Abstract

Introduction: The husband's role in pregnancy care has a major influence on the health of the mother and fetus. Care during pregnancy is an important aspect to prevent complications and deaths that can occur during pregnancy and childbirth. Objective: This literature review aims to strengthen the understanding of the importance of husbands' active role in improving the quality of prenatal care and maternal health. Method: This study was conducted using the literature review method, the data source came from journals published in the last 10 years (2014-2024). Selection was made through screening titles, abstracts, and full text based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed descriptively to identify the form of husband's involvement, factors that influence participation, and its impact on maternal and fetal health. Results: Analysis of 10 articles showed that husbands' involvement in antenatal care contributes positively to maternal and fetal health, including reducing maternal anxiety, increasing adherence to antenatal check-ups, and reducing the risk of complications. While factors such as education, culture, and busy work schedules influence the level of husband involvement, classes for pregnant women and educational programs for husbands effectively increase their awareness of their important role in pregnancy. Conclusions: The active role of husbands in pregnancy care has a significant positive impact on maternal and fetal health. Husband's involvement in emotional, physical, financial, and health access aspects plays an important role in improving the well-being of pregnant women.

Abstract

Introduction: Breast cancer often presents as a painless lump and can develop, invade surrounding breast tissue, and spread to nearby lymph nodes or other organs in the body. The high mortality rate of breast cancer is due to a lack of knowledge about the disease and the importance of early detection, leading to many patients seeking medical help at a late stage. According to Globocan data from 2020, teenage cancer patients in Indonesia rank 3rd in Asia. The government recommends Breast Self-Examination (BSE) as the most effective screening method. BSE is very easy to perform, yet many teenagers are unaware of this method. Objective: The review is to summarize the correlation between students knowledge and BSE Behaviour. Method: The study used a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach and a simple random sampling technique. The sample size was 141 students, and the chi-square statistical test was used for analysis. Result: The majority, 91.5%, of Ananda Junior High School students had never performed BSE and had poor knowledge about the pathophysiology of breast cancer (93.6%) and breast cancer prevention (83.7%). A p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) was obtained, indicating a significant correlation between knowledge about the pathophysiology and prevention of breast cancer and BSE behavior. Conclussion: The proportion of Ananda Bekasi Junior High School students who engage in BSE behavior is very low (8.5%). Most respondents had poor knowledge about the pathophysiology of breast cancer (93.6%) and breast cancer prevention (83.7%).

Abstract

Introduction: Breastfeeding is a natural event for a woman. However, breastfeeding problems that often arise in the early postpartum period (puerperal or lactation period) are breast engorgement. Breast engorgement is a blockage of milk due to the narrowing of the lactiferous ducts or by glands that are not emptied. The impact that will be caused if the breast milk dam is not resolved, namely mastitis and breast abscess, will occur. The use of cabbage or cabbage leaf compresses can be a non-pharmacological treatment. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of cabbage leaf compresses on breast swelling in postpartum mothers. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design. Method: The design used is Posttest Only Control Group Design. The sample of this study was postpartum mothers who experienced breast swelling in TPMB in the Ciamis Health Center Working Area. The number of respondents was 30 postpartum mothers who were divided into 2 groups (intervention and control groups). Each group consisted of 15 postpartum mothers. Result: The results of the statistical tests using the Mann Whitney U test p-value were 0.000, which means that cabbage leaf compresses affect breast swelling in postpartum mothers in TPMB in the Ciamis Health Center Working Area. Conclusion: There is an effect of cabbage leaf compresses on breast swelling in post-partum mothers with a P-value of 0.000.

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a physiological process that induces various bodily changes in women, including hormonal, postural, and biomechanical adaptations. Back pain is a common complaint among pregnant women, particularly during the third trimester. Prenatal exercise serves as a non-pharmacological intervention designed to enhance physical fitness, strengthen muscles, and alleviate pregnancy-related discomfort. Objective: This case study examines the implementation of prenatal exercise to reduce back pain in Mrs. Y, a third-trimester pregnant woman in Banjarsari District, Ciamis Regency. Method: Using a qualitative descriptive methodology with a maternity nursing care process approach (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation), data were collected through interviews, physical examinations, observations, and documentation review. Result: Initial assessment revealed Mrs. Y experienced intermittent back pain described as "heavy pressure" with radiating characteristics, aggravated by activity and relieved by rest. The intervention involved three consecutive days of guided prenatal exercises, with pain intensity monitored using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Results demonstrated reduced pain intensity (from moderate to mild), improved sleep quality, better posture, and enhanced overall comfort. Additionally, the subject showed increased readiness for childbirth. Conclusion: This study concludes that prenatal exercise is a safe and effective method for mitigating back pain and should be integrated as a promotive-preventive strategy in maternity nursing care. The author recommends incorporating prenatal exercises into standard antenatal class programs at primary healthcare facilities
