Abstract

Conceptual cost estimation is a critical task during the early stages of a construction project, especially for green buildings, which present unique sustainability challenges and design complexities. Traditional methods such as regression analysis are widely used but often rely on experienced estimators and are time-consuming, while Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) offer a modern alternative but are limited by the quality and quantity of available data. This study aims to develop a hybrid model combining regression analysis and ANN to improve the accuracy of conceptual cost estimation for green and conventional high-rise buildings in Indonesia. Using data from 22 high-rise building projects (13 conventional and 9 green buildings), the study employed regression analysis, ANN techniques, and a combination of the two, with eight key variables selected for modeling. The hybrid model demonstrated the highest accuracy, achieving a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 15.09%, within the acceptable range for conceptual cost estimation (+10–30%) as per AACE standards, outperforming standalone regression and ANN models. These findings highlight that integrating regression analysis and ANN provides a robust tool for early-stage cost estimation, supporting sustainable construction practices and informed decision-making.

Abstract

The "Zero Waste City" program is a waste management policy initiative in Depok City that has been implemented from 2016 to 2024. The primary objective of this program is to make the entire Depok City area free from all types of waste. However, the program's implementation faces challenges, leading to some areas in Depok City still struggling with waste issues. Universitas Indonesia, as a higher education institution located in Depok City, acknowledges the waste-related challenges in its surrounding environment. Therefore, the university is committed to actively participating in solving waste issues originating from its campus environment. This research aims to address waste issues at the source, particularly by applying appropriate technology based on the criteria and sub-criteria at Universitas Indonesia. This step is expected to contribute to reducing waste-related problems in Depok City and serve as an example of effective waste management from its source. Notably, Universitas Indonesia contributes to the accumulation of residual waste at TPA Cipayugn Depok, which has become increasingly concerning over time. The analysis in this study employs the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods to evaluate suitable waste management technologies for addressing the issues of residual waste accumulation. Additionally, techno-economic analysis is conducted to assess the feasibility of the selected technology. The project's feasibility evaluation parameters include Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PBP), and Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR).

This product is tailored to meet the needs of Polri personnel who require convenient and nutritious snacks, especially those working in the field. The study employs a qualitative approach, analyzing both the enabling and constraining factors involved in the implementation of Viriya Crispy Fish's marketing strategy. Data is gathered through interviews and a review of relevant literature on MSME marketing. The results indicate that Polri's support, which includes entrepreneurial training, business legality assistance, and facilitation of access to financing, significantly enhances MSME competitiveness. However, challenges remain, particularly regarding the adoption of digital marketing technology and the optimization of distribution channels. This study provides strategic recommendations to improve the marketing effectiveness of MSME products, especially through the enhancement of STP and 4P strategies. By implementing the appropriate marketing approaches, Viriya Crispy Fish is expected to become more competitive, increase market penetration, and achieve sustainable growth. Additionally, this study offers insights into how Polri can continue to act as a facilitator for MSME development through more focused and innovative programs.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the work accident prevention behaviors of technical service officers in response to the implementation of the "One Pict Saves You" initiative at PT PLN (Persero) Customer Service Unit in Bireuen. This initiative was introduced to improve compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as a preventive measure to reduce workplace accidents. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach with thematic analysis techniques. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews with supervisors, management, and technical service officers, as well as an analysis of the company's safety documents. Interview questions focused on officers' awareness of the importance of PPE, compliance with safety procedures, and behavioral changes following the implementation of the "One Pict Saves You" initiative. The results indicate that the implementation of this initiative successfully increased awareness and compliance with PPE use. Most officers recognized the importance of PPE in protecting their own safety and felt encouraged by consistent visual monitoring. Additionally, the data demonstrated positive changes in safety behavior, including voluntary compliance and enhanced awareness of safety procedures. However, challenges remain in overcoming factors that inhibit consistent compliance, such as occasional PPE availability issues and ingrained habits. The managerial implications of this research highlight the importance of developing an app-based monitoring system, improving internal communication regarding safety procedures, and providing incentives for officers who comply with safety protocols. The company is advised to continue periodic safety training and awareness programs to ensure that behavioral changes remain sustainable.

Abstract

In Indonesia's construction industry, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contracts have become a widely recognized option, especially for projects with high levels of complexity. PT XYZ, as a state-owned construction company (BUMN), is actively involved in EPC projects in sectors such as power plants, factories, and oil processing. Given the high complexity of these projects, PT XYZ needs to form a consortium with partners to complement its limited capabilities. However, the formation of a consortium introduces risks that could potentially harm PT XYZ during project execution. This research aims to develop a risk management strategy to assist PT XYZ in making the right decisions in managing consortium risks, thereby enhancing the company's capacity to complete EPC projects. The research findings reveal that the highest risks occur during the construction phase, categorized as “Medium to High” level. These risks include "The Vendor Chosen by the Partner Lacks Competence", "Redesign Work, Design Errors or Defects, and Poor Design Variation Process Management", and "Poor Coordination Process Between Design, Procurement, and Construction"

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic marketing, trust in regulations, and the image of Islamic banks in social activities on customer decisions, as well as the role of financial literacy moderation on these relationships. The sample used consisted of 384 Islamic bank customers who were selected through accidental sampling techniques. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with the help of SmartPLS software. The results of the study show that Islamic marketing has a significant influence on customer decisions with the highest coefficient compared to other variables. The image of Islamic banks in social activities also has a significant effect, but trust in regulations does not show a significant influence on customer decisions. Islamic financial literacy has been proven to moderate the relationship between the image of Islamic banks in social activities and customer decisions, while not moderating the relationship between Islamic marketing and trust in regulations on customer decisions. These findings contribute to the development of Islamic bank marketing theory and provide insights for Islamic banks to strengthen their marketing strategies by focusing on the social image and financial literacy of customers.
