Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the community's soft skills through public speaking training on polite language on social media and hair buns for temples, as part of the Community Service Program of the University of PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia (UPMI) in Singapadu Kaler Village. The problems faced by the partners included limited public speaking skills, a poor understanding of language etiquette on social media, and a lack of confident communication skills in public. Furthermore, the community lacked a basic understanding of hair bun techniques for temples that align with Balinese cultural aesthetics and lacked practical skills for traditional and religious activities. From a management perspective, there was a lack of ongoing training, support for polite communication, and structured and sustainable hair bun training. The implementation methods included outreach, training, hands-on practice, the application of learning technology, mentoring, and evaluation. The results showed an improvement in the community's communication skills, particularly in public speaking and the use of polite language on social media. Furthermore, participants' hair bun skills also significantly improved through hands-on practice and instructor guidance. This activity has had a positive impact on increasing self-confidence, creativity, and preserving local Balinese culture.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to raise public awareness of the diversity of cultural heritage through the implementation of World Heritage Day & Bugbug Culinary Festival 2026 as a strategy for empowering MSMEs and developing sustainable tourism in Bugbug Village, Karangasem Regency. This program is motivated by Bugbug Village's significant cultural and tourism potential, yet it still faces challenges in MSME business management and digital-based marketing. The implementation method involves several stages: outreach, training, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. The activity involves MSMEs, indigenous communities, the younger generation, the village government, and tourists in various cultural activities, traditional culinary promotions, and digital marketing. The results of the activity indicate an increase in MSME understanding and capacity in aspects of product quality, packaging, tourism services, and the use of digital media as a promotional tool. Furthermore, the festival successfully increased community participation in preserving local culture while strengthening the appeal of cultural and culinary-based tourism. Thus, this activity is a strategic step in strengthening the synergy between MSMEs and the tourism sector to support the sustainable economic independence of local communities.

Abstract

Calonarang dance drama is a traditional Balinese performing art form that serves religious, magical, aesthetic, and social functions in the Balinese Hindu community. This dance drama serves not only as a form of entertainment but also as part of a cultural ritual passed down through generations. However, the development of modernization and changing interests of the younger generation have led to various challenges facing the survival of traditional arts groups, including those faced by the Calonarang Balian Batur dance drama group in Tumbak Bayuh Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency. The main challenges include the limited regeneration of young dancers and musicians, limited artistic development, and suboptimal performance management and documentation. This community service activity aims to support the preservation of Calonarang Balian Batur dance drama by strengthening the artistic capacity and fostering the regeneration of group members. The methods used include participatory observation, interviews, dance technique training, character and expression strengthening workshops, and mentoring in rehearsals and performances. The results of this activity indicate an increase in the artistic abilities of members, increased participation of the younger generation, improved performance quality, and growing public awareness of the importance of preserving traditional Balinese arts. Thus, this mentoring program has a positive impact on the sustainability of arts groups and the strengthening of the local cultural identity of the Tumbakbayuh Village community.

Abstract

Trigona sp. honey bee cultivation as a honey producer has grown quite rapidly after the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic. The Royal Honey Sakah honey bee ecotourism in Gianyar, established in 2017, has also grown rapidly with visitors from both foreign and local tourists. Providing plants as a source of bee food is a priority in Trigona sp. honey bee cultivation. Flowering plants as a source of honey bee food in this ecotourism area are still not comparable to houses (logs containing Trigona sp. honey bee colonies), especially during the prolonged rainy season which causes some plants to produce relatively few flowers. This condition requires the provision of flower plants based on food sources. in the honey bee ecotourism "Royal Honey" Sakah, Gianyar. This community service aims to assist in the creation of a thematic garden based on Trigona sp. honey bee food source plants. The creation of a thematic garden based on bee food sources can help provide food as a source of nectar for honey production. The management of the thematic garden is treated as organic plant cultivation. The concept of planting plants in the thematic garden is in the form of plant arrangement to give a natural, beautiful impression and the availability of food sources for honey bees. The arrangement of plants in green spaces, apart from being a source of food for bees, also has other functions, namely: production function, shade, education and research as well as conservation

Abstract

The elderly are an age group vulnerable to physical, psychological, and social decline due to the aging process. Among the common problems experienced by the elderly are decreased physical fitness, increased stress levels, and reduced social interaction, which can impact their quality of life. In Banjar Belaluan, recreational health activities appropriate to the elderly's needs are still limited. Therefore, this community service activity aims to improve the physical, mental, and social health of the elderly through laughter yoga. This activity involved 35 elderly people who participated in laughter yoga sessions regularly twice a week. The implementation method consisted of socialization, laughter yoga practice, and evaluation. Data were obtained through direct observation and informal interviews, then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results showed that laughter yoga had a positive impact on participants, characterized by increased enthusiasm, improved mood, reduced anxiety, and increased social interaction among the elderly. Furthermore, participants felt more relaxed and comfortable after participating. Thus, laughter yoga can be an effective alternative promotional and preventive activity to help maintain the health and improve the quality of life of the elderly in the community.

ABSTRACT This community service activity aims to improve the skills and creativity of local artisans through innovative production of belong stone as ornaments and for Balinese-themed hotel exteriors in Ubud. The main challenges faced include the limited technical skills of artisans in producing Balinese-based ornamental products, low product design innovation, and the suboptimal development of business opportunities and the economic value of local crafts. The activity was implemented through five stages: outreach, training, technology application, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. The results showed that the belong stone training improved community skills in the design, carving, finishing, and development of Balinese ornamental motifs for hotels and villas. The application of modern technology such as electric chisels and protective coatings for natural stone also helped improve product quality and durability. Furthermore, this activity successfully increased community creativity, business opportunities, and marketing capabilities through the use of digital media. This community service program positively contributes to the development of the community's creative economy and the preservation of Balinese culture through innovative belong stone crafts with high aesthetic and economic value.

Abstract

Waste problems at the household level often stem from a lack of community knowledge in classifying waste types and a low awareness of the economic value of such waste. The background of this research is the environmental situation in Banjar Belaluan, Central Singapadu, where waste management is still carried out traditionally and without segregation. This study aims to explain the process of community empowerment through learning how to sort waste and process organic, inorganic, and residual waste into products with economic value. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a participatory action approach, in which researchers participated in providing technical training to the local community. The findings of this study indicate that through systematic education, the community has been able to sort waste at its source and understand the characteristics of residual waste that needs to be disposed of. Furthermore, residents have successfully processed organic waste into fertilizer and transformed inorganic waste, such as plastic, into creative crafts such as key chains and other accessories. This integration of empowerment not only impacts the environmental cleanliness of the banjar but also creates opportunities for developing a creative economy focused on waste management. People now view waste not as worthless waste, but as a valuable asset that can be transformed into a source of additional income for families through sustainable creativity and innovation.
