Abstract

Employment is a crucial element in supporting a country's economic progress. This study aims to evaluate the impact of several macroeconomic indicators, namely minimum wages, unemployment, and inflation, on the labor force participation rate in six ASEAN member countries (ASEAN-6). This study uses a quantitative approach through panel data regression analysis with a random effect model. The findings of the study indicate that minimum wages have no effect on labor force participation, while unemployment and inflation rates have been shown to have a significant effect.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine how Regional Original Income (PAD) affects economic growth in the Gerbangkertosusila region between 2019 and 2023, which consists of four main components: Regional Taxes, Regional Levies, Results from the Management of Separated Regional Assets, and Other Legitimate PAD. This study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data regression method using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The test results indicate that partially, Regional Taxes have a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Meanwhile, Regional Levies, Results from the Management of Separated Regional Assets, and Other Legitimate PAD have no significant effect on economic growth. Simultaneously, all four components of PAD have a significant effect on economic growth in the Gerbangkertosusila region. This finding demonstrates the importance of optimizing PAD, especially components that are proven to be able to drive economic growth, as a basis for regional fiscal policy making.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the perceptions of clothing traders in Rengel Village Traditional Market regarding financial digitalization. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied using method and source triangulation. Data were collected through structured and semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and photo documentation. The findings reveal that traders’ perceptions vary depending on their understanding, experience, and technology access. Some perceive digital payments such as e-wallets (DANA, OVO), QRIS, and bank transfers as useful (perceived usefulness), but actual use remains limited to bank transfers, often with family assistance. QRIS and e-wallets are still in the introductory stage due to limited technical knowledge. Other obstacles include unstable internet access and limited device ownership.Overall, the acceptance of digital finance among traditional market traders is still at an early stage. Therefore, education, guidance, and infrastructure support are needed to gradually enhance the adoption of financial digitalization in traditional markets.

Abstract

Abstract One of the most significant macroeconomic factors is the exchange rate as its changes have the Pudak Beach has great potential as a marine tourism destination; however, its development still faces various challenges, such as a lack of supporting infrastructure and low community involvement in its management. This study aims to design a tourism area plan for Pudak Beach using a community-based approach to improve the local community’s economic well-being while preserving environmental sustainability. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and discussion forums with the community and other stakeholders. The results show that active community involvement in the planning and management of tourism can enhance tourist appeal, create job opportunities, and strengthen local cultural identity. Therefore, a development strategy that prioritizes community participation, environmental conservation, and human resource capacity building is essential.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between health status, health shocks, and labor force participation in East Java using panel data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) waves 3, 4, and 5. Employing fixed-effects and random-effects logistic regression models, the results show that good self-reported health significantly increases the probability of labor force participation, affirming the economic value of health as human capital. However, health shocks—captured as changes in health condition between waves—do not significantly predict labor market disengagement, indicating possible measurement limitations or labor supply rigidity. The analysis further reveals that the positive effect of good health is substantially weaker for women, suggesting gendered constraints in labor returns to health. Educational attainment consistently predicts labor force participation, reinforcing the complementary role of formal education in economic resilience. These findings contribute to the growing empirical literature on the health–labor nexus in emerging regional economies.

Abstract

Poverty persists as formidable challenge confronting numerous developing nations, Indonesia included. This inquiry seeks to unravel the extent to which educational attainment, public health conditions, and labor force engagement exert influence upon poverty levels within the province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) over the 2019–2023 period. Laboring a numerous paradigm, the study adopted panel data subjected to regression analysis via E-Views 12 software. The empirical evidence delineates that the three independent variables average years of schooling, life expectancy, and labor force participation rate exert a statistically monumental and inverse result on poverty incidence. In essence, the enhancement of educational quality, the fortification of health services, and robust participation in the labor market contribute substantively to poverty alleviation in the region. These findings accentuate the indispensable role of human capital development and employment generation as cornerstones of anti-poverty strategies. It is anticipated that this research may serve as a substantive reference for regional policymakers in crafting interventions that expand educational access, improve healthcare provision, and cultivate inclusive employment opportunities throughout NTT.

Abstract

Income inequality is a crucial issue in economic development in Indonesia, given its significant impact on social and economic stability. This study analyzes the effects of unemployment, labor productivity, poverty, and economic growth on income inequality in regencies/cities in East Java Province from 2018 to 2024, using the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). The analysis results show that unemployment and poverty variables do not have a statistically significant effect on income inequality. Conversely, labor productivity was found to have a negative and significant effect, indicating that increased productivity tends to reduce income inequality. Meanwhile, economic growth has a positive and significant effect, indicating that economic growth actually increases income inequality. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that increasing labor productivity is a key factor in efforts to reduce income inequality. Furthermore, the results regarding the positive effect of economic growth indicate problems in the distribution of the benefits of economic growth, where economic growth is not enjoyed equally by all levels of society.
