Abstract

The holy book of Hinduism, namely the Vedas, is a source of spiritual knowledge and scientific knowledge. Yoga and Āyurveda are part of Hindu science. Both are sources of holistic health science, where yoga is part of Sad Darsana and Āyurveda as a derivation of Caturveda, especially Ṛgveda. Yoga and Āyurveda will show their integrative relationship when viewed from the derivations or branches of the sacred Caturveda literature. If Caturveda is directly related to the ways of carrying out the union of the self with God using the ritual path, then Yoga Darsana is related to the discipline of self-unification using the path of physical, mental and spiritual health. In short, to attain union with God throughout life requires knowledge of yoga and Āyurveda, both theoretically and practically. One of the goals of health science is to provide a better life for humans. This health science provides knowledge about how to prevent and treat disease disorders. So the knowledge of yoga and Āyurveda is also learned to balance health conditions. If the science of Āyurveda can treat the human body, then the science of yoga can perfect this knowledge by being able to realize the balance of body, mind and spirit. That's moksartham Jagadhita ya ca iti dharma. If this information is conveyed communicatively by Hindus and readers of Hindu teachings, then misunderstanding of a knowledge can be avoided and then physical, mental and spiritual health will be achieved.

Abstract

Nyepi is a Hindu’s holy day which is celebrated by the Balinese to commemorate the new year Çaka. Nyepi is very uniquecelebration because it is celebrated by eliminating all routines. Nyepi as a religious tradition and ritual can make a real contribution to the preservation of nature. The series of Nyepi ceremonies starts from melasti, nyejer, tawur kesanga, Nyepi day and ends with ngembak geni. The essence of the celebration of the Nyepi Holy Day is Catur Brata Penyepian consisting of: amati geni (not light a fire), amati karya (not working), amati lelungan (not traveling), and amati lelanguan (not eating and enjoying entertainment). At a higher level, Catur Brata Penyepian leads Hindus to hone their quality of self by controlling the inner flames of lust, eliminating physical work to increase spiritual work, increase the inner race, and not fixating on the pleasures of the world. With this understanding, a series of Nyepi ceremonies can be used as a means of discovering true truth within oneself, such as the teachings of yoga. The Astangga Yoga concept presents eight stages of yoga namely yama, nyama, āsana, prānāyāma, pratyāhāra, dhārana, dhyāna and samādhi. Astangga Yoga has been applied in the implementation of the Nyepi Holy Day series by clearing the senses to achieve true truth. The teachings of yoga dissolve in Nyepi Holy Day ceremonial activities which are carried out earnestly and wholeheartedly.

Abstract

Tatĕngĕr occupies a very important role in Balinese usadha. Although not exactly the same, Tatĕngĕr has similarities with diagnosis in medical treatment. In Bali there are various ways to diagnose both those that originate from oral tradition and text tradition. Sometimes between one healer and another healer has a different way to detect the patient's disease. A healer learns the diagnosis from reading traditional medical books (lontar usadha), learning from a teacher, or discovering it based on his experience.Sometimes a balian is able to detect disease through ways that are not understood by general logic, even his own reason. This phenomenon is known in Bali as a horn. Of course, how to detect this kind of disease is very difficult to teach others. Given the variety of ways of diagnosing diseases in the Balinese usadha, studies in this field can be done to the widest possible range of perspectives.
