Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Time Token Arrends learning model on the speaking skills of fifth-grade students in Indonesian language learning at SDN 6 Cakranegara during the 2018/2019 academic year. The research used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: class VA as the experimental group and class VB as the control group, each comprising 30 students. Data were collected using a performance assessment rubric to evaluate students’ speaking skills. The results showed that the calculated t-value of 12.418 was greater than the t-table value of 2.002 at a significance level of 0.05, indicating a significant effect of the Time Token Arrends model on improving students’ speaking skills. This model effectively enhances students’ active participation, learning motivation, and communication abilities during learning activities. Therefore, the Time Token Arrends model is recommended as an effective alternative speaking strategy at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the thinking empowerment learning strategy implemented by a sixth-grade teacher at SDN 26 Mataram. The strategy is carried out through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Based Learning (PjBL) models, which encourage students to think critically, creatively, and reflectively. The teacher acts as a facilitator who creates an active and engaging learning atmosphere. This research uses a qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection methods. The findings reveal that the strategy effectively increases student engagement, deepens conceptual understanding, and fosters independent learning. Despite challenges such as time constraints and preparation of learning media, the teacher overcomes them through reflection and effective time management Keywords: Learning Strategy, Critical Thinking, Independent Curriculum

Abstract

Education plays an important role in shaping the character and competence of students so that they are able to face real life challenges. In the context of basic education, the learning strategy used by teachers greatly determines the success of the teaching and learning process. One approach that is considered effective in increasing student engagement and understanding is the contextual learning strategy or Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Therefore, this study aims to analyze the application of contextual learning strategies in Class IV of SDN 46 Cakranegara. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative which aims to describe the application of contextual learning strategies in class IV of SDN 46 Cakranegara. The subjects of the study were homeroom teachers and class IV students of SDN 46 Cakranegara. In this study, data collection was carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation of learning activities in class IV of SDN 46 Cakranegara. The results of the study showed that class IV teachers of SDN 46 Cakranegara had a good understanding of contextual learning strategies (CTL). This understanding is not only limited to theoretical aspects, but also to the practical implementation of CTL as an approach that emphasizes the relationship between subject matter and students' real experiences. Teachers realize the importance of their role as facilitators in creating an active, meaningful, and contextual learning process, in line with the principles of constructivism. This understanding is reflected in the teacher's awareness in designing learning activities that involve students emotionally and cognitively through linking materials to local culture and the use of relevant media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Learning Cycle learning model in the subject of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in class IVB SDN 6 Mataram on the material of plant parts. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were all grade IVB students and grade IV teachers of SDN 6 Mataram. The results showed that the learning cycle model applied by the fourth grade teacher is the 5E leaning cycle model which consists of five stages namely engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation. The application of this learning cycle model is able to increase students' involvement and motivation in the learning process. Students become more active, interested, and dare to try because they are directly involved in exploration and observation activities, so that understanding of the material becomes more meaningful and contextual. This model also encourages the development of critical thinking skills, scientific attitudes, and students' ability to build knowledge independently. However, the application of learning cycle faces several challenges, such as differences in students' learning styles, the ease of students' attention being distracted when learning outside the classroom, and environmental constraints such as unfavorable weather. Nonetheless, in general, the learning cycle model is effective in improving the quality of IPAS learning in class IVB SDN 6 Mataram, by providing an effective learning cycle for students.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 068003 Simalingkar, which were attributed to the unengaging conventional teaching methods. The objective of this study was to improve mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method based on the Kurt Lewin model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed that in the first cycle, the average student score increased from 49.74 to 55.53, but this improvement was not statistically significant (p = 0.157). After improvements in the second cycle, the average score increased significantly from 57.86 to 80.48 (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that the TGT model effectively enhances mathematics learning outcomes. Therefore, the TGT model can be recommended as an alternative teaching strategy in elementary schools, particularly in mathematics subjects.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low understanding and memory of students on Natural and Social Sciences material in Elementary Schools. Many students have difficulty in understanding and memorizing the terms contained in the material, and lack of interest in learning and less varied learning approaches. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of problem-based learning models in improving students' understanding and memory of Science material. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with interview and documentation techniques, open questionnaires, evaluation sheets. The subjects of the study were 34 fourth grade students at SDN Cibeber Mandiri 1. The results of the study showed that the application of problem-based learning models was able to increase students' learning activity, and facilitate understanding of the material, and strengthen students' memory. Thus, problem-based learning models can be an effective learning alternative to improve the quality of Science learning in Elementary Schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the Discovery Learning model in IPAS education to assess the learning interest of elementary school students, particularly in the material on plant body functions. Discovery Learning is a learning approach that emphasizes the process of self-discovery and is expected to encourage students' interest in learning. The research method used is qualitative. The subjects of the study are fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Cibeber. The research instruments used include observation, observation sheets, questionnaires, and feasibility sheets. The results of the study indicate that students are more active and enthusiastic in learning with the Discovery Learning model. Through observations and questionnaires, students show that their involvement encourages interest in learning IPAS, with an average score of 85%. Thus, the implementation of Discovery Learning is effective in fostering students' interest in learning.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model in enhancing intrinsic motivation among fourth-grade students at SDN 083 Babakan Surabaya in IPAS subject (Natural and Social Sciences), specifically on the topic of changes in states of matter. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the study involved 28 students and collected data through direct classroom observations, student worksheets (LKPD), evaluation forms, and open-ended questionnaires. The findings show that 86% of the students demonstrated high intrinsic motivation, collaborative behavior, and active participation during learning sessions using the Team Games Turnament (TGT) model. Students found the group activities fun and engaging, indicating a boost in curiosity, perseverance, and self-confidence. While a small portion (14%) of the students remained passive, the overall learning atmosphere was participatory and enjoyable. Most groups completed the LKPD accurately, suggesting improved understanding of the subject matter. The results highlight Team Games Turnament (TGT) role in creating a learning environment that fosters academic interest, emotional involvement, and positive student interaction. Consequently, this model proves to be effective in increasing students’ intrinsic motivation and conceptual grasp in elementary science education.

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter merupakan salah satu hal yang dilakukan untuk membantu peserta didik dalam memahami nilai-nilai perilaku manusia yang berkaitan dengan Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, diri sendiri, orang lain, lingkungan dan negara. Pendidikan karakter sangat penting untuk diterapkan pada peserta didik sejak dini agar peserta didik tidak melakukan tindakan yang dapat merugikan orang lain seperti tindakan bullying. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter pada siswa sekolah dasar sebagai upaya pencegahan terhadap perilaku bullying. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Implementasi Pendidikan Karakter di SDN 31 Mataram belum dilaksanakan secara maksimal. Hal ini terlihat dari masih banyaknya peserta didik yang melakukan tindakan bullying di sekolah. Bullying tersebut terjadi karena berbagai faktor seperti kurangnya perhatian dari orangtua, lingkungan tempat tinggal maupun sekolah serta pemahaman terhadap karakter yang masih kurang. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasinya yaitu melakukan edukasi tentang anti bullying, penanaman karakter dengan kegiatan pembiasaan harian dan mengadakan kegiatan-kegiatan religius.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the simulation method in project-based learning (PjBL) in the sixth grade of SDN 40 Mataram. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of classroom activities. The results indicate that the simulation method enhances student engagement, strengthens conceptual understanding, and fosters collaboration in project work. The teacher plays a vital role as a facilitator in designing simulation scenarios that align with the project themes. Challenges encountered include limited time and supporting facilities; however, these can be addressed through careful planning and optimal use of available resources. The study concludes that the simulation method is effective in supporting the success of project-based learning at the elementary level, particularly in improving 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
