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The study population comprised 188 eleventh-grade students, with a sample of 62 students selected through purposive sampling and divided into an experimental class (XI-1) and a control class (XI-2). The research instrument consisted of five validated essay test items. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and t-tests with the assistance of IBM SPSS 29. The results indicated that the calculated t-value (2.259; df = 60) exceeded the critical t-table value (2.000) at a significance level of 0.028 < 0.05. These findings demonstrate a significant effect of Wordwall (group sort) on students’ critical thinking skills. Therefore, Wordwall proved to be more effective than PowerPoint, as evidenced by the higher posttest mean scores of the experimental class compared to the control class.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of Dayak Deah local wisdom values into Social Studies (IPS) instruction within the Merdeka Curriculum at public junior high schools in Tabalong Regency. The research was conducted at SMPN 1 Upau and SMPN 2 Upau, employing a qualitative case study approach. Data was collected through interviews with teachers and students, classroom observations, and analysis of relevant curriculum and syllabus documents. The results reveal that Dayak Deah local wisdom holds significant potential as a learning resource in Social Studies, yet its implementation is not fully optimized. A key challenge identified is the limited teacher knowledge of Dayak Deah local wisdom, compounded by a lack of supporting resources for its integration into teaching. These barriers impede teachers from effectively incorporating local wisdom into lessons, thereby failing to fully reflect the cultural diversity of the region. This study aims to contribute to the advancement of local wisdom-based Social Studies education and provide actionable recommendations for educators and stakeholders to enhance teacher knowledge and improve resource availability, facilitating more effective integration of local cultural values into the curriculum

Abstract

This study discusses the tradition of bathing every seven months of the Banjar community in Banjarmasin from 1860 to 2023, focusing on the values of faith contained therein. This tradition is a blend of local cultural heritage and Islamic principles, especially those related to monotheism, gratitude, resignation, and the importance of prayer and alms in life. The study uses a historical method with a descriptive approach, relying on primary data from interviews and observations, as well as secondary data from related literature. The analysis technique was carried out historically to trace changes in tradition over time. The results of the study show that although this bathing tradition has undergone significant changes, the essence of faith such as recognition of the oneness of Allah (tawhid), gratitude for pregnancy, and an attitude of resignation in facing childbirth are maintained. This tradition also functions as a medium to strengthen Islamic brotherhood in society. The flexibility of Islamic teachings in accommodating local wisdom is reflected in the sustainability of this tradition, despite facing the challenges of modernization and globalization. This study provides insight into how the values of faith can continue to live in local traditions.
