Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of the multiliteracy learning model on the ability to write speech texts of class XI students of SMAS Harapan Medan. This study was motivated by the low ability of students in writing structured, communicative, and persuasive speech texts. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The study population was all class XI students of SMAS Harapan Medan in the 2025–2026 academic year, and the sample was determined using a saturated sampling technique. The research instrument was a speech text writing test given before and after the implementation of the multiliteracy learning model. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed that there was a significant increase in students' speech text writing abilities after the implementation of the multiliteracy learning model, with a significance value of p <0.05. This finding proves that the multiliteracy learning model has a positive and significant effect on students' speech text writing abilities. Thus, the multiliteracy learning model is effective for use in speech writing learning at the high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between vocabulary mastery and short story writing skills among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 24 Makassar. The research conducted is descriptive correlational in nature and employs a quantitative approach. The population of this study was all seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 24 Makassar, with a sample determined using purposive sampling, namely 34 seventh-grade students. Data collection techniques used two instruments, namely a multiple-choice vocabulary mastery test and a short story writing skills test. Data analysis techniques consisted of descriptive statistics to describe the data for each variable and inferential statistics with Spearman's rank correlation test. The results showed that the students' vocabulary mastery level was in the sufficient category with an average score of 62.35. Meanwhile, the students' short story writing skills were in the low category with an average score of 35.29. The Spearman correlation test obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.293 with a significance of 0.093 (p > 0.05), which means that there was no significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and short story writing skills. These findings indicate that short story writing skills are not determined by vocabulary mastery but are influenced by factors such as text structure mastery, creativity, reading experience, and writing motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Canva-based instructional materials for North Sumatran folklore texts for junior high school students by applying the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The analysis stage involved identifying students’ needs and the applicable curriculum, which revealed that folklore materials in textbooks tend to be monotonous and less engaging for students. During the design stage, the researcher developed a student learning module equipped with intrinsic and extrinsic elements, interactive exercises, and visual displays featuring a modern ethnic theme characteristic of North Sumatra. The module was developed using Canva, incorporating animations and quizzes to enhance student engagement. The material expert validation results showed a feasibility percentage of 90% (very feasible category), while media expert validation reached 91.2% (very feasible category). Teacher responses to the instructional materials were also highly positive, with an average score of 90.4%, indicating that the module is attractive, easy to use, and relevant to the needs of 21st-century learning. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Canva-based North Sumatran folklore instructional materials are feasible to be used as an innovative learning medium that not only enriches students’ understanding of local culture but also fosters learning interest through the integration of digital technology in Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and explain the moral values contained in the film Uang Panaik Mahal and its relationship to the culture of the Makassar community. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a focus on the disclosure and interpretation of moral valuesrepresented through dialogue and film scenes. The research data are in the form of speech and visual events that reflect moral values, while the main data source is the film Uang Panaik Mahal by Asril Sani and Halim Gani Safia. Data collection techniques were carried out through listening, reading, and note-taking techniques. Researchers watched the film repeatedly to understand the storyline, characters, and socio-cultural context, then noted dialogues and scenes relevant to the focus of the study. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the film Uang Panaik Mahal represents the main moral values, namely honesty, being yourself, responsibility, moral courage, independence, humility, and critical attitude. These values are constructed through personal and social conflicts based on local culture, so that this film functions effectively as a character education medium. In addition, this film also serves as a means of reflection and social criticism of the shifting meaning of customs, especially the practice of panaik money, so that it is relevant as a source of character learning based on local wisdom in the context of contemporary society.
