Jurnal Ilmiah Widya Pustaka Pendidikan merupakan jurnal ilmiah akses terbuka dan peer-review yang diterbitkan oleh Jurusan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Mataram. Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model in enhancing intrinsic motivation among fourth-grade students at SDN 083 Babakan Surabaya in IPAS subject (Natural and Social Sciences), specifically on the topic of changes in states of matter. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the study involved 28 students and collected data through direct classroom observations, student worksheets (LKPD), evaluation forms, and open-ended questionnaires. The findings show that 86% of the students demonstrated high intrinsic motivation, collaborative behavior, and active participation during learning sessions using the Team Games Turnament (TGT) model. Students found the group activities fun and engaging, indicating a boost in curiosity, perseverance, and self-confidence. While a small portion (14%) of the students remained passive, the overall learning atmosphere was participatory and enjoyable. Most groups completed the LKPD accurately, suggesting improved understanding of the subject matter. The results highlight Team Games Turnament (TGT) role in creating a learning environment that fosters academic interest, emotional involvement, and positive student interaction. Consequently, this model proves to be effective in increasing students’ intrinsic motivation and conceptual grasp in elementary science education.

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter merupakan salah satu hal yang dilakukan untuk membantu peserta didik dalam memahami nilai-nilai perilaku manusia yang berkaitan dengan Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, diri sendiri, orang lain, lingkungan dan negara. Pendidikan karakter sangat penting untuk diterapkan pada peserta didik sejak dini agar peserta didik tidak melakukan tindakan yang dapat merugikan orang lain seperti tindakan bullying. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter pada siswa sekolah dasar sebagai upaya pencegahan terhadap perilaku bullying. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Implementasi Pendidikan Karakter di SDN 31 Mataram belum dilaksanakan secara maksimal. Hal ini terlihat dari masih banyaknya peserta didik yang melakukan tindakan bullying di sekolah. Bullying tersebut terjadi karena berbagai faktor seperti kurangnya perhatian dari orangtua, lingkungan tempat tinggal maupun sekolah serta pemahaman terhadap karakter yang masih kurang. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasinya yaitu melakukan edukasi tentang anti bullying, penanaman karakter dengan kegiatan pembiasaan harian dan mengadakan kegiatan-kegiatan religius.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the simulation method in project-based learning (PjBL) in the sixth grade of SDN 40 Mataram. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of classroom activities. The results indicate that the simulation method enhances student engagement, strengthens conceptual understanding, and fosters collaboration in project work. The teacher plays a vital role as a facilitator in designing simulation scenarios that align with the project themes. Challenges encountered include limited time and supporting facilities; however, these can be addressed through careful planning and optimal use of available resources. The study concludes that the simulation method is effective in supporting the success of project-based learning at the elementary level, particularly in improving 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

Abstract

prompted this study. Identified issues included students' difficulty in understanding weather and climate topics, low classroom participation, and teacher-centered instructional methods. This research aims to improve student learning outcomes through the application of the Cooperative Learning model, specifically the Make-A-Match type. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), carried out over two cycles. The findings indicate a significant improvement in student achievement, with the average score increasing from 75.4 in the first cycle to 89 in the second cycle. Furthermore, student motivation and classroom engagement improved, with most students categorized as “Developing” to “Proficient”. In conclusion, the Make-A-Match model effectively enhances science learning outcomes and serves as an engaging, collaborative, and active learning approach suitable for primary school education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using Word Wall media in improving multiplication understanding in lower grade students at SDN Karang Mekar Mandiri 1. The method used is quantitative with pretest and posttest design, as well as filling out student response questionnaires. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in student scores after learning using Word Wall (p <0.05), as well as very positive student responses to this media. Media validation by ICT experts obtained a score of 87.5%, indicating that the media is feasible to use. Observations during the learning process showed a high level of active student participation. Overall, the study concluded that Word Wall media is effective and feasible to use to improve understanding of multiplication concepts and active student participation in elementary mathematics learning.

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research aims to analyze students’ errors in using standard and non-standard words in written texts. The study involved fourth-grade elementary students as subjects, whose writing results were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings showed that students frequently used non-standard words due to a lack of vocabulary mastery, exposure to informal language in daily life, and insufficient correction during the learning process. Common errors included the use of colloquial expressions, incorrect affixes, and informal spelling. The results highlight the need for improved learning strategies that emphasize vocabulary enrichment and structured practice in using standard language in written form.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of character education through school culture and identify the influencing factors, both supporting and constraining its implementation. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that character values ​​are instilled through learning activities, including by getting students used to praying before and after lessons, training problem-solving skills individually and in groups, encouraging students to actively ask questions and express opinions, and completing tasks independently. In addition, character formation is also realized through routine activities and role models, such as flag ceremonies, morning assembly, literacy programs, religious literacy, gymnastics activities, congregational Dzuhur prayers, and infaq activities. The implementation of character education based on school culture is influenced by a number of factors. The obstacles faced include low compliance of some students to teacher directions, weak personal awareness of students regarding the importance of character values, and lack of interest in literacy activities. This situation suggests the need for a more individual, sustainable, and creatively and attractively packaged coaching approach. On the other hand, the success of this program also has a number of supporting factors, including high commitment from teachers, enthusiasm and active involvement of students, parental involvement, and the availability of adequate supporting facilities. Collaboration between schools, students, and parents is a crucial aspect in realizing school culture as an effective means of forming students' characters in a complete and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of visual media in supporting second-grade students at SD N Panggang in developing early reading skills. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth structured interviews, and the analysis of relevant supporting documents. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the research findings. The results indicate that the use of visual media has a positive impact on enhancing students’ early reading abilities. Significant improvements were observed in several aspects, including reading accuracy, word pronunciation clarity, and reading fluency. In addition to strengthening early reading skills, the use of the PANCA Reading Board as a visual medium also positively influenced students’ learning motivation and interest, making them more enthusiastic and actively engaged in the learning process. The study concludes that the PANCA Reading Board is an effective instructional tool for improving early reading skills among second-grade students at SD N Panggang. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of more innovative and effective early reading instructional methods. Therefore, this research can serve as a reference for educators and future researchers in designing better strategies for teaching early reading.

Abstract

This study aims to initiate an understanding of how the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) can shape the character of students who grow through the cultivation of reading habits. GLS is a strategic program initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture to encourage students to read for 15 minutes every day in the school environment (Kemendikbud, 2016; Nugrahini, 2021). This study uses a qualitative approach, using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, principals, and students as research subjects (Nismawati, 2024; Guthrie & Klauda, ​​​​2014). The results of the study showed that the implementation of GLS was effective in increasing students' interest in reading while fostering a love of reading through the stages of habituation, development, and integration of literacy activities into school routines (Sari & Wulandari, 2020; Gambrell, 2011). In addition to improving literacy skills, GLS also functions as an effective means of instilling positive character values, encouraging students to become lifelong learners.

Abstract

Learning interest plays a significant role in determining the success of learning activities, especially at the elementary school level. One effective strategy to increase students' learning interest is through the use of interesting and appropriate learning media. This article aims to analyze the important role of learning media in fostering elementary school students' learning interest. The approach used in this study is qualitative, with data collection methods through interviews. Data were obtained from interviews with teachers and documents related to the learning process, and reinforced by literature reviews from various trusted sources such as scientific articles. The results of this study indicate that diverse learning media such as visual, audio-visual, and interactive technology can create a more enjoyable learning environment and support optimal understanding of the material. In addition, the media also plays a role in fostering curiosity and learning motivation in students. Therefore, teachers are expected to be able to utilize learning media creatively so that learning becomes more effective, interesting, and meaningful for students.
