Abstract

This study addresses the low early reading skills among first-grade elementary students, which are often caused by monotonous teaching methods and the lack of engaging learning media. The aim of this research is to evaluate the impact of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on improving reading abilities at SDN Karang Mekar Mandiri 1. A quantitative approach was applied involving 32 students, with data collected through pre-tests, post-tests, evaluation sheets, and closed-ended questionnaires. The results showed an increase in the average score from 67.65 to 80.25, with 84.53% of students showing improvements in reading skills and learning motivation. The PjBL model proved to be an effective and innovative approach for enhancing early reading abilities and fostering active student participation in the learning process.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of implementing the STAD learning model, supported by picture card media, on improving early reading skills among first-grade elementary school students. A quantitative research approach was applied, utilizing a pretest-posttest design. The findings revealed a significant improvement, with an average score increase of 29.68 points from pretest to posttest. The significance level of p < 0.05 indicates that the method is statistically effective. Good responses from students and observations of the learning process that are running effectively support the success of implementing this method. Attractive and easy-to-understand visual media can motivate students and increase the effectiveness of learning to read, so this method is worthy of being an alternative for sustainable learning. Overall, the use of the STAD Study model with picture card media has proven capble to significantly improve the reading learning outcomes of elementary school students and can be implemented widely.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of the deep learning approach to developing elementary school students' communication skills, especially at SD Muhammadiyah Ambarbinangun. The main focus of this research includes the form of application of deep learning in the learning process, the learning activities used, student responses to the learning model, as well as the challenges and solutions faced by teachers. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews and documentation. Data was collected from purposively selected sources and analyzed qualitatively to explore the deep meaning of the observed phenomena. The research results show that the application of deep learning through group discussions, presentations and project-based learning plays an important role in improving students' communication skills. Students become more active, confident and open in expressing opinions and working together in groups. Although time constraints were a major challenge, teachers managed to overcome this through continuous evaluation which included observations and written assessments. Overall, deep learning is proven to not only improve cognitive understanding, but also strengthen students' social and emotional aspects.

Abstract

In today's era, students tend to show a lack of interest in mathematics. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to foster students’ learning interest in mathematics. The research was conducted at SDN Karang Mekar 1 using a quantitative method. The results showed a pre-test score of 58.21 and a post-test score of 89.29. The feedback sheet results totaled 881 out of a maximum of 1,120, indicating a success rate of 78.66%. The closed-ended questionnaire instrument scored 1,289 out of a maximum of 1,568, reflecting a success rate of 82.23%. The researcher investigated students’ interest in the topic of bar charts and efforts to improve that interest through the use of an interactive learning model. The study concluded that students were able to engage actively in the learning process through the use of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, which effectively increased their interest in learning. Thus, it is important for educators to utilize interactive media or learning models to foster students' learning interest.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the obstacles experienced by fourth grade students of Lemahrubuh Elementary School in writing affixed words in the Indonesian Language subject. Writing skills are included in fairly complex language skills, because students must not only understand the meaning of basic words, but also be able to use affixes correctly according to grammatical rules. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with data collection methods through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The research findings show that students still have difficulty in identifying and using prefixes, infixes, and suffixes correctly. This difficulty is caused by limited vocabulary, lack of variety in teaching methods, minimal use of interactive learning media, and lack of parental involvement in assisting children's learning process. In addition, online learning also affects students' less than optimal understanding. However, students' understanding tends to increase when teachers use interesting learning media and deliver material through real examples. Therefore, a more comprehensive teaching strategy is needed by optimizing creative learning media, increasing parental involvement, and implementing periodic evaluations so that students' ability to write affixed words can develop optimally.

Abstract

This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, where this study aims to analyze and describe the effectiveness of using picture word cards as a medium to enhance early reading skills in first-grade students at Tegalrejo III Public Elementary School. Education is a fundamental right that is crucial for the progress of human civilization, and early reading skills are a critical foundation for children's academic and social success. However, the facts show that teaching early reading in schools often still uses monotonous techniques, which results in a lack of interest and unsatisfactory learning outcomes for children. Common problems faced by children include difficulties in linking letters, syllables, simple sentences, distinguishing letters, and understanding the content of reading. One of the main factors is the lack of diversity in teaching strategies and learning media used. Therefore, this research investigates the creative use of illustrated flashcards to build a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Children's motivation, letter recognition, word spelling, and early reading skills have all been shown to improve significantly with illustrated flashcards that combine words with images. This material is also considered aesthetically pleasing and easy to understand. However, the use of this media is found to have limitations, as each card typically contains only one word. To make reading activities more challenging, it is suggested to create cards that can accommodate multiple words.

Abstract

Pendidikan dasar memegang peranan penting dalam membentuk pemahaman ilmiah peserta didik, salah satunya melalui pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA). Namun demikian, masih ditemukan berbagai miskonsepsi di kalangan siswa, khususnya pada materi wujud zat dan perubahannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar terkait materi tersebut dengan menggunakan tes diagnostik two-tier. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan melibatkan 41 siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 1 Srandakan sebagai subjek penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes diagnostik two-tier yang dirancang untuk mengungkap pemahaman dan alasan siswa secara bersamaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat miskonsepsi tertinggi terdapat pada topik perubahan wujud zat sebesar 73,13% (kategori tinggi), diikuti oleh jenis-jenis wujud zat sebesar 51,21% dan karakteristik wujud zat sebesar 60,97% (keduanya kategori sedang). Faktor penyebab miskonsepsi antara lain perbedaan pemahaman antar guru, sehingga penyampaian materi tidak seragam. Secara umum, miskonsepsi timbul akibat faktor siswa (prakonsepsi, tahap kognitif, minat, pola pikir), guru (penguasaan materi, metode mengajar, komunikasi), buku teks (informasi kurang akurat), dan metode pengajaran yang terbatas pada satu sudut pandang. Abstract

Early reading learning is a very important early stage in elementary education, but many students still have difficulty reading due to various factors. The results of a study at Tegalmulyo State Elementary School showed that the less varied learning methods and minimal use of interactive media caused students to feel bored and less enthusiastic in learning to read. The lack of interesting reading materials and learning models that were not in accordance with students' learning styles also contributed to their low understanding of reading texts. In addition, parental involvement in supporting children's reading habits at home still varies, where some students do not get enough guidance. Therefore, more innovative learning methods are needed, such as story-based approaches, educational games, and the use of technology so that students are more interested in reading. With cooperation between teachers, schools, and parents, it is hoped that students can improve their reading skills optimally and enjoy the learning process more enjoyable

Abstract

The low learning achievement of fourth grade students is a direct result of the lack of enthusiasm for learning, so this study is important to do. Lack of interest and minimal participation in conventional class activities are clear evidence. Therefore, the application of new learning methods that are tailored to the unique characteristics of each student is very much needed to generate interest and encourage more active involvement. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) learning paradigm in improving learning motivation and learning outcomes of fourth grade students. A simple quantitative method with an experimental design based on the TSTS learning model was used. Elementary school students who were randomly selected from the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year became participants6Data were collected through assessment tests to compare achievement before and after the implementation of the TSTS model, observation sheets to monitor student involvement, and closed questionnaires to measure learning interest.Data analysis used a descriptive quantitative approach. The results showed that students responded positively to the TSTS learning model, as reflected in 77.14% of the "Good" assessments on the questionnaire. Through group work and knowledge sharing, students gain self-confidence, better questioning skills, and are able to express material in their own words. In addition, active involvement in class discussions and Q&A sessions showed high student interest and enthusiasm. The average class score also increased significantly, from 62 to 79 after the intervention. The findings indicate that the TSTS learning paradigm is able to increase students' enthusiasm for learning and achievement in class. This model encourages participation, cooperation, and deeper understanding through interactions between students and teachers. In conclusion, the Four Stay Two Stray (TSTS) learning method has a positive impact on the learning motivation and academic achievement of fourth grade students, as evidenced by an increase in questionnaire scores of 77.14% and an increase in the average score to 79 percent.

Abstract

This study discusses the relationship between students' learning styles and teaching strategies applied by teachers in mathematics learning for sixth grade students at Krebet Elementary School. There are three different learning styles, namely visual, auditory and kinesthetic, which affect students' understanding and interest in mathematics learning. To accommodate this diversity, teachers use active learning strategies, involve teaching aids, implement peer tutors, and create a supportive learning environment. This research method uses qualitative techniques through observation and interviews. The results of this study indicate that using strategies that are adjusted to each student's learning style can improve student achievement and learning outcomes. The use of visual media is beneficial for students with visual learning styles, discussions are effective for auditory students, while direct activities are suitable for kinesthetic students. In addition, the involvement of peer tutors has been shown to help clarify students' understanding of the material. Learning mathematics in this context not only requires intellectual improvement and skills to solve problems, but also shapes students' personalities. The materials studied include numbers, geometry, measurement, and data processing. Overall, this study concludes that understanding students' learning styles combined with appropriate teaching strategies can create an effective and enjoyable learning process, and significantly improve students' mathematics learning outcomes.
