Abstract

The work environment at the Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) poses various potential hazards that can affect workers’ safety and health, particularly during food processing and portioning activities. Preliminary observations indicate that workers are at risk of injuries from sharp equipment, heat exposure, and fatigue, as well as inconsistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This study aims to identify potential hazards, analyze occupational safety and health risk levels using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method, and develop risk control recommendations for the SPPG X kitchen team. The study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Seven informants were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of the SPPG head, the kitchen manager, the cooking team, and the portioning team. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and was subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that potential hazards for the cooking team included cuts, burns from hot oil and steam, fire risks from gas stoves, and musculoskeletal disorders resulting from prolonged standing. For the serving team, potential hazards were dominated by ergonomic factors such as static work postures, heavy lifting, and work-related fatigue. The risk assessment indicates that frying and the use of gas stoves fall into the high-risk category, while most other activities fall into the moderate-risk category. Risk control measures must be implemented through the application of SOPs, occupational safety and health (K3) training, consistent use of PPE, ergonomic improvements, routine equipment inspections, and ongoing supervision to create a safer work environment.

Abstract

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) represents an essential effort to reduce the occurrence of occupational accidents and must be worn by every worker. In practice, however, a number of workers remain non-compliant in wearing it while on duty. This research sought to examine how knowledge and attitude relate to the completeness of PPE use among employees of PT X. The study applied a cross-sectional design involving 36 workers who were determined through the total sampling technique. Information was gathered using questionnaires and subsequently processed with the Chi-Square test. Findings revealed no meaningful association between knowledge and the completeness of PPE use (p-value = 0.710), and likewise no meaningful association between attitude and the completeness of PPE use (p-value = 0.264). It is therefore concluded that neither knowledge nor attitude is linked to the completeness of PPE use among PT X workers. The findings are expected to provide a reference for the company in strengthening occupational health and safety practices through improved supervision and guidance.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the financial feasibility of a rearing house investment for layer chickens at Senopati Farm, a medium-scale poultry farm in South Lampung, and to identify the variable most sensitive to the investment's feasibility. The investment was undertaken in response to Senopati Farm's complete dependence on external suppliers for pullet chickens, which exposed the farm to price volatility, inconsistent biological quality, and supply uncertainty. This study applies a quantitative case study approach, using primary data from interviews with Senopati Farm's management and secondary data from the company's financial and operational records, government regulations, and Lohmann Brown management guidelines. Feasibility was assessed using four capital budgeting criteria, namely Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Profitability Index (PI), and Payback Period (PP), discounted at a Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) of 10.20%. Risk analysis was conducted using sensitivity analysis with a tornado diagram and a Monte Carlo simulation of 1,000 iterations to evaluate the impact of uncertainty on investment feasibility. The results show that the rearing house investment is financially feasible, generating an NPV of Rp2,196,969,499, an IRR of 35.18%, a PI of 3.19, and a payback period of 2 years and 22 days, all within the ten-year project lifetime. Grower feed price was identified as the most sensitive variable, capable of turning the project's NPV negative with a 20% price increase. The study concludes that Senopati Farm's backward vertical integration decision creates financial value, though its sustained performance depends on management's ability to control feed price risk exposure.

Abstract

Abstract

Weaving machines play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the textile production process. Repeated machine failures can lead to decreased production output and increased downtime. This study aims to identify potential failures, analyze the root causes of weaving machine failures, and prioritize appropriate repairs. The methods used are Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify failure modes and root causes of damage, as well as the Age Replacement method through the calculation of Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) to analyze the level of machine reliability. Data were obtained from observations, interviews, and historical data of machine failures. The findings indicate that the shuttle, oil pump, and connecting rod are the most critical components of the weaving machine, as they recorded the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) values of 360, 280, and 245, respectively. These results suggest that the three components should be given priority in maintenance planning. The analysis further revealed that their failures are primarily associated with component wear, excessive friction, poor lubricant quality, blockage within the lubrication system, excessive operating loads, high vibration levels, and improper component installation. Based on the Age Replacement analysis, the recommended preventive maintenance interval is 243 operating hours for repairable components and 87.4 operating hours for non-repairable components. Implementing these maintenance intervals is expected to reduce the frequency of machine failures, minimize downtime, and improve the overall reliability and operational performance of the weaving machine.
